“Stop–“
The sound of a whistle and the thud of Young Master Gu falling onto the lawn echoed at the same time.
Yuan Hanshuang straightened up, about to ask if they could go to the cafeteria early to grab a meal when she saw her psychic teacher, Xiao Yunmeng, hurrying over with a frowning face.
“Why are you using physical techniques in this simulated battle?” the psychic teacher asked.
Facing her teacher’s question, Yuan Hanshuang looked particularly innocent. “But teacher, you just said we should treat our classmates as hostile gifted individuals and experience the atmosphere of real combat.””In real combat, don’t we use every means to gain victory?” she responded.
Yuan Hanshuang had been hungry for three days and was eager to go to the cafeteria for a meal. Her head was buzzing as she walked, and she just wanted to finish the battle quickly.
Choosing the fastest solution within the available options was her life principle. Besides, she had only performed a shoulder throw, not even using her own favorite martial arts technique. Her attack had been quite light!
Yuan Hanshuang: I swear I didn’t bully the kid.
Xiao Yunmeng: “…” Why does it feel like she’s the one teaching me a lesson?
But it was fine; she did say those words.
There were two main ways for gifted individuals to attack: Manifestation combat and resonance combat.
The first method involved directly summoning a manifestation and giving it commands to battle.
The second method involved resonating with one’s own manifestation. In a resonant state, a gifted individual’s basic physical abilities would be significantly enhanced, resulting in a synergistic effect where one plus one is greater than two. Currently, the mainstream combat method in the interstellar world leaned more towards resonance combat. The rumors Yuan Hanshuang had heard before mentioned that gifted individuals could traverse the universe physically, referring to resonance combat.
As the saying goes, a gifted individual’s success is 30% talent and 70% hard work.
There’s nothing much to say about manifestation levels; it all depends on luck. With hard work, the range of options available becomes broader. People go to great lengths to increase the combat capabilities of gifted individuals.
Even the course schedule prepared by the junior academy for newly enrolled students was no exception. It included activities like running with weights, lifting dumbbells, pull-ups, and push-ups. They didn’t treat the kids as kids at all; the intensity was mind-boggling.
In summary, using physical techniques in gifted individuals’ duels was nothing out of the ordinary.
But no one expected that in this situation, a little girl who had just entered the academy would charge forward and perform a perfect shoulder throw, flawlessly executing the move and instantly defeating her opponent.
The combat teacher from the neighboring senior department immediately stood up, looking shocked. “No unnecessary movements, perfect control of force application, and a technique as skillful as a master. Shoulder throws are usually taught in advanced combat classes, yet she has already mastered it… Is she really just nine years old?”
Even by his strict standards, she would easily score full marks.
“I did say that everyone should treat it as real combat training.”
Glancing at his colleague who joined in to criticize him, the psychic teacher gave him a harsh look. “This class is about psychic abilities, and even if we want to experience the atmosphere of real combat, the focus should be on Manifestation attacks. I did overlook that earlier and failed to emphasize this point.”
“So, does that mean we have to have another match, teacher?”
“That’s right.”
While they were talking, Young Master Gu struggled to get up from the grass.
His face was as ugly as if he had been slapped in public, hot with anger, as he stared at the little Golden-haired girl standing not far from him.
“Fine.” Yuan Hanshuang shrugged. “Let’s have another match using Manifestation.”
Back in her original position, her worried teammate looked at her with admiration, completely in awe. “You’re amazing! That move just now was so cool. I didn’t even see clearly, and Young Master Gu was already thrown to the ground…”
After this battle, in Ke Junda’s eyes, Yuan Hanshuang’s petite figure suddenly became towering.
Because of that swift and decisive shoulder throw, their duel garnered unprecedented attention. Many teachers from the senior classes came over to watch, and even the combat teacher Hong Nian brought a chair, not hiding his admiration for this child.
“Prepare, the battle begins!” the psychic teacher announced with a whistle.
This time, Yuan Hanshuang didn’t rush forward, but instead brushed off some grass from her body. She sat down on the playground, closed her eyes, and began to activate her manifestation ability.
The opponents also set up their formation. Almost simultaneously, a fiery-striped tiger, a green caterpillar, a diamond parrot, and a koi fish emerged from the pale blue psychic ripples.
The other common Manifestations that could be seen everywhere didn’t attract much attention, but the small red tiger, about the size of a kitten, captured everyone’s gaze.
“This child’s manifestation is actually a fiery-striped tiger?”
A senior teacher looked surprised. “A powerful Manifestation that is well-known. There’s no doubt they can make it to the top seven in the prestigious exams.”
“After all, he is the young master of the Gu family, inheriting their family’s signature Manifestation.” The psychic teacher shrugged. “Although he is from a collateral branch, he carry the blood of the Gu family. His genes are there from birth, and while his starting point may not be as high, his potential is unmatched by ordinary people.”
“That’s true.”
Hearing the exclamations and discussions around, as well as the envious gazes from all sides, Young Master Gu’s expression improved significantly. He regained his usual confident and arrogant demeanor, looking down on others.
Although he was from a collateral branch of the Gu family, he was one of the most talented individuals among his generation.
Before undergoing Manifestation awakening, Young Master Gu had been using the family’s secret techniques to train his willpower, investing a great deal of time and effort. He worked tirelessly day and night, sacrificing sleep and food, finally achieving his desired awakening of the Gu family’s signature Manifestation.
