Yu Xuanwei left Wu Qingluan at her doorstep and, through the car window, said, “I’ll be back on Friday night,” before driving away.
The wind from the departing car was strong, carrying a chilly aura, as if it still held some unresolved anger. Wu Qingluan adjusted her hair, grateful she hadn’t worn a skirt today.
She couldn’t help but wonder what had offended this master. Ever since she finished the call with Xiao Yan, Yu Xuanwei had turned into a walking freezer, exuding an icy atmosphere.
Of course, Wu Qingluan didn’t think he was jealous. In her eyes, Yu Xuanwei wasn’t a normal person. His way of thinking and actions were so different from ordinary people. It was just that his face and physique were too captivating, and whenever she saw him, she couldn’t help her heart racing.
Her phone chimed, and she opened WeChat to find a selfie from Xiao Yan. His handsome face was incredibly youthful, and he was blowing a kiss toward the camera. His plump, pink lips looked very tempting.
This guy was trouble, no wonder he attracted so many fans.
Xiao Yan: “Sis, am I handsome?”
Wu Qingluan replied instantly: “Handsome!”
Xiao Yan sent another photo, this time unbuttoning his shirt.
“Sis, I’ve been working out a lot lately. My stamina has improved!” he messaged.
Wu Qingluan smiled but didn’t reply further.
After helping Grandma Zhou clean the courtyard, feed the chickens, and prepare some ingredients, the day quickly passed. Wu Qingluan checked the time and called Grandma Zhou to accompany her in picking up the triplets.
She was a bit anxious. “Grandma, Yu Xuanwei left. Do you think the kids will cry?”
Grandma Zhou remained calm. “They will definitely cry. Don’t expect a peaceful night.”
Wu Qingluan apologized weakly. “I’m sorry, Grandma, for causing you trouble.”
Grandma Zhou glared at her. “Why are you saying such formal things to me? Do you think this kind of small matter can trouble me?”
Wu Qingluan, feeling a bit awkward, remained silent and drove faster towards the kindergarten.
Upon arriving at the kindergarten, Wu Qingluan put on sunglasses and a hat, standing in line with other parents at the entrance. They patiently waited as the teachers brought the children out one by one.
When she spotted her obedient triplets following their teacher, Wu Qingluan’s eyes lit up. She happily waved at them.
The eldest and the second child both smiled at her, but the youngest one quickly shook off his teacher’s hand and rushed toward her, saying, “Mom, I missed you so much!”
“Oh, you’re so heavy!” Wu Qingluan exclaimed as she lifted the youngest child into her arms, hugging him tightly.
With her three adorable children in tow, Wu Qingluan left the kindergarten after thanking the teachers. Her youthful beauty and the charm of her kids attracted admiring glances from those around them.
After the triplets got into the car, the eldest child, with a composed expression, turned to Wu Qingluan and her grandmother in the front seat and asked, “Did my father leave?”
Wu Qingluan’s heart skipped a beat. Indeed, he was starting to look for his dad! She cleared her throat and, with a loving smile, turned around, saying, “He went to work, but he’ll come to be with you on Friday. Will you be good and play with Auntie these days?”
The eldest child nodded solemnly, “Okay.”
The second and third children exchanged an excited glance.
Unaware of their true thoughts, Wu Qingluan breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that the triplets showed no signs of crying or fussing. She started the car and said, “Let’s go home! Grandma has prepared lots of delicious food for you!”
There was no crying as expected, but the mischievousness of the youngest child exceeded all expectations!
While Wu Qingluan was serving food, the youngest child dashed into the chicken flock, scattering the chickens and causing chaos in the entire yard.
Wu Qingluan heard the commotion and had just placed the dishes on the table when a disheveled mother hen flew into the house in panic and landed on the dining table.
“Snap!” A fresh pile of chicken droppings fell into the steaming hot food.
“Ha-ha-ha, run, run!” The youngest child’s laughter continued.
Wu Qingluan rushed outside and saw the youngest child chasing the chickens with a handful of willow branches, while the second child watched with excitement, ready to join in the fun.
Where was the eldest child? Wu Qingluan looked around and found him squatting in front of a chicken nest, staring at a warm egg in his hand, completely lost in his own world.
Wu Qingluan covered her forehead. Oh my goodness… she dashed forward in a single step, snatched the willow whip from the youngest child, and said, “You can’t scare them anymore. They might get sick. This is Grandma’s precious chicken!”
The youngest child seemed oblivious, lowering his head and wriggling out from under her arm. He pounced on a large rooster and shouted, “See if you dare to run!”
The rooster responded with an angry growl.
Wu Qingluan sensed that something was wrong. “Be careful…”
Before she could finish her sentence, the youngest child let out a scream. He had been pecked on the hand by the rooster.
