The men who came to see Shen Yu’an today were either older in age or had rather unimpressive appearances.
After shaking her head countless times, Shen Yu’an finally slumped tiredly into her chair.
Just as she thought the ordeal might be over and she could catch a break, a man walked with a large belly and an oily, powdered face…
Once he arrived, he walked right in without paying her much attention.
The matchmakers and the people from Longxian Village outside the Shen household exchanged puzzled glances. Why was this person here?
This man was Mao Dafu, a nouveau riche from a neighboring village. However, he was already married to two women and was old enough to be Shen Yu’an’s father.
It didn’t seem likely that any matchmaker would invite him and potentially ruin their reputation.
Mao Dafu acted as if he was entering his own home, striding into the Shen family courtyard with great pomp.
However, before he even entered the house, he was stopped by the people from the Shen family who were in the courtyard.
Zhao Shi spoke up, asking, “Did you come to the wrong place?”
Mao Dafu tilted his head, using his nostrils to size up the people. He looked at Zhao Shi and asked, “Isn’t this the Shen family?”
Zhao Shi momentarily didn’t grasp his meaning and replied, “Yes.”
Mao Dafu smirked, revealing a set of disgustingly large yellow teeth.
With an air of superiority, he said, “That’s right, then. I’ve come to see that girl of yours. Bring her out for me to see.”
Zhao Shi’s facial expression almost twisted in disbelief. She suppressed a twitch at the corner of her mouth and retorted, “And who might you be to demand such a thing? Who sent you here?”
Zhao Shi glanced at the two matchmakers standing in the courtyard, both of whom shook their heads repeatedly, indicating that they had no connection with this man.
Mao Dafu grew furious at Zhao Shi’s reaction.
“You might not have seen me before, but you’ve definitely heard of the name Mao Dafu.”
“You’re here to find a groom for your girl, right? Let her come out. I’ll take a look, and if I like her, she can marry me.”
Annoyingly, Mao Dafu maintained an air of condescension as he spoke, acting as if bestowing his attention upon a girl would be an incredible honor.
The Shen family members: “…”

A matchmaker leaned in and whispered Mao Dafu’s identity to Song Shi.
The members of the Shen family didn’t show any politeness to him either. Shen Rong and Shen Ming half-invited, half-pushed him out.
Song Shi placed her hands on her hips and declared, “My daughter won’t marry you! Where do you think you’re coming from? Hurry and leave!”
Although Mao Dafu appeared overweight, he lacked strength. Either Shen Rong or Shen Ming alone could easily escort him out.
However, he had covered himself in so many kinds of cheap perfume that Shen Rong and Shen Ming struggled to breathe properly in his presence.
Pushed repeatedly backward without the ability to counter, Mao Dafu could only continue shouting in protest.
After catching her breath, Shen Yu’an heard what sounded like a pig being slaughtered in the courtyard. She quickly stood up and walked outside.
Since there was an appraisal today, Shen Yu’an had been forced to put on some makeup early in the morning.
Shen Yu’an originally had a cool and reserved appearance. With makeup on her face, she appeared softer, although her beauty remained undiminished.
As Mao Dafu was being pushed out, he happened to glance up and see Shen Yu’an. The initial trace of reluctance to leave turned into eager interest.
His eyes lit up as he looked at Shen Yu’an, and a repulsive drool lingered at the corner of his mouth.

Fei Yanchen returned there, his body covered in injuries, and Fei Dong hurried forward to support him.
He shot Fei Xi a stern look, then went out with their master. It was unbelievable that their master had ended up more severely injured than he was – truly useless.
