Chapter 15: The Comical Wedding Night

The moment Gu Ye walked in, Baoni knew right away. After all these years of training from Old Jiang, it had become a conditioned reflex.

“Is everyone gone?” Baoni sat up and asked the last person left.

“They’ve all left. Big Brother went to my dorm. Have you eaten?” Gu Ye had been told by Mother Lin beforehand that Lin Baoni had a big appetite, so he was worried she might not have eaten enough or might be shy about it.

“I’ve eaten. You should go wash up.” Baoni was incredibly tired; she had been woken up early and hadn’t had enough sleep.

Gu Ye awkwardly turned and went out. Was it really necessary to rush? It wasn’t even fully dark yet.

After washing up, Gu Ye, wearing a short-sleeve shirt and big shorts, stood outside the bedroom door. He took a deep breath, clenched his fists, and pushed the door open.

Baoni had already lay down, leaving an empty spot beside her for Gu Ye. She really just wanted to ignore everything and fall asleep.

Gu Ye gently sat on the bed, thought for a moment, and then unhesitatingly lay down. He didn’t even bother to pull the covers; it wasn’t cold anyway.

Lin Baoni was also silently complaining. With so many blankets, why was there only one on the bed? She hadn’t noticed earlier, and now if she got up to grab one, wouldn’t it look too deliberate? It would be a little strange.

The two of them lay side by side on the bed, not speaking or moving, as if they were playing a game of “statues” — no moving allowed!

Baoni felt a bit anxious inside.

What did this mean? Was he unsure, or was he just shy?

Was this how things were going to go tonight?

Baoni had read some novels before, where the female protagonist would marry right after time travel, and on the wedding night, they were unfamiliar with each other and slept apart.

Was that what was going to happen to her too?

Is he questioning my gender?

Couldn’t it be obvious from her walk or some other little detail whether she was a woman or a girl?

If that happened, what if nothing happened and she returned to her family?

Would they notice?

Would her mother and grandmother be worried?

Would Wang Daya and the others gossip about her again?

All these chaotic thoughts kept her awake, and her mind felt like a bunch of little people fighting. It made her toss and turn in bed, unable to get comfortable.

Gu Ye, who was lying next to her, also felt out of place.

From childhood to adulthood, apart from the few years he spent with his mother, he had never been so close to a female comrade.

And now, suddenly, there was a person next to him—someone who kept moving around.

He wasn’t used to it.

“Don’t move. Go to sleep.” Gu Ye could no longer take it and spoke out to stop Lin Baoni.

“Big Brother, do you even know what day it is today?” Baoni was irritated.

She was already tired, but with all these thoughts running through her head, she couldn’t sleep.

She was already upset, and now he was adding fuel to the fire.

She sat up angrily in a flash.

Gu Ye had great eyesight. Even in the darkness, he could see Lin Baoni’s wide eyes. “What day is it?” He couldn’t resist teasing her.

“What day is it? It’s our wedding night, you fool!” Baoni was so flustered that she didn’t even notice Gu Ye was joking.

“Now that you know, how do you plan to spend it?” Gu Ye found himself enjoying the sight of Lin Baoni getting so worked up. Maybe he was a little crazy.

Baoni, finally calming down, tilted her head and took a look in the darkness. “You’re not… not able to, are you?” Her tone was firm, almost as if to say, you can’t, right?

Gu Ye could tell that she was questioning him, but he tolerated it. He quickly sat up. “How could I not know? How dare you doubt me, I’ll show you.”

The rebellious side deep inside Gu Ye was activated.

He reached out and pulled Baoni toward him, lowering his head to kiss her.

“Smack… smack…”

Baoni slapped Gu Ye a few times with her hand.

“What’s wrong?” Gu Ye asked, confused.

“Are you trying to suffocate me? A kiss is a kiss, but you’re pressing my nose!” Baoni was sure that this guy had zero experience—this was his first kiss!

“You think you can do it? Then go ahead.” Gu Ye suddenly lay down on the bed, clearly irritated.

In fact, he wasn’t confident. He really didn’t know how to kiss.

Isn’t it just lips touching lips?

“I’ll do it, I’ll do it.” Baoni wasn’t the type to shy away from things. She recalled the kissing scenes she had seen in her mind and pounced on Gu Ye.

Baoni licked Gu Ye’s lips.

Last time, she had been too focused on saving him and hadn’t paid attention. This guy actually had quite full lips.

Gu Ye lay there, and when Lin Baoni pounced on him, she almost knocked him over.

It was a professional reflex!

Then, he felt the difference between a man and a woman. It was small, light, but very soft—unlike a man’s, though it seemed like there wasn’t much flesh, she could clearly feel the difference.

