Luo Yuxiu’s face turned pale. When Ling Yi went to draw the lots earlier, she had a bad feeling about it. But she didn’t expect him to draw the one she least wanted – to compete on the same stage as her two idols. Moreover, this assessment was crucial, and neither of them would feel good about losing.
Ling Yi, on the other hand, was momentarily stunned, but then excitement spread across his face. Competing with skilled practitioners was too thrilling, and he was eager to give it a try.
As Sui Li’er passed by Luo Yuxiu, she pursed her lips as if she wanted to say something but remained silent. Luo Yuxiu chuckled lightly and encouraged her, “Come on, Sui Li’er! Let’s do our best and put up a fight!”
Sui Li’er nodded gently and replied, “Let’s do it!”
After Zen Douzhi, Chen Ling, and Sui Li’er took their positions, Zen Douzhi politely stepped to the side and said to Chen Ling, “Big brother, it’s up to you!”
Chen Ling, however, turned to Sui Li’er and asked, “Do you want to try? We’ll be the first to attack.”
“Really? Can I?” Sui Li’er grinned, and Chen Ling nodded reassuringly, “Don’t worry, just have fun. With me here, we can’t lose.”
Zen Douzhi didn’t say anything on the side. Being the first to attack had its advantages, and it wouldn’t hurt to let Sui Li’er try. After all, Chen Ling had already said that they couldn’t lose with him around.
Sui Li’er said playfully, “Hehe, then I’ll give it a try.”
Her small hand gently pressed the keys on the keyboard. As her hands were small, reaching the characters far away took some effort, making her slower. This was her first time dealing with such a device, and she wasn’t familiar with the key positions or how to use fewer keys to form more characters, so her speed was quite slow.
Just as Sui Li’er was focused on pressing the keys.
〚 Ding~ Two minutes are up, unfinished spell, attack invalid. 〛
???
This was the first prompt for an unfinished spell at this stage of the competition. The people around all turned their attention to Sui Li’er.
The students from the God Academy couldn’t help but comment, “Wow, there’s still an unfinished spell? Well, you’re pretty, so I won’t make fun of you…”
“Maybe it’s her first time using this kind of machine, so she’s not familiar with it.”
“It’s also possible that she wanted to release too many spells and didn’t have enough time.”
One has to admit the power of good looks. If it were Zen Douzhi who hadn’t finished, he might have been ridiculed by now.
On the opposite side, Luo Yuxiu and Ling Yi both opened their mouths as if they wanted to say something but refrained from speaking. They simply glanced at each other and nodded simultaneously, exchanging some kind of communication.
Zen Douzhi had been observing the other side but upon hearing the prompt, he was speechless. However, he didn’t dare to comment and comforted himself inwardly, “It’s okay, big brother is still here.”
Sui Li’er turned back somewhat embarrassedly, “I’m sorry, Chen Ling…” She gently bit her lip, looking a bit self-blaming. Chen Ling had given her this opportunity, and she wasted it.
Chen Ling smiled and patted her little head, “It’s alright. Didn’t I tell you? Just have fun, with me here, we can’t lose.”
“Ugh~ Alright…” Sui Li’er’s attack had ended, and it was now Luo Yuxiu and Ling Yi’s turn to defend.
They had two minutes to edit the spells they would use for defense, but since Sui Li’er’s attack had been invalidated, they could even control the initiative and launch a counter-attack directly. And later, when they were to attack, they could attack twice in a row, gaining a significant advantage.
However, they both stood in front of the machine and did nothing. Luo Yuxiu was just playing with her phone, and Ling Yi had his hands in his pockets, looking nonchalant. Neither of them showed any intention to edit the spells.
They intended to let go of this opportunity to gain a significant advantage. They would never take advantage unfairly. If they wanted to win, it had to be fair and square, and if they were to lose, they would fight until the last moment, never giving up.
