1980s: The Scheming Officer Fell for Me After Reading My Mind Chapter 1

Chapter 1: Transmigrated to the 1980s

“Commander, this girl probably won’t make it, she’s barely breathing!”

“Prepare to perform CPR.”

“I’m so nervous that I’ve forgotten everything I learned. Commander, you should do it. I’ll go ahead and find a way to get her to the hospital!”

“…”

Zhou Jinchuan glanced at the fast-running figure and then looked down at the woman lying on the ground.

Her face was as white as paper, and she was barely breathing. She was indeed on the brink of death.

Saving her was the priority.

Zhou Jinchuan knelt on both knees, reached out to unbutton the top button of the woman’s shirt, and leaned down, ready to give her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Su Yi’s head felt like it was about to explode! Her ears were filled with two unfamiliar voices discussing whether she was dead or not.

As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw an incredibly handsome face gradually approaching hers.

Seeing that face about to touch hers, Su Yi suddenly woke up and slapped him hard, shouting, “Pervert!”

The change happened so quickly that Zhou Jinchuan was completely unprepared. By the time he reacted, his face had already been firmly slapped.

The woman who had been on the verge of death just moments ago suddenly sprang up like she had come back to life.

A flicker of surprise flashed in Zhou Jinchuan’s eyes. He pursed his lips and glanced at her, “You misunderstood, just now—”

Su Yi quickly scanned the unfamiliar surroundings, her mind racing, but she forced herself to stay calm and questioned him, “Misunderstanding? Why did you bring me to this desolate place?”

Before Su Yi finished speaking, she noticed something was wrong. Since when did her voice become so crisp?

Moreover, the man in front of her was incredibly handsome, with a strong presence and a composed, honest expression.

Water droplets hung from his short hair, trickling down his rugged face. His high nose and thin lips, along with his bright, deep-set eyes, made him look nothing like a human trafficker.

Zhou Jinchuan glanced at her for a moment before looking away. He didn’t intend to argue with someone who had just had a near-death experience and whose mind was still not clear.

As he was about to stand up and leave, he suddenly noticed out of the corner of his eye that her light-colored shirt was soaked and clinging to her body, revealing everything.

Quickly turning around, he reached to unbutton his own shirt.

Seeing him start to undress, Su Yi panicked even more. She tried to get up and run, but found she had no strength in her legs.

“Don’t come any closer! If you take off any more clothes, I’ll scream for help!”

Before she finished speaking, the man had already removed his jacket and tossed it at her without a word, then turned and walked away.

Su Yi opened her mouth but couldn’t say anything. She looked down and finally noticed her own condition.

Seeing the man walking towards a car by the roadside, Su Yi took the opportunity to observe her surroundings.

In front of her was a vast cornfield, and behind her was a small river with a string of wet footprints along the bank.

Looking down, she noticed her deep blue straight-leg pants had a very vintage feel, and she was wearing black cloth shoes with buckles.

The jacket she was wearing was a military coat. Glancing up again, she saw that the man not far away was wearing a white shirt, with the sleeves half-rolled up, exposing his strong forearms. His army-green pants matched the jacket she was wearing.

Su Yi’s breath hitched as her mind was suddenly flooded with numerous memories that didn’t belong to her. The influx of memories was so overwhelming and chaotic that she couldn’t process them all at once.

But she quickly grasped the key point: she had transmigrated into the body of a girl with the same name.

The original owner of this body lived in a rural area more than a hundred kilometers away and had come here to find her fiancé in the army. Naive and inexperienced, she had been deceived by a man and a woman who offered her a ride, only to be brought here, robbed of her belongings, and pushed into the river.

Thinking about this, Su Yi was puzzled. The man and woman had gone to great lengths to bring the original owner here, but they didn’t attempt to assault her or sell her. Was it really just for the few old clothes in her bag? It seemed utterly nonsensical to kill someone for such a trivial reason!

However, now was not the time to ponder this.

With the newfound memories, Su Yi realized that it was the man who had pulled her out of the river.

The scene she had woken up to was probably him preparing to give her CPR.