The fiery-striped tiger ranked 52nd on the interstellar Manifestation rankings and was a powerful manifestation that countless people dreamt of.
With such a formidable Manifestation, even with a slightly lower starting point, they would undoubtedly reach the A rank in the future. Their potential was limitless.
Without a doubt, among the peers they had encountered from childhood to now, Young Master Gu was always the most outstanding one.
He had never lost, so the recent defeat was particularly hard for him to accept.
“Fiery-striped tiger, tear them apart!”
Young Master Gu commanded his manifest with an imposing manner, launching an attack towards the opponent.
On the other side, Ke Junda had just summoned the diamond parrot and looked up to see the flaming-haired tiger. He was instantly reminded of his previous disastrous experience when he first enrolled, and his face turned pale.
Last time, when competing with this Young Master Gu for the top spot, he was directly ordered by the opponent to have the fiery striped tiger use its brute force to tear apart the diamond parrot, resulting in Young Master Gu’s victory. Although manifest combat was not as prone to injuries as resonance combat, the damage rendered to the manifest had left Ke Junda dizzy for a long time, making him feel somewhat hopeless at the moment.
In his panic, Ke Junda had no choice but to gather himself and hastily give the command, “Diamond parrot, defend!”
While ordinary manifestation couldn’t speak, the diamond parrot, being a species with unique characteristics, flapped its wings in panic and chirped all around, “Help! The bird doesn’t want to be beaten! The bird doesn’t want to be beaten!” It was clear that he was not the only one who had been affected by Young Master Gu.
“Who will save the bird? Who will save the bird?”
“No, the difference is too great.” The teachers shook their heads on the side.
Naturally, they could see that Ke Junda wanted to use his own manifest to block the fiery-striped tiger’s attack.
However, the intensity of the fiery-striped tiger was too great. It excelled in close combat and was capable of easily overpowering a slightly higher-level novice. In a battle against the diamond parrot, which was also a zero-tier intermediate manifestation, it effortlessly tore through its defense, causing Ke Junda to retreat repeatedly and almost unable to maintain his Manifestation.
“This formidable attacking power… No wonder it’s well-known. Today, we’ve truly witnessed something.”
Another senior teacher sighed. “The starting point for talented individuals with awakened rare Manifestation is different from others. In contrast, our students from 1999 Star are all commoners. Without the bloodline of a family and with limited resources for cultivation, it’s clear that being born into a good family is also a skill.”
Indeed, that was the case.
The onlooking teachers sighed in their hearts.
Although they were teachers at the Junior Academy and were respected in the 1999 Star System, they were nothing when compared to the Central Galaxy.
The truly talented individuals would receive offers from various military departments or other major organizations after graduation. Only those without abilities or connections like them would be assigned to remote galaxies as poor teachers.
“I remember Ke Junda was also born a commoner. It’s already impressive for him to awaken as a C-level manifestation. With some effort in the future, he might be able to make it out. There’s also another young female student who excels in physical combat and has great potential for violent close-quarters combat. If they hadn’t encountered the Fiery Stripped Tiger, they might have already won. It’s a pity… hmm?”
While the onlooking teachers were expressing their opinions, the situation on the field suddenly took a turn.
” Fiery Stripped Tiger, continue your attack!”
After tearing through the defenses of the Diamond Parrot, Young Master Gu didn’t let Fiery Stripped Tiger stop.
His target was never Ke Junda, but Yuan Hanshuang. With new grievances added to old resentments, he had to teach her a lesson, or else where would he put his face?
Dealing with one hostile manifest, the Fiery Stripped Tiger’s momentum surged, flames burning fiercely on its head as it stared menacingly at the only remaining Koi Fish on the opposite side.
Compared to the tiger, the already small Koi Fish seemed even smaller, as if it could be bitten off with just a light bite.
Feeling his master’s determination, the young tiger raised its head and let out a roar, pawing at the ground, then charged forward like a dart.
What was originally an unsurprising turn of events surprised everyone. It was Young Master who grunted and retreated.
“What’s going on?”
This unexpected change stunned all the watching teachers and students. Ke Junda rubbed his slightly throbbing head, looked up, and his mouth almost dropped open wide enough to fit an egg inside.
Everyone could see it clearly. The Fiery Stripped Tiger pushed forward with a fierce posture, while Yuan Hanshuang’s red and white Koi Fish appeared weak, pitiful, and helpless in the face of the massive difference in size.
When the tiger’s claws were about to reach, the Koi Fish suddenly flicked its tail, assuming a defensive posture.
But it was this flick of the tail that effortlessly blocked the Fiery Stripped Tiger’s attack.
Compared to the intricate and frequent maneuvers in synchronized battles, the battles between manifestations were much faster, with just one encounter enough to determine the outcome.
There was no doubt that Young Master Gu had lost.
But how was that possible? The powerful manifestation, renowned on the manifestation Ranking List, actually lost to an ordinary and common manifestation that could be found anywhere?
The Diamond Parrot, with half of its wing dispersed, raised its arms and exclaimed, “Wow! Wow! Teammate carrying and winning!”
Not only were they surprised, even Yuan Hanshuang was a bit dazed.
After the daze, she suddenly felt dizzy and fell to the ground.
The psychic teacher was the first to summon his own manifestation and helped the little girl up.
