“Yes, even if they open another one, what’s the difference? I don’t think anyone will patronize this grain store,” remarked one person.
“If their grain prices are a bit lower than the other three, I’d be willing to buy some,” another added.
“Still calling it the ‘Auspicious Grain Store.’ In this world, there’s no such thing as auspiciousness,” someone else chimed in.
The conversations of passersby continued, while Shen Yu’an concealed herself in the crowd, quietly listening. Feng San and Feng Si remained silent.
News of another grain store opening in town quickly spread to every household, including the other three grain merchants.
Without exception, these three grain merchants didn’t pay much attention to the news brought by their servants.
After all, it was just another grain store, unlikely to steal much of their business.
Before long, these people would deeply regret their current thoughts.
Because not only did they lose their business, but they also lost a substantial amount of money.
Indeed, there seemed to be no place to complain or plead innocence.
But all of this was a story for later. At this moment, Feng San and Feng Si had just hung up the signboard. After exchanging a few words about the grand opening tomorrow and inviting everyone to attend, they closed the door and returned to their courtyard.
As the night grew deeper, Liang Hui, accompanied by Feng San and Feng Si, pushed a cart towards the small courtyard that Shen Yu’an had mentioned.
They had underestimated the quantity of these grains. When they saw the room filled with grains, they were so astonished that they almost forgot why they had come.
Feng San, excited, rushed into the room, opened one of the bags of grain, and took a handful, examining it closely in his hand.
He exclaimed, “Mr. Liang, these are all top-quality grains.”
“Where did Miss Shen find such friends? To be able to obtain this much grain, it’s likely not something an ordinary person can accomplish,” he marveled.
Liang Hui warned, “We shouldn’t inquire about things we shouldn’t know. Our job is to do good deeds for the Crown Prince.”
Feng San and Feng Si assured him that they wouldn’t pry into things they shouldn’t. Only then did the three of them begin to lift the bags of grain onto the cart and transport them to the store, one load at a time.
In the deep silence of the night, only the sounds of Liang Hui and his companions’ heavy breathing and the rolling of the cart wheels could be heard.
They had initially thought that a few hundred pounds of grain would suffice for their first time. However, they were taken by surprise to find so much grain. It took them the entire night to transport all the grain to the store.
After a brief rest, the three of them were ready to wait for the grand opening on the following noon.
The previous day, when Shen Yu’an returned home, she informed her family about her trip to the town today. She also asked a few of them to accompany her to the town. Shen Yu’an’s intention for them to go to town was to help her clean up the three-story house.
That way, if they had any urgent matters, they wouldn’t have to rush back. Shen Rong could also stay there with Wulang and Liulang, and Hua Nan and Hua Ling, without having to make daily trips between the town and the village.
The Shen family knew about the purchase of the house, but they were genuinely unaware of the new grain store opening in town.
Shen Yu’an only mentioned that it was a store arranged by Fei Yanchen’s people.
However, when the Shen family recalled Fei Xi’s previous visit to their home and his comment about not being able to buy grain, they knew that this store must be closely connected to Shen Yu’an.
Shen Rong continued to take the four children to the school in the usual manner.
Apart from a few elderly family members and Xiao Zhang, who looked after two children at home, everyone else followed Shen Yu’an to the town.
They had not yet gone to the county to find a more suitable school because they had discovered that Mr. Ji, with his profound knowledge, surpassed even Ji Xun. They regarded him as their mentor.
So, Mr. Ji decided to join them in going to the town for some excitement.
If they found a suitable house in town, he would stay there with Shen Dalang and the others and teach them.
Everyone was thrilled by this idea, so they all went to the town together.