Thinking about how she had mistaken him for a pervert and slapped him, Su Yi felt a burning sense of shame on her face.

Just as she was about to get up and apologize to him, a military-green figure suddenly ran from the other end of the road.

Seeing her, the person’s face lit up with joy. “This female comrade has been saved?! That’s great, I thought for sure she wasn’t going to make it!”

“You’re lucky our commander was here! Comrade, you wouldn’t believe it, you weren’t even breathing just now, you scared me to death.”

“It’s a good thing we took the wrong road and ended up here today, otherwise there wouldn’t be anyone around at midday. Commander, don’t you think it’s fate?”

Standing by the car, Zhou Jinchuan glanced at the two, his brow slightly furrowed. “Do you ever stop talking? Did you find the way?”

Xie Xiaojun finally stopped talking and walked towards the car. “Reporting to the commander, there’s a small town two miles ahead. Once we go through the town, we can get back on the main road!”

“Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go.”

With that, Zhou Jinchuan took a long stride and sat in the front passenger seat.

Xie Xiaojun glanced at the girl, then at the commander’s face.

What happened between them while he was gone?

Why did the commander look a bit annoyed?

“Commander, aren’t we taking her with us?”

“Hey, Commander, why is your face red in one spot?”

Zhou Jinchuan rubbed his cheek. “Mosquito bite. But it’s only two miles, she can walk back on her own.”

Given the strength she had shown when she hit him, this short distance shouldn’t be a problem.

Xie Xiaojun immediately understood—the commander was worried about people gossiping if they took the girl along.

He had to follow orders. “Comrade, please don’t do anything rash again! Hurry up and go home!”

As the car was about to start, Su Yi quickly ran up.

“Comrades of the People’s Liberation Army, I misunderstood earlier. I’m sorry!”

“And thank you for rescuing me!”

After speaking, Su Yi bowed deeply to the two of them.

Then she explained, “I wasn’t thinking of doing anything drastic. My home isn’t here either. I came from another place to seek refuge with relatives. On the way, I was deceived, robbed, and pushed into the water.”

Zhou Jinchuan’s expression softened as he saw that her apology seemed sincere.

When he heard that she had been pushed into the water, he turned to Xie Xiaojun and said, “Xiao Xie, give her some money so she can report it to the police at the town ahead.”

Xie Xiaojun quickly complied, taking out some money and handing it to her. “Comrade, we are in a hurry to get back, so we can’t accompany you to report the incident. Be careful on your way.”

Su Yi looked at the money being offered to her but hesitated to take it.

She was new here and unfamiliar with the place, and she was afraid of encountering the two villains again.

She felt safer leaving with these two PLA soldiers.

Suddenly, she remembered that the original owner’s fiancé was also a soldier and should be stationed nearby.

With this in mind, she came up with a plan. “Comrades of the PLA, those two villains have probably fled far away by now. I need to get to the Northwest Military’s 29th Regiment. Could you possibly give me a ride?”

“The 29th Regiment? What a coincidence! That’s our unit!” Xie Xiaojun exclaimed excitedly.

A trace of wariness flickered in Zhou Jinchuan’s eyes as he glanced at the jacket she was wearing, seeming to understand something.

“The jacket is yours to keep, but please return the documents from the pocket.”

Su Yi’s hand, which had just reached into the pocket, froze.

[Are you kidding me? There really are documents! Would you believe me if I said it’s a coincidence?]

Zhou Jinchuan thought he heard something, suspiciously looking up to see if anyone else had noticed, but both of them appeared unperturbed.

Su Yi hurriedly handed over the documents. “Coincidentally, my fiancé is also a soldier, currently in the 29th Regiment. I’m going there to find him.”

Zhou Jinchuan paused as he took the documents, giving her a wary look. “What’s your fiancé’s name?”

The term “fiancé” was still somewhat unfamiliar to the current Su Yi.

She quickly searched her memory and replied, “Qin Yunfeng.”

Both men in the car were taken aback upon hearing this name, their eyes filled with surprise.

“Commander, isn’t Qin Yunfeng—”

“If they know each other, we should give her a ride back.”
