Due to overexertion, Yuan Xi ended up with a muscle strain in his leg.
When Director Li from Human Resources heard that a trainee had skipped class, he decided to check out who among his team was so undisciplined. However, before he even reached the practice room, he was greeted by a blood-curdling scream that sounded like someone was being slaughtered.
Quickly striding into the room, Director Li saw Yuan Xi lying on the floor in pain.
Two visibly shocked instructors stood nearby, while the other trainees gathered around, curiously watching the scene unfold.
Although muscle strains weren’t uncommon, no one had ever screamed so miserably before.
After being sent to the medical office, Yuan Xi looked pitifully at the doctor. Meeting the doctor’s skeptical gaze, Yuan Xi timidly tried to explain that he wasn’t actually a trainee.
The doctor was silent for a moment before looking at Yuan Xi with a kind smile and saying. “You’re welcome to explain.”
Yuan Xi: QAQ I wanted to explain earlier, but they didn’t even give me a chance!
Director Li had previously seen Fu Yunzou and Yuan Xi together in the elevator, so he immediately recognized Yuan Xi when he saw him.
Seeing Yuan Xi in such a pitiful state, Director Li began to sweat nervously.
This guy was the assistant to that person upstairs. Now that he was injured, how was Director Li supposed to explain this?
The two training instructors stood awkwardly to the side, their eyes darting nervously toward Yuan Xi.
None of them had expected that this boy who looked just like a trainee was actually the assistant of the person upstairs.
Meanwhile, the doctor in the medical office began examining Yuan Xi’s injury. After a quick check, he confirmed there was no serious damage and handed Yuan Xi an ice pack.
“You’ve got a muscle strain. Be mindful of your movements from now on. Start with some ice therapy, and I’ll write down some precautions for you to follow in the coming days.”
The doctor finished speaking and glanced at Director Li.
Director Li wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and promptly stepped forward. “Once the ice therapy is done, I’ll personally escort Xiao Yuan to Manager Yun.”
The doctor nodded, got up, and drew the white curtain closed.
Yuan Xi lowered his head, gazing pitifully at his leg as waves of pain continued to throb through it.
Gently pressing the ice pack against the strained area, a sharp sting and icy chill caused goosebumps to spread across his leg and the surrounding skin.
After icing for a while, the pain subsided slightly, and Yuan Xi manually pulled back the curtain.
The training instructors were nowhere to be seen. Outside, only Director Li and a tall, well-built boy, easily over 1.8 meters were waiting.
The moment Yuan Xi opened the curtain, Director Li immediately stepped forward and pulled the boy over to stand in front of him. “Xiao Yuan, since you’re having trouble moving, I asked Yu Fei to carry you upstairs.”
Yu Fei glanced at Yuan Xi, offering a small, shy smile that hinted at his reserved nature.
Yuan Xi smiled back awkwardly, only to see Yu Fei turn around and crouch down in front of him, his back facing him.
Yuan Xi: ??
After a moment of silence, Yu Fei, realizing Yuan Xi hadn’t moved, turned his head slightly and said softly. “Hop on, I’ll carry you.”
Yuan Xi looked at Director Li, intending to refuse, but the sharp pain in his leg when he shifted quickly changed his mind.
Reluctantly, he leaned forward and draped himself over Yu Fei’s back.
Yu Fei stood tall at over 1.8 meters while Yuan Xi was only around 1.76 meters.
With Yu Fei’s broad and sturdy build, Yuan Xi felt completely at ease while lying on his back, experiencing no discomfort at all.
Carrying Yuan Xi was effortless for Yu Fei who moved with ease as if there were no extra weight on him.
When Director Li escorted Yuan Xi upstairs, Fu Yunzou had already been monitoring Fu Yushen’s work via a video call for some time.
As the minutes ticked by with no sign of Yuan Xi returning, Fu Yunzou’s mood grew increasingly irritable.
At the sound of a knock on the door, he abruptly ended the call and turned his gaze toward the entrance.
Yu Fei entered the room with Yuan Xi on his back, following Yuan Xi’s directions to approach the desk beside Fu Yunzou.
Director Li trailed behind them, and as soon as he stepped in, he was met with Fu Yunzou’s dark, stormy expression.
“Manager Yun! I deeply apologize for this incident. It was a mistake on our part—someone mistook Assistant Yuan for a trainee and sent him to practice, which led to his muscle strain. This is entirely my fault, and I—”
Fu Yunzou’s icy demeanor didn’t soften until Yuan Xi had settled into a chair and Yu Fei stepped back to stand behind Director Li.
“Muscle strain?”
Fu Yunzou glanced at Yuan Xi’s subtle movements and instantly deduced where the injury was.
His dark, piercing eyes turned colder as they fixed on Director Li who immediately felt a chill running down his spine, as though icy winds were blowing against him.
“Y-Yes! This was my oversight.” Director Li stammered nervously. “Assistant Yuan looks so… youthful that they must have mistaken him for a trainee. It’s entirely my fault, and I assure you, I’ll improve the management to prevent this from happening again.”
Director Li’s expression was tense as he delivered his self-criticism, practically pleading for forgiveness.
Fu Yunzou remained silent, his gaze unwavering as he stared at the man. Yuan Xi, seated nearby, winced from the pain that surged intermittently through his leg.
The soothing effect of the ice pack had worn off, and the pain, now dull but persistent, began to stir again.
As Director Li continued his panicked monologue, Yuan Xi dared not move and instead kept his eyes fixed on the man in front of him.
But to Fu Yunzou, it seemed as though Yuan Xi’s gaze was focused elsewhere—on Yu Fei.
