Chapter 38.3
Xu Yuan didn’t want to look at Meng Zhengrong anymore. She felt nothing but annoyance toward him.
Meng Zhengrong enjoyed the envy he received, savoring the old popsicle. With Xu Yuan being so cooperative, he felt as happy as a god.
With nothing much to do, the three of them simply sat down to watch a variety show.
There was a well-made parent-child program on, and the kids were adorable, making it a good way to pass the time.
Meng Zhengrong and Song Yu had no objections, they were both past their thirties and had secretly envied their friends who had become dads many times.
Watching the cute kids on the screen, they were even more fond of them.
After watching for a while, Meng Zhengrong and Xu Yuan became increasingly engrossed.
Meanwhile, Song Yu kept checking his watch, as if he had something on his mind.
Around three or four o’clock, Xu Yuan’s phone, which she had left on the sofa, rang. She picked it up to see that it was Yuyu calling.
Since Yuyu was busy, she had only been chatting with her on WeChat or having long phone calls, but they had never met in person.
However, this didn’t affect Xu Yuan’s good impression of Yuyu, and she had genuinely begun to feel like they were friends.
Xu Yuan answered the phone, and before she could say anything, she heard Yuyu’s excited voice come through: “Xiao Yuan, my Yuan, I’m back!”
Hearing her lively voice made Xu Yuan smile. She had initially thought of stepping away to take the call, but then realized that Meng Zhengrong and Song Yu were just sitting there not doing anything, so it wasn’t really a disturbance. “You’re back?”
“Yeah, just got off the plane. I want to wash up first. Do you have time? Let’s go out to eat and hang out.”
Xu Yuan really wanted to meet Yuyu and replied without thinking, “Sure, sure! Where shall we meet?”
After arranging the meeting place with Yuyu, Xu Yuan stood up to go upstairs to freshen up.
She didn’t notice the strange expressions on Meng Zhengrong and Song Yu’s faces.
About ten minutes later, Xu Yuan came back down. They had agreed to meet near Yuyu’s apartment, so she was heading out just in time.
The Meng family’s driver didn’t live in the villa, but there were a few cars in the garage. The driver was already driving one. After hanging up with Yuyu, Xu Yuan called the driver.
As she walked into the living room, she said to Meng Zhengrong, “A good friend of mine is back. I’m going to hang out with her, so I won’t be home for dinner.”
Meng Zhengrong glanced at Xu Yuan, wanting to give her a look, but she was looking down at her phone, so he could only helplessly say, “Okay.”
Forget it, it was someone else’s business. Since Xu Yuan hadn’t taken the initiative to mention it or say anything, it was probably because she didn’t want to get involved. Why should he step into muddy waters and upset his wife?
Song Yu pretended to be casual and said, “Where are you going? Just in time, Zhengrong and I don’t know where to eat tonight. Let’s go together! I’ll treat you.”
Xu Yuan glanced at him and shook her head, “No, I haven’t seen my good friend for a long time. It’s a good opportunity to catch up and chat. You two go eat by yourselves.”
Song Yu was silent for a moment and asked, “We won’t bother you, and we definitely won’t sit at the same table, right? Zhengrong.”
“Enough already. I’m leaving, the driver seems to have arrived,” Xu Yuan said, walking towards the door. Before long, she had changed her shoes and opened the door to leave.
Song Yu had something on his mind but didn’t want to mention it to Meng Zhengrong for fear he would make fun of him, so he got up as well. “I think my car isn’t parked properly. I’ll go check.”
Meng Zhengrong sighed, knowing what Song Yu was up to. He looked at him, “Go ahead.”
Xu Yuan didn’t leave the villa right away because the driver hadn’t arrived yet. She didn’t want to go back inside, so she decided to wait outside for a few minutes.
At that moment, the door of the villa opened, and Song Yu came out. Seeing Xu Yuan in the yard, he cheerfully said, “Xiao Yuan, wait for me a moment!”
Without waiting for Xu Yuan to respond, he walked towards the garage.
A little while later, Song Yu came over, carrying a cardboard box, with a paper bag on top of it.
He walked up to Xu Yuan and placed the box down. “These are fresh cherries that were just picked. They were air-shipped here, really sweet and juicy.”
“???” Xu Yuan looked confused.
Song Yu smiled awkwardly and added, “This bag has a high-quality bird’s nest in it. It was brought back by someone. They say it’s quite good.”
“???” What was Song Yu doing?
Xu Yuan looked at the items he had brought and then at him. “For me?”
This question was a bit hard to answer. Song Yu thought for a moment and decided it could be said that way; Xu Yuan could have some of it.
Song Yu didn’t say anything, just smiled, which was his answer.
At that moment, the driver arrived at the villa gate. Xu Yuan didn’t really want to accept these things from Song Yu, feeling a bit strange. So she said to Song Yu, “Why don’t you take them back or give them to Zhengrong?”
After saying that, she turned to walk toward the door.
But Song Yu immediately followed her with the box, and before Xu Yuan could react, he opened the car door and placed the items in the back seat.
Xu Yuan: “…”
What was Song Yu trying to do? Why was he giving her cherries and bird’s nest out of the blue? It made her feel very uncomfortable, and it was hard to accept.
Song Yu looked at Xu Yuan’s expression, feeling it was strange but not bothering to analyze it. He leaned close to her and whispered, “Don’t tell Zhengrong about this today.”
If Meng Zhengrong found out, he would definitely tease him.
After saying this, Song Yu winked at Xu Yuan and turned to walk back into the villa, leaving Xu Yuan confused in the wind.

Hi there! Aya here 🌸 If you're enjoying my translations, feel free to treat me to a Ko-fi—it would absolutely make my day! Don’t forget to mention the novel you enjoy! ☕💖 Thank you for your support! 。˚🐈⬛.𖥔 ݁ ˖
Unless Song Yu says anything to Yuyu, I don’t think she’ll ever realize that he likes her. I just wonder if the original Xu Yuan knew about his affections for her friend because the transmigrated Xu Yuan is pretty clueless about romance and love, so she’ll never realize his feeling either, lol.
Thanks for the chapter! 😀
