Reborn Back To The Time When I First Got A Job
Reborn Back To The Time When I First Got A Job | Chapter 64

The next day, Pan Sasha didn’t get up until noon.

When she got out of bed, Lu Nan was already sitting at the head of the bed with her laptop, working on a chapter of her novel.

Sasha glanced over, still sleepy, and asked, “What are you doing? Writing the weekly report?” It sure didn’t look like a report.

“Writing. It’s kind of… a part time job,” Lu Nan said, deciding it was time to be honest since Sasha was right there.

“Wow—” Even though it was just a quick glance, Pan Sasha was still shocked by the screen full of text. She covered her mouth and whispered, “Are you writing a novel?”

Lu Nan nodded.

“Last night, I was still wondering if there’s anything you can’t do, and today you gave me another surprise.” Sasha grabbed her face in her hands. “Nan Nan, you’re so talented! A writer! I can’t believe there’s a living author right next to me!”

“Just to correct you, I’m an online writer.”

“Is there a big difference? Anyway, I admire cultured people! Back in school, I’d go bald trying to write an 800-word essay.” Sasha rubbed Lu Nan’s face repeatedly. “If you were a guy, with this talent, I’d carry you home and make you write a novel based on me. The female lead with a huge harem, collecting all the handsome men in the world!”

Lu Nan pulled her face free and laughed, “Wow, you’ve got some dangerous ideas.”

“Why is it okay for male-oriented novels to dominate but not for women to have harems?” Pan Sasha responded confidently.

After laughing a bit more, Sasha added, “But you should be careful. The company doesn’t allow part time job.”

“Yeah, my computer has a password,” Lu Nan replied.

“Can you tell me your pen name?”

“Ugh—now it feels kind of embarrassing.”

“That’s fine, I won’t pressure you. Just tell me when you don’t feel so embarrassed anymore.”

“Sasha, you’re the best!”

“Hey, I get it. When I write a bit of diary entries or essays too, I don’t want anyone to see it either.”

Feeling trusted by Lu Nan, Pan Sasha was in a great mood. They went out for a cozy lunch together before Sasha headed back to Fengyun County.

…

By September, Lu Nan had been busy preparing for the grand tasting event.

There was a lot to do, and everything was all over the place.

As the intermediary between the three parties (office, distributor, and hotel), the workload was far greater than that of other newcomers.

Thankfully, Lu Nan was always organized. She listed the key tasks for the event using a SWOT analysis method and checked off each one once it was confirmed.

Whether it was a sudden change to the schedule from the Feixiang Event team, or strict advertising requirements from the city office, she was able to accurately communicate the intentions of both sides and play the role of mediator. Even when it came to the hotel setup, Pei Xuedong’s understanding of the layout plan was no better than hers, not to mention his aesthetic sense. Since Pei Xuedong was the boss’s brother-in-law, the designers from Feixiang were often hesitant to speak up, so they would turn to Lu Nan for help. She had to fix the mistakes in Pei Xuedong’s aesthetic choices too.

Even though there was a lot going on, Lu Nan was able to prioritize them and handle them one by one.

Sometimes, when Lu Nan ran into Zhao Bin at the hotel, they would chat about the progress of the event. He would also invite her to sit at the water bar. Usually, at these times, Pei Xuedong was present, so Lu Nan would behave graciously and follow the actions of Mr. Yang’s brother-in-law. If they were going, she would go and sit for a while. If they weren’t, she would mention that she had other things to take care of.

During this time, Lu Nan also found a moment to check the second batch of wine and materials sent by the headquarters. Of course, everything was in order.

As for the guest invitations for the grand tasting event, that wasn’t really Lu Nan’s responsibility.

However, considering that she did have some people to invite, she asked Mr. Yang if he could provide her with a few invitations. She planned to give them to Mr. Yuan, Mr. Song, and the president and vice president of the Book Club, all of whom had bought wine through her and Feixiang.

Mr. Yang was more than happy to help. He gave her eight invitations and said to ask him for more if needed.

Lu Nan took two days to visit a few of the executives. Mr. Song and Mr. Yuan each received two invitations, while the president and vice president each got one. The remaining two invitations were used by Lu Nan for a trip to the school. One was given to Professor Zhu (her academic supervisor, whom she had met last time when Mr. Yuan treated them to dinner), and the other was given to Jiao Bo, a fellow member of the Book Club who had helped her a lot during her time in school.

Is it unreasonable to take two days to deliver eight invitations?

Actually, it only took two mornings.

Of course not!

At the office, this kind of efficiency is impressive.

The people who got the invitations were happy and confirmed they’d show up on time.

Time passed quickly, and before long, it was September 14th, the day before the Grand Tasting Event for Feixiang.

After the morning meeting, Chen Xiao had already discussed with Manager Wang about the four men they were borrowing: Yan Kai, Zhou Lei, Yi Wei, and the chubby Sun Bo, who worked in distribution.

In addition, Xiang Feifei and Dong Hui from the Classic Wine Department were also coming to help.

So, these seven people were asked to stay for a separate meeting.

Manager Wang and Li Li were there to listen.

There are eight of us here, plus General Director Xiang, Zhou Tian, Li Li, and Manager Wang.

