Chapter 71.2
Baby Panda could now express himself clearly. “Other girls aren’t Nong Nong. Nong Nong is my good friend; she’s different from other girls.”
Xu Yuan couldn’t help but kiss Baby Panda’s cheek. “Our Baby Panda is so smart and good.”
Although Baby Panda was still many years away from adulthood and dating, isn’t it a parent’s duty to teach him the principles of being a person and a man from a young age?
Waiting until he was old enough to date would be a bit too late, wouldn’t it?
It’s important to be a good person, and it’s equally important to be a good man.
Though Baby Panda was still just a little boy now.
Hearing his mom praise him like that made Baby Panda a bit shy, and his ears quietly turned red. He still pretended to be indifferent and said, “What’s the big deal?”
Xu Yuan couldn’t help but laugh at Baby Panda’s expression.
Now, Baby Panda didn’t like others giving him baths and insisted on doing it himself, but he could never clean himself properly. When Xu Yuan asked him about it, he felt awkward since all the housekeepers were women. Even when Xu Yuan helped him wash, he felt somewhat embarrassed, which meant Meng Zhengrong had to step in to give Baby Panda a bath.
After Baby Panda was done, Xu Yuan sat on the edge of the bed and chatted with him.
Interestingly, Baby Panda didn’t like listening to fairy tales like other children; he preferred chatting with people.
So every night before bed, either Xu Yuan or Meng Zhengrong would come over to talk with him, leaving only after he fell asleep.
Remembering what Shen Li had said earlier that day, Xu Yuan glanced at Baby Panda, organized her thoughts, and asked, “Baby Panda, Mommy has a question for you, and I want you to answer honestly.”
Baby Panda looked at Xu Yuan with his big eyes. “Mommy, I’ve always been honest with you.”
“Is that so? Then how do you explain that last week you told Mommy you were sick when you actually just didn’t want to go to school? What’s that about?” Xu Yuan didn’t hold back in exposing Baby Panda.
Baby Panda looked conflicted. “Mommy, can we not talk about that?”
“Then you can’t lie to Mommy about being sick again next time.”
“…Okay.” Baby Panda gave a playful expression that seemed to say, “What can I do about you?”
“Back to the topic.” Xu Yuan reached out to touch Baby Panda’s chubby little face. “Baby Panda, a lot of kids in your class have younger siblings or older brothers and sisters. Do you want a brother or a sister?”
Baby Panda stared at Xu Yuan, seeming to fall into deep thought.
Xu Yuan wasn’t in a hurry for an answer and patiently waited for him to respond.
After a while, Baby Panda finally spoke, “Mommy, it’s not about whether I want a brother or sister, but whether you and Daddy want another son or daughter.”
Xu Yuan didn’t immediately understand what Baby Panda meant and was momentarily stunned. “What do you mean?”
Baby Panda exaggeratedly sighed, stretching out his little chubby hand from under the blanket to mimic Xu Yuan’s gesture of touching her face. “Mommy is so silly. I mean, if you want a daughter, then I want a sister.”
After realizing what he meant, Xu Yuan could hardly suppress her admiration for her son’s wisdom.
He understood something that many adults couldn’t!
Baby Panda was so considerate and well-behaved!
Whether or not to have a brother or sister depended on whether she and Meng Zhengrong wanted a son or daughter. How lucky were they to have Baby Panda as their child!
Xu Yuan couldn’t help but kiss Baby Panda several times. “Mommy’s baby is truly the smartest and most understanding child in the world!”
Baby Panda felt a bit shy for the first time being praised like this. “Mommy is the smartest and most understanding mommy in the world!”
The mother and son looked at each other and laughed, creating a warm atmosphere.

However, the next day, Xu Yuan and Meng Zhengrong were called to the kindergarten because their smartest and most understanding Baby Panda had gotten into a fight.
The kindergarten teachers knew about the couple’s identities and were aware of how much funding the Meng family provided each year. Therefore, it was safe to say that every teacher in that kindergarten was an expert in early childhood education. Regardless of how influential a family might be, the teachers didn’t want to take the matter of educating the children lightly.
