Chapter 100: What? Did I Really Brag and the World Took It Seriously?

People were left in stunned silence.

In a world where sorcery had become rigid and brutal, with spellcasters wielding magic like blunt instruments, Downs had arrived, demonstrating the lost elegance of controlled, deliberate magic that struck with precision. He faced thousands of onlookers, blocking a deadly spell with a simple but effective Vacuum Wall and then flying forward atop his radiant steed, Bole, to meet the Duchess herself.

“Are you the Duchess Sofia Marino?” he asked, glancing at the standard-bearer behind her. “I am Downs Quixote, sent by my master, Tesla, to render aid.”

The Duchess, caught between panic and relief, felt a pang at the thought of the costly favor she’d requested.

“Yes, that’s right,” she answered, composing herself.

“And… where is your master?” she asked hopefully.

Downs frowned slightly, wondering at the title of “master” for someone who looked hardly older than himself, but he continued. “Your Grace, the lich across the battlefield is beyond my own skill to face directly. Please sign this contract transferring the lands held by the enemy to my master, so he can relocate the Madera Space Tower and handle this threat.”

“What?!” exclaimed Sofia and her knight Joseph together, shocked.

Signing away land in the middle of a battlefield seemed absurd, but when the name “Tesla” was involved, reason was cast aside. He was no ordinary mage—this was a living legend, the hero who had slain a white dragon with ease and pursued a demon lord to the underworld itself.

With no hesitation, Sofia signed her name on the dragon-skin contract.

The moment her signature touched the parchment, a miracle began to unfold. Above the battlefield, the city’s defenders watched as an enormous, mystical eye appeared, casting its gaze down upon them, vast and dark, as if filled with ancient knowledge and untold power. A chill swept through the air as Tesla’s voice, filled with authority, echoed across the land:

“The contract… is fulfilled.”

A complex, radiant pattern appeared, illuminating the entire northern battlefield. What seemed like an awe-inspiring magic was in fact nothing more than Tesla’s illusionary effect—a dramatic presentation by his Spatial Tower system.

In truth, the moment Sofia signed, the transfer was complete, and Tesla’s campus was free to take root. As soon as the land became part of the campus, Tesla could relocate the Space Tower, opening the way for a legendary showdown.

On the northern ground, a bolt of lightning streaked along the boundary defined by Sofia, creating an intricate, precise division of the space within from that outside. The elemental forces of the earth began to bubble and churn.

Suddenly, a black point emerged at the center of the area, like a droplet of water creating ripples on a calm lake, but this ripple was vast, expanding outward with a radius of one kilometer.

In the next breath, the ground began to tremble violently!

A five-story tower of wizardry, shimmering with purple and blue light, rose from the earth, standing tall before the advancing undead army.

The city had endured a night of fierce battle, with hundreds of thousands of skeleton soldiers filling the three-meter-deep moat and the eight-meter-high city walls. The death knights, transformed from elite riders, were poised to charge straight up to the city walls.

These death knights were far beyond what Sofia’s militia could resist.

But the mage tower performed a stunning act of precision, halting Brutus at the very moment of his imminent success, like a chain stretched across a river.

“You want to charge through? Fine! But you’ll have to dismantle my tower first.”

It was as if the entire city had been stripped bare, cornered like a defenseless girl at the end of an alley, yet Tesla’s presence told Brutus, “You can’t get in! No matter how you think about it, you can’t!”

This feeling of failure at the brink of victory was infuriating, even for Brutus, who was already dead.

Unable to contain his frustration any longer, the lich cursed, “Tesla, you bastard! Do you know who you’re up against? You can stop me once, but can you stop me forever? I am a great, eternal being!”

His threats echoed through the air, and the weight of his words sunk into the hearts of the city’s inhabitants.

Indeed!

Could they withstand this mad lich once, let alone countless times? Throughout history, creatures like this—“As long as you can’t find his phylactery, you can kill him a hundred times, and it won’t matter”—were the hardest to deal with.

More than fearing Brutus’s threat, everyone eagerly awaited Tesla’s response.

The mysterious eye in the sky let out a light chuckle.

“Funny! I’ve never dealt with a lich in this world before. Though you may not be a demigod lich, you’ll do. Remember, no lich’s phylactery can escape my Eye of Fate.”

Right! That was a boast on Tesla’s part.

Interestingly, despite being in this world for so long, Tesla still hadn’t adapted to the laws of Chaos Continent, which recorded everything one had done and used that to determine alignment.

Little did anyone know that the continent’s prophecy magic was based on this very principle.

What one had done was recorded, and what one hadn’t done—no matter how grand the claims—could not deceive genuine powerhouses.

Coincidentally, Brutus possessed a particularly unique spell.

It was a level six prophecy spell, Legendary Insight. Its power lay in discerning the truth behind a person, place, or thing’s legend.

While Tesla was busy boasting, Brutus quietly activated this spell.

Soon enough, the results came in!

The spell revealed that Tesla was telling the truth! Not only had he killed multiple demigod liches, but he had also discovered their phylacteries through mysterious means, eliminating them completely, both soul and body.

For the first time in his life, Brutus felt genuine fear!

He fell silent, leaving Tesla at a loss for words.

Tesla thought to himself: Wait, I’m just bragging about my tabletop RPG experiences before I crossed over, and you took that seriously? The reason I can find those phylacteries is that I’ve played through so many times; I can recite every location of the demigod liches’ phylacteries by heart, simply cheating my way over to search!
