Chapter 32
As he spoke, his eyes glanced at the Han family’s mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.
Aunt Han had a very unpleasant expression on her face. She knew she was in the wrong and was even more worried that she would be arrested for ideological reform. She gritted her teeth and turned her head away.
Facing the kindness of everyone, Zhao Xingyu responded with a faint smile: “It’s nothing, I’ll just be careful.”
“Oh, Captain Zhao is too easy to talk to.”
“Don’t be so stubborn next time. You are a good seedling of our army. You must take care of your health…”
“I understand. Thank you all sisters-in-law for your kindness.”
Zhao Xingyu responded one by one.
Qi Sisi also echoed.
Apart from a few people with bad intentions, the atmosphere in the army is actually quite good. As military families, we all know how difficult it is for each other, and we put ourselves in each other’s shoes and show mutual understanding.
Most of the people in the carriage were women. After Zhao Xingyu exchanged a few words of greeting, he stopped talking and let the sisters-in-law chat on their own.
I just didn’t expect that everyone would focus their attention on Qi Sisi.
“What did Xiao Qi buy today?”
“It looks like all fabrics. Aren’t you going to buy some vegetables and meat?”
“Someone was selling fish from the village reservoir today. I bought two. How about I give you one?”
“Yeah, Captain Zhao has an injured leg. He should drink some fish soup to replenish his leg.”
“I used to think Captain Zhao was quite cold, but I didn’t expect that after getting to know him today, he turns out to be quite easy to talk to.”
Qi Sisi smiled awkwardly, touching her hair, hesitating whether to agree or not.
Fresh fish are not easy to sell. This aunt must have made some arrangements to be able to buy two. It would not be appropriate for her to leave now. When she heard about stewing fish soup for Zhao Xingyu, she was immediately moved.
“Mrs. Liu, I won’t be polite. How much is the fish? I’ll give it to you.”
Qi Sisi reached into her trouser pocket. She found some change from the supply and marketing cooperative just now, which was more than enough to buy a fish.
Sister Liu waved her hand, “It’s not much money, you can keep it.”
Qi Sisi was stunned, “Sister-in-law, if you say that, I dare not accept it. It’s not easy for everyone to earn money. How can I take your things for free? Besides, it’s hard for you to buy fish early in the morning.”
“Hey, why are you so unconventional…” Sister Liu originally thought that she would accept it reluctantly, but she didn’t expect Qi Sisi to be so upright, and she immediately had a better impression of her.
“Okay! I bought this fish for 20 cents per pound, and they are all about the same size. Just give me fifty cents.”
Qi Sisi took out a fifty-cent coin and took out a handful of fruit candies from the candy she had bought. She handed them over with a smile: “The fifty cents is for the fish, and the candies are for me to thank you, sister-in-law, for buying me the fish. I’ll give them to my children to sweeten their stomachs.”
After hearing this, Sister Liu felt so relieved.
“Oh, you are such a sensible girl. I like you so much, sister-in-law. Please come to our house more often when you are free. I wish my Miaomiao could be as sensible as you.”
“Sister-in-law is so warm and generous, I think Miaomiao will not be much worse.”
The two women began to flatter each other.
The people around her gradually became more impressed with Qi Sisi and began to accept her.
As the discussion on this topic unfolded, people started talking about their own children, either praising or criticizing them.
As for Han’s mother and Miao Cuicui, they were tacitly isolated by everyone because of what happened before.
I didn’t know anyone in the car, the only person I knew was Qi Sisi.
It’s a pity that the two sides don’t get along.
Han’s mother relied on herself as the elder and was unwilling to speak actively. Miao Cuicui was inferior and secretly observed the conversations between Qi Sisi and other military wives, trying to get useful information from them.
After talking for a while, some people started to pry into the matter.
“Speaking of which, Xiao Qi, when you got married, what kind of betrothal gift did Captain Zhao give you?”
“Xiao Zhao is a leader in our army and has won many awards. He must have given you a lot of good things, right?”
“I went there that day, too. The banquet was so grand and the dishes were very delicious. I ate so much that my stomach was full.”
“Oh, it’s a pity that I didn’t go that day.”
Qi Sisi blinked and turned her gaze to the man who was resting with his eyes closed beside her.
Just as he opened his eyes, their eyes met.
This moment.
It was like a flash of lightning.
Smiles gradually appeared in the eyes of the two.
“You say it.”
Zhao Xingyu whispered, and his broad and powerful hands gently held her palm.
Qi Sisi’s eyes curved: “Then I’ll tell you.”
“I heard that the man surnamed Han gave a bicycle and a sewing machine as a betrothal gift. He spent a lot of money. The dishes on the banquet are all delicious. Captain Zhao will not lose to him, right?”
Someone suddenly said this.
Qi Sisi looked back, squinted for a while, and remembered who this person was.
Jiang Yunfang.
He was her childhood neighbor. After Jiang’s father made a mistake and was demoted, he moved far away and the contact between the two sides became less frequent.
It is worth mentioning that Jiang Yunfang had met Zhao Xingyu before and originally wanted to control him, but Zhao Xingyu bluntly said that he already had someone in his heart and had no intention of a blind date. This time it was because the leader did not ask clearly in advance, and I didn’t want to make things difficult for him, so I went to the appointment to explain it clearly…
Jiang Yunfang was embarrassed, angry and hated Qi Sisi. During that period of time, he acted in a sarcastic manner and spoke sarcastically whenever he saw her.
After the wedding date between her and Han Guibing was set, Jiang Yunfang even went to Qi Sisi and mocked her for picking up sesame seeds and losing watermelons.
I heard that Jiang Yunfang got married later and married a platoon leader.
The man is not as capable or good-looking as Zhao Xingyu, but his father is a leader in the army and his family is better off than the Han family. However, he has a strong mother-in-law, so she has to be humble after marrying into the family.
Qi Sisi teased with a smile, “You know so much? Did you see it with your own eyes?”
Jiang Yunfang’s face turned green instantly. She glared at her and said, “I would like to go, but unfortunately Miss Qi is so stingy that she didn’t even send me an invitation.”
“Well, after all, our relationship is average, and it would be a waste of seat to give you an invitation.” Qi Sisi told the truth.
Jiang Yunfang was so angry that she took a deep breath, and her eyes widened even more.
This little bitch! That’s so rude!
“Besides, Miss Jiang didn’t send me an invitation to her wedding, right?” Qi Sisi threw the blame back.
Given their relationship, at best they were childhood neighbors, and at worst they were love rivals. Who would invite the other to the wedding?
Jiang Yunfang snorted coldly, “I was asking about the betrothal gift just now. Miss Qi didn’t answer. It seems that the betrothal gift given by Captain Zhao is not as good as that given by the Han family.”
“Well,” Qi Sisi supported her chin and threw out the question, “Aunt Han is also here, why don’t you ask her where the betrothal gifts came from?”
Immediately, everyone turned their eyes to Han’s mother.
“Thanks to this girl’s reminder, I almost forgot about this!” Han’s mother instantly became energetic and spoke with more energy.
“Xiao Qi, your marriage with Gui Bing didn’t take place, so all those betrothal gifts have to be returned to our Han family! Cuicui, go to the Qi family later and move all those things back!”
Qi Sisi gave an ambiguous smile.
“Aunt, others may not know, but you don’t know either. Whose money was used to buy those betrothal gifts?”
These days, immersed in the joy of my newlywed life, I forgot to do the math.
