9. Why is Scorpio’s jealousy so intense!?
15.
This is so frustrating!
My dignity as a man was ruthlessly trampled under his feet just like that.
This matter stuck in my throat, and there’s no way to let it go! I swear, I must gather evidence of his snoring and set it as my phone ringtone to mock him forever!
Afterward, we continued to meet up a few more times. It was mostly about having meals, chatting, and watching movies. The range of topics I discussed with him gradually expanded.
I’m sure most people have experienced this. Having a meal with a newly acquainted friend is always tinged with a bit of awkwardness, a bit of humility, and a larger portion of restraint. Then, as you spend more time together, you realize they’re just a person with no boundaries, much like Wei Nanlin.
Of course, when I say “no boundaries,” I mean he’s open-minded. Most of our conversations were about medical knowledge.
Truly.
I was also honored to get to know a Dr. Jia from the field of proctology. Wei Nanlin had him educate me about various rectal-related knowledge (mainly to frighten me).
Dr. Jia described the pain of hemorrhoids as if you’re sitting on the toilet and passing broken glass, feeling tearing sensations, and all with blood.
Just the thought of that image makes me feel a clenching sensation, ensuring I won’t be playing games while using the restroom again.
One afternoon, without any reservations, I mentioned to Wei Nanlin that I’ve been feeling dizzy and fatigued recently, in a tone similar to how I’d complain about being tired and bored in the office.
Usually, this would lead to a colleague saying, “Oh, me too. How about we order some takeout? Do you want fried chicken?”
However, Wei Nanlin responded with a worried expression, asking about the specifics of my condition and how long it’s been going on.
“It’s been quite a while. I’m used to it now; it’s not a big deal.”
In fact, I’m well aware of my own physical condition. Staying up late at night playing games, scrolling through social media, drawing comics—it all leads to inadequate blood circulation. But which young person isn’t like this?
But I never expected the doctor to take it seriously and suggest a full-body check-up for me.
After that test, it was clear that none of my indicators were up to par.
Wei Nanlin looked at my report and his expression turned serious. “Here’s what we’re going to do: starting from today, you’re coming to the gym with me to work out.”
“Huh?” I froze, my entire body stiffening. “Seriously?”
“Yes, you can’t continue like this.”
Hey! You can’t just casually announce that a man can’t continue like this ah!
16.
Just because of that casual remark, my leisure time was forcibly seized by Dr. Wei, turned into daily exercise.
I brought up this matter with my parents at the dining table, and they were both in agreement.
Dad: “Young people should be more active outdoors. Just look at you, a bundle of soft bones. You’re almost turning into a lump of mud! Your body isn’t as good as mine; I get sick with a fever and cold at the drop of a hat.”
I retorted, “But people should have some free time! I’m finally off work, exhausted to death, and you want me to exercise.”
Mom: “You just want to play games.”
“You can play games while sitting on the toilet,” Dad said.
“No, he said playing games while on the toilet can cause hemorrhoids.”
Mom: “Then don’t play, listen to the doctor. He’s right.”
My cursed mouth.
The next day, as soon as I got off work, someone sent me a voice message.
“Off work?”
“Just got off.”
“I’ll pick you up downstairs at your company.”
After work, Dr. Wei changed into lightweight sportswear. He looked radiant and didn’t have his sleeves to hide his well-defined muscles on his arms.
It’s an image I’ve never seen before.
I was completely amazed.
“Did you bring a change of clothes?” he asked.
I stared at his muscles and nodded, “I did, but I don’t have specific workout clothes, just a regular hoodie.”
“It’s fine, you can buy some later.”
On my first visit, the trainer took me through some tests, measuring things like endurance and body fat percentage. I have a slender build and low body fat, scoring 62 points, but the trainer said 70 points was the passing mark.
But don’t think I’m clueless, I know this is just a sales tactic!
“This machine must be rigged,” I whispered to Wei Nanlin.
“But mine scored 92.”
Wei Nanlin’s friend is the sales director of the gym, and he generously gave me a free quarterly trial pass.
“Can you build muscles in three months?”
Wei Nanlin: “You can if you train properly, but it won’t work if you just pose in front of the mirror and take pictures.”
“You’re quite humorous.”
By the way, Wei Nanlin’s social media is completely devoid of selfies. He exercises solely for his health.
Sometimes, I secretly rejoice, realizing that only I can see his body hehe.
The equipment area is filled with muscular men. Wei Nanlin stands out as a refined type, broad shoulders, narrow waist, long legs, with muscles not as developed as the trainers’, but symmetrical and attractive.
Since those things require some technique and endurance, it’s easy to strain muscles if you’re not careful. Wei Nanlin doesn’t recommend me, a complete beginner, to try randomly. He asked me to warm up on the treadmill for a while, and then he would teach me.
Before I even left the equipment area, a well-built man came up and tapped my shoulder. “You’re new here, aren’t you? I haven’t seen you before.”
I turned around and saw the words “Personal Trainer” on his T-shirt. He was holding a light-colored water bottle and had a deep smile that seemed very welcoming.
I nodded, “Yeah, it’s my first time here.”
“Let me teach you.”
“Do, do I have to pay?”
The man burst into laughter. “No need, it’s free.”
I had initially intended to practice on the treadmill for a while, but the coach took me straight to the strength area. He introduced me to the functions of different equipment and the muscles they target, demonstrating each one for me.
I did a few sets on the rowing machine, and my shoulder and arm muscles began to ache. It was a transition from novelty to pain.
“I can’t go on,” I practically collapsed on the rowing machine.
The coach pinched my shoulder and arm, saying, “Your muscles are weak. It’s been a while since you exercised, right? Do you usually run at home?”
I awkwardly chuckled, “I haven’t run since I graduated from college… I’m not really into exercising. I prefer lying down, it’s comfortable.”
The coach’s expression turned serious. “That won’t do. You need to improve your physical fitness. If you don’t exercise, your resistance will only weaken.”
As he spoke, he gave me a shoulder and neck massage with strong pressure. It was sore and tingly, yet strangely satisfying. The pressure briefly lifted for a couple of seconds, and when the sensation of pressure and warmth returned to my skin, I felt a shiver down my spine.
The coach’s gaze shifted behind me, his expression akin to a student caught by the teacher during school. I immediately straightened my back and turned my head.
Wei Nanlin asked with a smile, “Feeling comfortable?”
“Uh, quite comfortable, but the pressure is a bit strong.”
Wei Nanlin held onto my neck. “Follow me.”
I don’t know if you’ve ever had an adult grab your neck, just like grabbing the nape of a little dog’s neck. I followed awkwardly, and I’m sure if someone had taken a photo from behind, it would probably look like a chicken being caught in a cage meme.