The rooster, seemingly infused with newfound strength, broke free from the youngest child and, with red eyes, started pecking, scratching, and pecking at him frantically. It left the youngest child flailing and wailing in agony.
To make matters worse, other chickens joined in, taking out their frustration on the youngest child.
By the time Wu Qingluan rescued him from the chicken mob, he was dirty and smelly, with his face and hands swollen and red, looking utterly miserable.
“Mom, it hurts so much!” The youngest child clung to Wu Qingluan, crying loudly in pain.
Wu Qingluan felt both sorry for him and exasperated, thinking he had brought this upon himself. “See if you dare to bully them again. First, let’s get you cleaned up in the bath.”
Wu Qingluan thoroughly washed the youngest child in the bathtub and then brought him out to eat. She said, “After dinner, I’ll take you to the hospital just in case. If the wound gets infected, it could be troublesome.”
“Mom, there’s no need to go to the hospital. I’m fine now,” the youngest child replied, showing some resilience after his crying spree.
“Well, I can’t just ignore it. You…” Wu Qingluan’s words trailed off as she stared at the youngest child. She carefully examined his face and then grabbed his chubby little hand. Surprisingly, the marks from the chicken pecks on his face, hands, and arms had disappeared, leaving his skin smooth and unblemished.
“Auntie, come eat,” the second child said softly.
“Okay,” Wu Qingluan said, glancing at the youngest child and then at the second child. The second child’s eyes, resembling peach blossoms, were now glistening with tears, making them look particularly beautiful.
In the brief moment of distraction, the youngest child had already squirmed out of her arms and was sitting at the dining table, eating his meal.
Wu Qingluan lightly shook her head, feeling like she had forgotten something important just now. However, she couldn’t recall what it was, so she decided to let it go.
After dinner, she took the triplets for a walk to aid digestion. She urged them to go to bed at 8 PM.
Fortunately, there were no more surprises before bedtime, and all three children went to sleep obediently.
Wu Qingluan gave each of the three children a goodnight kiss before leaving their rooms. The youngest child even requested an extra goodnight kiss.
As she exited the youngest child’s room, Wu Qingluan remembered something and went downstairs to retrieve an item. She then gently pushed open the door to the youngest child’s room.
Wu Qingluan tiptoed into the room, and the youngest child was already lying in bed with his eyes closed, fast asleep.
She placed a shiny golden rope on the bedside table.
Earlier, Yu Xuanwei had suggested using this golden rope to restrain the youngest child if he misbehaved, but Wu Qingluan had vehemently rejected the idea. However, Yu Xuanwei still left the golden rope with her, later claiming it was the youngest child’s toy, and that he couldn’t sleep peacefully without it.
After spending these past few days with the youngest child, Wu Qingluan realized that he could be quite a handful, so she recalled the golden rope.
The golden rope gleamed brightly, indeed resembling a toy.
After placing the golden rope on the bedside table, Wu Qingluan couldn’t help but admire the cute, chubby face of the youngest child for a moment. She smiled and left the room.
As soon as Wu Qingluan left, the youngest child quickly got up, agilely moved to open the window. Suddenly, he heard a familiar hissing sound, and his scalp tingled involuntarily.
The youngest child turned around, and there, the coiled golden rope had somehow risen upright, hissing like a snake and sticking out a golden tongue, making a hissing sound.
There was no longer a golden rope to be seen; instead, a long, slender golden snake was coiled on the bedside table, with a pair of golden vertical pupils fixedly staring at him.
The youngest child had already climbed onto the windowsill, but upon seeing the golden snake, he slowly lowered his legs back down.
The golden snake ignored his scolding and circled around him, eventually coiling up into a ball near his head.
The youngest child gave a resentful glare to the golden snake, then abruptly pulled the blanket over his head.
Wu Qingluan herself hadn’t expected that she would get along so well with the triplets.
On Friday afternoon, as agreed, Yu Xuanwei arrived, accompanying Wu Qingluan to pick up the children and then driving her to the airport.
“Mom, I want to go with you!” The youngest child sulkily leaned against the car window.
The older two also looked at her with reluctance.
Oh my goodness! Wu Qingluan covered her nearly melted heart. “Darlings, I promise I’ll be back the day after tomorrow, and I’ll bring you lots of gifts!”
The triplets all nodded, especially when Yu Xuanwei was present, the youngest child didn’t dare to speak much.
Wu Qingluan entered the VIP channel and headed straight to the departure lounge. She waved at Yu Xuanwei. “Goodbye.”
Wu Qingluan heard footsteps approaching from behind and turned around in surprise.
Yu Xuanwei caught up to her and held her tightly in his arms.
“You…” Wu Qingluan’s words were silenced by Yu Xuanwei’s lips.
Yu Xuanwei was actually kissing her!
His fiery and purely masculine presence enveloped her, and Wu Qingluan’s legs turned weak…