Lu Nan calculated: Hmm, Yuan Chuan has twelve seats here—oh right, Director Xiang also has a driver, so that’s thirteen seats. I estimated fifteen people, pretty accurate.

Chen Xiao looked at the seven “little troublemakers” (in a joking tone) and didn’t waste time, immediately explaining the dress code for tomorrow: “I’ve already mentioned this before. For the top, wear white shirts. For men, black trousers and leather shoes; for women, a black skirt and leather shoes with appropriate heel height. Keep it neat and professional. The ties, scarves, and name tags will be prepared by Jiang Xiaoyun, and we will distribute them tomorrow morning after gathering. Everyone knows how to tie a tie, right?” The last question was obviously directed at the men.

The four nodded.

Chen Xiao turned to Lu Nan: “For the specific tasks, you explain to them.”

This wasn’t what Lu Nan had expected, but she only paused for a moment, then nodded seriously and opened her notebook: “Got it, Brother Xiao.”

“Alright, for the guys: Sun Bo, you have just one task tomorrow, but it’s important—keep an eye on the wine for the tasting and the mooncake gift boxes for the guests. For the wine, make sure the number of bottles taken out matches the number of bottle caps returned. As for the mooncakes, make sure every guest gets theirs and keep track of the leftovers to return to Feixiang after the event.”

Lu Nan said this and glanced at Sun Bo, who nodded: “Understood.”

She continued, “Yan Kai and Zhou Lei, before the tasting starts, you’ll help the key account managers from Feixiang direct the guests to their seats. I’ll send the seating arrangement soon, so familiarize yourselves with the table numbers. During this time, Yi Wei will be on standby to help with logistics or assist Yan Kai and Zhou Lei with seating.”

She paused again, seeing the four nodding. Then she added, “Once the guest registration ends, you four will split into two groups to eat and take turns watching the remaining materials and helping with the entertainment team.”

“Of course, after the tasting event, you’ll also help with cleaning up the materials—this doesn’t include Feixiang’s items, but rather the wines we brought for display and the empty bottles and caps to be collected.” Lu Nan said with a smile, finishing the guys’ tasks before turning to the women.

“First, tomorrow morning when we arrive at the venue, get the artificial crystal pendants from Feixiang. There are 200 pairs in total. I’ve already checked them once when they came off the production line, but I’ll need you two to double-check and pack them into two boxes. One box will be given to guests during registration, and you’ll explain what the pendants are for. The other box will be used for the raffle later in the event. Here’s a key point: Two of the pendants have special numbers—these belong to the designated winners decided by Mr. Yang. Make sure those two are handed out to the right guests at the registration desk, without any mistakes.”

After saying this, Lu Nan looked seriously at Xiang Feifei and Dong Hui.

Her gaze was intense and put a lot of pressure on them. In that moment, no matter what kind of personal relationship they had with Lu Nan, whether good or bad, both of them were taken aback and made sure to remember this sentence.

Seeing that they understood the importance of the task, Lu Nan softened her tone: “Second, your main work area before the banquet starts will be the check-in desk. Please make sure to check that the signature pens are full of ink before guiding the guests to sign in. I’ve already talked to Feixiang, and they were supposed to provide enough pens, but if we run out, just find Yi Wei.” She looked at Yi Wei, who nodded to show he understood—he would be available for support before the event starts.

“Third, guiding the guests to their seats is typically the responsibility of Feixiang’s key account managers, but since there will be many guests at the large event, if the key account managers are temporarily held up in the banquet hall, chatting with guests and unable to return in time, you two need to make sure you can assist Yan Kai and Zhou Lei in managing the guest seating handover.” Xiang Feifei and Dong Hui both nodded in agreement.

“Before the tasting event starts, I will stay at the check-in desk. After it begins, I will be in the program backstage area. Since Director Xiang, Manager Wang, and Brother Xiao will be at the main table, along with other important guests, if any unexpected situations arise, please contact me first. I guarantee my phone will always be on and charged.” She said this confidently. “Of course, I expect everyone to cooperate and give their best, so we avoid any unnecessary problems. Tomorrow will be tough for everyone.”

Lu Nan gave a slight nod to the six people and then turned to the leaders: “This is the specific arrangement. Manager Wang, Manager Li, please help me with the final checks.”

Manager Wang and Li Li exchanged a glance before Manager Wang spoke: “I think this plan is great! Lu Nan, you’ve grown a lot.”

Lu Nan smiled humbly and glanced at Chen Xiao: “It’s thanks to the guidance of our leaders.”

The next morning, the office gathered—fortunately, the tie (for men) and scarf (for women) from Jiang Xiaoyun both had ‘Dreaming Back to the Han and Tang Dynasties’ bottle-shaped painting elements, making them quite unique.

Otherwise, their outfits would have made them look like hotel staff.

While waiting for taxi, Chen Xiao addressed the group: “You’re a team today, so follow Lu Nan’s instructions. Don’t take it easy, and don’t make decisions on your own. Once the big event wraps up, I’ll take you all out for a good meal.” After all, staff in these kinds of situations usually don’t get enough to eat.

Regardless of their personal feelings, the other six all looked happy on the outside.

The eight of them needed two taxis to reach the hotel. Chen Xiao and his three female subordinates took one, while the other four men took the other.
