Chapter 93 1/2
In both this life and the previous one, Sheng Quan’s most frequent experience can be summed up in four words: be cautious.
Ningzhou’s holographic project is not considered highly confidential, and her research institute is not particularly secretive. At least some professors from C University occasionally use the labs here.
Don’t say anything like, “There’s no need to be so cautious.”
If Sheng Quan were still a student who hadn’t officially started working and experienced the incredibly realistic holographic world, her first thought might have been, “How fun would it be if this could be turned into a game?” But Sheng Quan is not just a student. She understands how crucial mature holographic technology is.
Holography is not only applicable to games. Even though she invested a significant amount of money and knew Ningzhou was a genius, Sheng Director did not expect such a pleasant surprise. It should have only been in the early stages of development.
Despite her current wealth being calculated in billions, the expansion is too large, and she can’t really cover it all. Now, she understands why the original text described how the country “carefully protects him.” If such a genius were to cause trouble in her research institute, she would be worried.
Without much thought, Sheng Quan decided to make a call.
The shaken Old General Qin listened to her full explanation and responded, “Are you saying the holographic technology from Star Wars? The kind that is almost indistinguishable from reality, completely creating a second world?”
The old man’s voice trembled.
While still on the phone, Sheng Quan’s gaze remained on Ningzhou: “It’s not as exaggerated as in the movies, but it has reached an initial scale.”
“You should understand how important this technology is.”
Of course, Old General Qin understood. After hanging up the phone, he immediately called his former superior.
If it were reported layer by layer, it would take a lot of time, but if Old General Qin intervened, it would be different. That’s one of the reasons why Sheng Quan directly asked for his help.
She knew the importance of holographic technology, the retired superior knew, and the leaders the retired superior would report to knew as well.
An hour and a half after making the call, two military vehicles stopped at the entrance of the research institute.
Soldiers, carrying real guns and live ammunition, entered with clear assignments, swiftly guarding the various entrances, labs, and especially the room with the finished holographic cabins. The equipment on the soldiers guarding the room was noticeably more advanced.
When they arrived, Sheng Quan had already briefed them extensively. She was now holding a meeting with all the members of the research institute in the conference room.
The main topic of the meeting was that everyone might need to sign a confidentiality agreement.
As mentioned before, this research institute was exclusively for Ningzhou and his team. Sheng Quan separately funded other projects, and this was the only one she had been directly involved in.
When she made this decision initially, it was partly because she thought it would be easier to keep it confidential. However, she didn’t expect it to be put into action so soon.
The students, who were happily eating before, first saw Sheng Director making a cool entrance. Then, they were called for a meeting, and just as they were getting excited about signing a confidentiality agreement, there was a knock on the door.
Assistant He, followed by an incredibly imposing woman, and further back, soldiers fully armed in the corridor.
The students: “…”
Fully… fully armed soldiers?
In the midst of their somewhat excited and slightly nervous emotions about the confidentiality agreement, they finally realized that their research project seemed to have become a big deal.
To be honest, the students in the room were well aware of how impressive their research project was. Ningzhou was a genius, but they were not lacking either. Otherwise, with such a large project, relying solely on Ningzhou would have been exhausting.
But what they had in mind was mainly about receiving financial rewards from Director Sheng after the project was completed. Some who aspired to enter government departments hoped to gain valuable qualifications.
But now, the government has directly appeared in front of them.
This doesn’t align with the experiences passed down by their senior brothers and sisters, right?
When Sheng Quan went out, the initially well-behaved students, with a “we’re earnestly having a meeting” look, immediately began whispering and discussing.
“What’s going on? Weren’t we already in the confidentiality stage? Why did the military come? How did they know?”
“I’m so excited! Damn! It feels like we’re shooting a movie!”
“I really want to brag online. Ahhhh, why did they collect our phones just now?”
“I…
think we’ve caught the attention of the country? Wow! So cool! No wonder Director Sheng suddenly mentioned the confidentiality agreement. I thought we already signed one before; why sign again? “
“This scene is so grand. Can I get into graduate school now?”
One senior sister, who had seen various projects, asserted confidently, “Even if holographic technology is essential, the country wouldn’t come to us right after successfully experimenting at the initial stage. We’re not researching something that threatens society.”
“This should be Director Sheng’s own initiative.”
The nearby students were shocked. “Director Sheng’s initiative? Doesn’t she want to control holographic technology herself?”
Initiating contact with the country is equivalent to giving away a portion of the achievements that were hard-earned with a substantial amount of funds.
They didn’t quite understand. In reality, the team sent by the country was also asking Sheng Quan this question.
Yes, a team.
With such a significant event, even if they found people quickly, the country couldn’t possibly send only two or three people. Among the government personnel who came to the research institute this time, various professionals related to this project were included.