Both of them had this kind of character, which could be considered a kind of tacit understanding and a coincidence.
Soon, the voice of the machine sounded again:
〚 Ding! Time’s up, spell incomplete. 〛
Upon hearing this, people around turned their attention again, only to find that this time it was Luo Yuxiu and Ling Yi who hadn’t completed their spells.
Some were surprised and asked, “These two also didn’t finish? What’s going on?”
Smart people could easily tell, but they didn’t say anything.
Some of the God Academy’s students recognized Luo Yuxiu and Ling Yi at once.
“Isn’t that the young lady from the Luo family? The genius in creating magical machines.”
“Isn’t the guy the youngest son of the Ling family? Ling Yi.”
“These two also came this year. Quite interesting. I wonder if Ling Yi will become our junior. Haha, I don’t know if he wants to join the God Academy or the Devil Academy.”
“You guys…” Sui Li’er looked at Ling Yi and Luo Yuxiu on the opposite side in surprise and guessed that they were letting her go.
Luo Yuxiu smiled gently and made a gesture to cheer her on, “Go, Sui Li’er!”
“Yeah, go!” Sui Li’er responded.
Chen Ling felt even more fortunate when he saw this. Luckily he hadn’t bound himself to Luo Yuxiu.
Then, it was Ling Yi and Luo Yuxiu’s turn.
The machine on their side announced, 〚 Switch to defense, please edit the spells. Two minutes limit. 〛
Ling Yi glanced at Luo Yuxiu and said casually, “You go or me?”
“You go.”
Ling Yi nodded and walked nonchalantly to the machine. Ten seconds had already passed, but he didn’t seem to be in a hurry.
He glanced at Chen Ling and smiled gently, then raised his head and started typing on the keyboard with a loud sound.
Characters instantly appeared in the air in front of him, and they appeared at an extremely fast speed, faster than anyone else present. As a member of a prestigious family, Ling Yi had learned about this stuff long ago, so he was very skilled with it. He could easily type the desired spells even with his eyes closed, and his repertoire of spells was also terrifying. If time wasn’t a constraint, he could even type forbidden spells.
“Wow? Junior brother is impressive!”
The secret-looking runes in front of Ling Yi and the speed of their appearance amazed the people present.
“Junior brother’s hand speed is incredible!”
“With this level of proficiency, he could probably compete with everyone here.”
“The strength of this year’s freshmen is so strong.”
“Yes, there are indeed several students with impressive abilities.”
“Wow…” Sui Li’er looked at Ling Yi with envy and couldn’t help murmuring, “So impressive…” She quickly stopped herself mid-sentence and turned to look at Chen Ling. “Cough~ No, you’re the most impressive~”
She couldn’t praise others in front of Lord God! Otherwise, Lord God might get jealous~ Hehe~
Chen Ling smiled lightly in response but didn’t say anything.
〚 Ding~ Spell formed! 〛
〚 Advanced Aquarius Exclusive Spell · Thousand Nights of Darkness 〛
The machine on the opposite side suddenly made a sound.
“Thousand Nights of Darkness?”
People around were surprised and looked over. Even the instructors raised their eyebrows in astonishment.
〚 Thousand Nights of Darkness 〛is an extremely powerful offensive spell exclusive to Aquarius.
It is an advanced spell that requires at least a high-level Grand Mage to cast and uses at least tens of thousands of runes. In just under two minutes, Ling Yi completed this spell without a single mistake.
This was incredible, even more so because he wasn’t even an Aquarius. He memorized a spell exclusive to a different zodiac sign so proficiently. He might be the king of “being overqualified.”
The powerful energy emitted by the machine simulating the spell’s reaction made it clear to everyone, even those who didn’t know the spell, just how powerful it was.
“Isn’t this against the rules? Starting with such a strong spell?”
Zen Douzhi widened his eyes and looked at Chen Ling beside him. His expression seemed to say, Big brother, it’s your turn!