Xu Yuan and Meng Zhengrong sat in the office while the teacher poured them tea and then sat down. “Mr. and Mrs. Meng, thank you for taking the time to come here. The situation is as follows: today, Meng Yucheng got into a fight with a classmate.”
Hearing the teacher call out Baby Panda’s full name, the couple was momentarily stunned but quickly regained their composure.
Baby Panda got into a fight?
Meng Zhengrong was the first to react. Calmly, he asked, “A fight? May I ask what it was about?”
The teacher smiled, thinking that this small incident could reveal the parents’ approach to education.
Other parents often rushed in asking if their child was hurt and even implied they wanted to settle scores with Baby Panda’s family. However, upon hearing Baby Panda’s name from another teacher, they immediately quieted down.
The Meng couple was different; they were concerned about what led to the fight, which indicated their calmness. It was clear that Baby Panda was not seriously hurt.
Concern can sometimes lead to chaos, but sometimes it shouldn’t.
“Mr. Meng, I think it’s better if Yucheng explains the specifics to you himself,” the teacher said. Although she could explain the situation, she felt this was a good opportunity for the children to learn, and it would be better for Yucheng to articulate it rather than the adults.
Meng Zhengrong and Xu Yuan exchanged glances, choosing not to press the issue further.
Xu Yuan politely asked the teacher, “Did the other children get hurt?”
The teacher replied, “The other child has a scraped elbow that’s bleeding, but the doctor said it’s nothing serious and won’t leave a scar.”
Xu Yuan nodded. “And what about our Yucheng?”
“… He wasn’t hurt.”
Since Baby Panda didn’t need to go to school that afternoon, Xu Yuan and Meng Zhengrong followed the teacher to Baby Panda’s class, ready to take him home.
Xu Yuan specifically mentioned to the teacher, “If it’s convenient, we would like to understand exactly what happened and then check on the other child.”
The teacher nodded. “Okay, I’ll pass that along.”
On the way home, Baby Panda remained silent, his face stern, clearly in a bad mood. Xu Yuan wanted to talk to him but decided to give him some time to process his thoughts, seeing that he was in this state.
Once they returned home, Meng Zhengrong led Baby Panda to the bedroom, with Xu Yuan following closely behind and closing the door.
Although the teacher hadn’t provided specifics about the incident, it was clear that Baby Panda had initiated the altercation.
Meng Zhengrong squatted down to look at Baby Panda and asked, “Yucheng, can you tell Daddy why you got into a fight?”
Baby Panda remained silent, stubbornly turning his head away, as if he had no intention of speaking.
Xu Yuan didn’t want to interfere but, seeing Meng Zhengrong asking, decided to let him handle the situation.
She sat to the side without saying anything.
Meng Zhengrong asked again, “Yucheng, Daddy wants to know what happened. Why did you fight? Please tell Daddy.”
For some reason, Baby Panda stubbornly refused to speak. After Meng Zhengrong patiently asked several times, Baby Panda suddenly turned to leave, unwilling to address the issue.
When children throw tantrums, they can be very obstinate, ignoring all attempts to soothe them.
Meng Zhengrong was a bit irritated now. He grabbed Baby Panda firmly and said seriously, “Meng Yucheng, I’m asking you one last time—what happened?”
Baby Panda’s face flushed red as he stared at his father, suddenly bursting into tears.
Meng Zhengrong was momentarily taken aback; Baby Panda often faked crying, and even now, he rarely cried for real, especially after starting kindergarten. Yet, at this moment, he was genuinely crying.
He cried loudly and seemed particularly aggrieved.
Xu Yuan felt a pang in her heart watching him but was determined to let Meng Zhengrong handle it. She suppressed her instincts to comfort him and remained silent, not wrapping Baby Panda in her usual warm embrace.
At this point, they knew Baby Panda had initiated the fight, and the other child had been injured. Since Baby Panda wouldn’t tell them what had happened, they couldn’t simply comfort him.
“I didn’t do anything wrong!” Baby Panda could only manage to say this one sentence, struggling to catch his breath between sobs.
A short while later, Shen Li called, and it was Nong Nong on the line.
On the phone, Nong Nong told Xu Yuan that Baby Panda had fought because the boy had been bullying a little girl in their class, and Baby Panda couldn’t stand by and do nothing, which led him to hit the boy.
