The Duke’s Daughter is Involved in Magical Technology Chapter 31.2

Apart from her stunned “wow,” Karina was nearly speechless. While she always admired Aresia’s skills, she hadn’t imagined they extended to creating magical devices—especially something as unique and never-before-seen as this.

Kneeling down, utterly astonished, Karina realized that this magical hoverboard had the power to captivate anyone’s attention.

In sheer amazement, Karina’s mouth opened wide, releasing an unending stream of praise, exalting Aresia’s incredible craftsmanship.

However, Aresia halted Karina’s continuing praise, saying, “It’s just a simple mode of transport; it’s not as amazing as you’re making it out to be.”

In truth, magical hoverboards were quite rare in their world, accessible to very few due to their scarcity and costliness. From child-friendly versions to high-end branded ones, the prices of branded magical hoverboards were staggering. The one she crafted was a basic model, something that a moderately skilled mage could conjure.

Karina disagreed, saying, “How can this be simple? I bet even a skilled alchemist couldn’t create something like this! I haven’t seen anything like it before.”

Aresia didn’t engage in the debate. Her response was that considering how the concept of the magical hoverboard appeared simple now, it was initially a monumental task. In truth, when this invention had first emerged in her world it had caused quite a stir.

The principle behind the magical hoverboard wasn’t inherently complex. However, its construction required a considerable understanding of magical knowledge already widespread in their world. Although it wasn’t a forbidden area of magical research, it represented an area of magic that hadn’t been explored extensively in this world—an oversight in understanding.

Changing the subject, Aresia mentioned, “This reminds me; I should implement some security measures on these.”

Aresia had used rare materials to craft these magical hoverboards, making their price quite steep. However, by substituting certain materials, she managed to control the cost to a mere ten gold coins. Yet, selling them could potentially fetch thousands or even tens of thousands of gold coins. In a world without patent rights, she planned to take measures to safeguard the manufacturing process to prevent it from being stolen and reproduced.

Though the magical hoverboard wasn’t a publicly known invention, this particular version was her researched creation. If someone stole it for profit, it would be deeply distressing.

Aresia had a penchant for wealth. Having lost her parents at a young age, she funded her education through scholarships and part-time work. Being a mage, her focus and passion for research incurred significant expenses. Earning money was important to her, even to the point of considering establishing a textile factory.

With the hoverboards underway, Aresia considered building an alchemy workshop. Initially focusing on hoverboard production, she aimed to channel any subsequent research into marketable products.

Ensuring the secrecy of the magical hoverboards was crucial, not just for her sake but also for their safety in their current circumstances.

The hoverboard with handlebars was incredibly easy to maneuver. Karina quickly learned how to operate it upon trying.

Excited and eager, Karina asked Aresia, “Can I really use it? In the dorms or in class?”

Aresia mounted her own hoverboard and nodded. “Yes, there’s nothing wrong with that.”

Sure, let’s start by driving the magical hoverboard.

Completely forgetting the Duke’s warning, Aresia didn’t find it important to inform him about this, as in her perspective, this magical hoverboard was no more than a child’s toy. To her, it was less significant compared to her other magical inventions.

The hoverboard was equipped to maneuver on stairs and had a durable structure. If one didn’t fear the sensation of rapid descent, they could easily leap out of windows due to its height restrictions, giving the feeling of a bungee jump before stopping at about half a meter from the ground. Although Aresia didn’t encourage such attempts and had safety measures in place, the fear of the descent made some lose control of the hoverboard and get thrown off.

No physical injuries, but some were left shaken.

They delayed a bit in the room, and upon leaving, most people on this floor had already gone upstairs. Though there were a few in the stairwell, it didn’t hinder Aresia from continuing with the magical hoverboard.

Karina followed closely behind.

As the magical hoverboard glided down the stairs, bystanders were left stunned. Aresia casually greeted those she recognized, continuing on, while Karina couldn’t contain her amused smile.

Along the way to the classroom, the hoverboard attracted attention. Upon arriving, the class was abuzz with questions, everyone wanted to know where they could purchase such a thing.

“We didn’t buy it. Aresia made it herself.!”

At this point, Karina was caught off guard. She lifted her gaze upwards, silently agreeing that she hadn’t dared to mention Aresia’s impressive capabilities.

Truthfully, this wasn’t Aresia’s first creation. But revealing that would be a stretch.

Aresia’s holiday this month was approaching, and she didn’t plan to request special leave to return to her father, the Duke, despite his concerns about her idleness interfering with her studies.

Instead of taking a regular leave, she made a detour to the Gryphon Legion.

Because Amos’s birthday was approaching, she needed to deliver his gift.

Although it was possible to send the gift through someone else, Aresia felt it was important to deliver it personally.

She received a letter notifying her that a carriage was arranged to pick her up, with Amos himself waiting on the side.

“Good day, Miss Aresia, you look even more radiant.”

The sincere praise came from the steward. Aresia’s height had been increasing lately, her features gradually departing from their youthful innocence into something more striking. Notably, her body’s curves were becoming more pronounced.

To anyone’s eye, she was evolving into a person with an extraordinary presence.

The steward thought it might be time to have a tailor take Aresia’s measurements for new clothes. The sleeves of her school uniform were half a centimeter short.

“Good day, Aaron, you seem in a good condition.”

Aresia’s observation was no mere formality. Aaron indeed appeared more vibrant than the last time she saw him. Even his formerly graying hair seemed to show faint signs of reversal, and the lines on his face appeared smoother, as if he’d received top-notch skincare or a magical potion.

Aresia knew this wasn’t a magical potion; her gaze fixed on Aaron’s right shoulder.

Suddenly, an Arachness Spider peek and gently come out of his collar.

The humanoid upper body of the Arachness Spider was a graceful sight, as usual. Its face was gender-neutral, making it impossible to discern its gender from observation. Aresia judged it to be a male Arachness by the vivid patterns on its spider half.

This Arachnes Spider had five arms, noticeably more than before. Its height was around eight centimeters taller, resembling a fairy but far more perilous.

Dressed in what seemed like a formal suit, its upper body displayed the spider anatomy, with its eight claws firmly fixed on the steward’s shoulder.

The humanoid portion of the Arachnes Spider wasn’t entirely human-like. Its face, designed to lure opponents, featured spider eyes instead of typical human eyes: one large eye where a human eye would be, and two smaller ones side by side on the forehead, partially concealed by longer bangs. These pure black spider eyes observed Aresia intently, seemingly assessing any potential danger.

It was hard to believe that this small creature now, would be slightly taller than an average human in the future.

Smiling gently at this young Arachnes Spider, Aresia commented, “You have an adorable child here.”

Upon hearing this, the steward chuckled and lightly tapped the creature’s shoulder, leading to an affectionate embrace.

“Yes, it’s more lovable than I am.”