Suddenly, his lips were licked, and Gu Ye felt an electric shock hit his brain, then rush down to his tailbone.

Before Baoni could kiss him, Gu Ye grabbed her and laid her on the bed, quickly getting up from it.

“What are you doing?” Baoni was stunned. What was going on?

“Give me a tissue.” Gu Ye said, covering his nose.

“Smack.” Baoni turned on the light, thankful it wasn’t time for the lights to go out. The room lit up.

Gu Ye held his nose with one hand and reached for the tissue with the other.

Blood was dripping from between his fingers—he had a nosebleed.

Baoni quickly grabbed a piece of toilet paper and handed it to him. The red blood stained the pink paper, looking quite vivid.

“Put it under cold water. Why are you getting a nosebleed?” Baoni thought she hadn’t done anything to cause this; his composure clearly wasn’t holding up.

Gu Ye angrily stormed out of the room, and soon, the sound of water pouring could be heard from the courtyard.

Baoni felt like tonight had been exhausting, so she decided to sleep, but she couldn’t, restless and sighing…

As soon as Gu Ye entered the room, he heard Lin Baoni’s sigh.

His rebellious nature was fired up, and he wasn’t going to back down…

He turned off the light and climbed back into bed.

Not long after, Baoni complained: “Be gentle, my clothes, don’t rip them.” She felt this guy was too rough, full of brute strength but no technique.

There was rustling, and soon, they were facing each other.

To be honest, his muscles were pretty nice to touch.

Gu Ye was feeling a surge of heat from the touch of Lin Baoni’s hands, and he couldn’t find a way to release it, sweating anxiously.

“Don’t you know? You’re wrong…”

Baoni was also getting worked up, feeling uncomfortable.

“Shut up.” Gu Ye shut Baoni’s incessantly chattering mouth with his, and it quieted down.

“Ah…”

“Ah…”

The two of them simultaneously let out different sounds.

The man, with no guidance, figured things out on his own, quickly discovering the right method.

Both physically strong, they wrestled for a long time, and after it was over, neither of them wanted to move.

No wonder Xiao Chaoyang always said marriage was good—it really wasn’t bad, Gu Ye muttered to himself.

“Get off, it’s so hot!” Baoni’s voice was a little hoarse, sounding almost like she was whining.

“Does it still hurt?” Gu Ye asked nervously when he heard her let out a low groan.

“It’s fine, just all sweat, uncomfortable.” Baoni felt drenched in sweat and uncomfortable.

“I’ll go wash a towel to wipe you off, wait here.” Gu Ye said, picking up his shorts from the floor, putting them on, and heading out the door.

Lying on the bed, Baoni reflected on everything that had just happened.

She almost wanted to laugh—it actually felt pretty good.

Gu Ye came back with a basin of water. “I will turn on the light, I’ll wipe you down.”

Lin Baoni quickly shouted: “No, just give it to me. I’ll do it myself.”

“Still shy? We’ll be the closest people to each other from now on, you’ll have to get used to it.” Gu Ye handed Baoni the towel and casually spoke as if there was no distance between them.

A man who had just gotten intimate was terrifying; he had been so cold before, Baoni thought to herself.

After both of them had wiped off, Gu Ye took the basin out.

“You’re still putting on clothes? Just sleep like this, wrapped up together. It’s comfortable.” Gu Ye got into bed and pulled Baoni into his arms.

Just like that, feeling sleepy, Baoni didn’t want to stir anymore.

A dreamless night passed, and when Baoni opened her eyes, she saw Gu Ye next to her, his head resting on his hand, watching her.

“You’re awake? I’ve been waiting for you for a while.” Gu Ye said happily when he saw Baoni wake up.

Baoni glanced at the window; sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a faint glow.

“Aren’t you going to get up for your morning exercise?” Baoni knew that soldiers were used to morning workouts, and her old man, Uncle Jiang, never missed a day.

“I already went for a run and brought breakfast back. Just waiting for you to wake up.” Gu Ye said excitedly.

He had woken up early, feeling restless and full of energy, so he went for a few laps outside before buying breakfast.

“Then go ahead and eat. Why are you just staring at me?” Baoni thought Gu Ye seemed like something had gotten into him—he was acting strangely.

“It’s still early, let’s review a bit.”

Before Baoni could protest, Gu Ye didn’t give her a chance and directly took action to prove he could.

Baoni thought to herself that this guy had something else on his mind—so early in the morning…

Anyway, their wedding night, how should she put it? It was a bit funny, but it didn’t stop them from getting things done.
