Chapter 3 1/2
The task was urgent, and Jiang Li hastily packed a backpack, needing clothes for two days and nights, along with supplements, a fine needle, and an inhibitor.
Finally, he reached the bottom of the box, taking out his own pheromone extraction solution.
Knock, knock, knockāthe sound of knocking on the door.
Jiang Li immediately opened the door. “Thanks for coming in such a hurry!”
“No problem, do you need help applying it?” The person was Chen Liufeng, Jiang Li’s classmate in plastic surgery, holding an icebox. “The effective period of the applied bio-skin is only two to three days, so be careful.”
Jiang Li opened the box, applied the bio-skin, and the beauty in the mirror gradually transformed into an ordinary person. Even in bright sunlight, there were no traces of disguise, except for a pair of eyes with a remarkably beautiful curvature.
The last time the restaurant supervisor warned him not to interfere too much with that face, Jiang Li was determined to disguise himself as an ordinary person when taking on part-time jobs.
Back in the orphanage, wasn’t it because of his face? It brought Jiang Li the biggest trouble in his life, and he was still dealing with it.
“Thanks, very convenient.”
Chen Liufeng proudly said, “Of course, this is my graduation project; I plan to get a high score with it.”
“It’s currently the seventh-generation product. By next June’s defence, it will be even more impressive. At that time, you can be first, and I’ll settle for second.”
Defense… Jiang Li’s eyes dimmed for a moment, quickly concealing it. “Wish you success. If you need any experiments, find me.”
Because Jiang Li’s skin was the best in the hospital, the requirements for the first-generation artificial skin were strict. If there were any unevenness or oiliness on the face, it would break and form blisters. Chen Liufeng pleaded with Jiang Li for a long time, finally convincing the cleanliness-conscious Jiang Li to let him try it on his face.
With this trial, Chen Liufeng took the first successful step.
…
Considering the urgency, Jiang Li, out of medical ethics, spent money to take a taxi and quickly headed to the assembly point to treat patients.
A spacecraft landed slowly in front of Jiang Li.
Looking up, Jiang Li saw a young man walking out of it, wearing a camel-coloured casual coat, a mask, and sunglasses, appearing pampered and inexperienced.
“I’ll take you to the underground city later. There are guards outside; don’t talk and don’t communicate with them.”
“My brother’s pheromones are very aggressive. Endure it. If you can’t, crawl out. You must come out for us to take you for treatment, understand?”
If he died inside, it would be hard to explain. He could only squander the wealth given by Cen Wei, hiding his identity. Lin Lu still wanted the social status of the young master of the Lin family.
Lin Lu glanced at this ordinary Beta, thinking that something must have happened in his family. Two million would be enough to relieve all the pressure on a lower-class family, so he felt no guilt.
Jiang Li sat in the spacecraft, glimpsing a flat area through the glass window with no buildings, only an entrance to the underground.
The Medical College of the Third Military Academy mainly served the space forces. As the distance shortened, Jiang Li could tell at a glance that the guards were military personnel.
So the people inside must be retired military officers with certain ranks.
After landing, Lin Lu emphasised again, “Don’t talk to the gatekeepers.”
Jiang Li nodded. The Third Military Academy had many research projects with high secrecy levels; students were not allowed to see or ask. He had long been accustomed to the peculiarities.
“Okay, but you have to pay first.”
Lin Lu glanced at his steward, who nodded.
The steward operated his phone for a moment and said, “It’ll be confirmed in a few minutes.”
Politely, Jiang Li didn’t look at his payment interface. When Lin Lu mentioned paying first, the steward seemed a bit nervous, afraid that Jiang Li wouldn’t enter after taking the money.
Lin Lu gave Jiang Li a set of doctor’s clothes. “After entering, you have to hand in your phone. Uh, the phone slot is at the entrance. Just plug it in to prevent you from using a flashlight, intensifying the storm.”
The clothes were new, so Jiang Li didn’t resist changing into the “carer’s uniform.”
The two walked to the entrance, passed through security, and the guards at the entrance let them through. Lin Lu had reported to the Cen family and was allowed to bring a doctor to the entrance. If there were any accidents, the doctor could return promptly. If Jiang Li could persist after entering, the doctor would leave.
The bodyguard sized up the masked doctor following Lin Lu and was extremely impressed. In their minds, an excellent doctor had this calm and profound demeanor. They didn’t know where he excelled, but if they ever fell ill, they’d want him as their doctor.
Descending a hundred metres of steps, the two arrived at the metal door, the real entrance.
Jiang Li glanced at his phone. Yang Xiaoli said the fifty thousand yuan had been received, so he confidently placed the phone in the designated slot.
Lin Lu reported a series of numbers, handing the body double a vial of pheromones. “Open it once you’re inside. If you can’t resist and come out, call me immediately.”
Saying that, he jogged away. However, in the moment Jiang Li opened the metal door, as if there was an invisible shockwave precisely detonating nerves, Lin Lu’s knees gave way, and he knelt on the steps with a painful “thud.”
Regretfully turning his head, he saw the metal door had closed; the body double had entered.
“Phew!” Lin Lu slowly got up and took off his windbreaker, revealing the same white coat as the body double.
He waited for a while, casually returning to the surface. He told the bodyguard, “The young master went in to take care of Mr. Cen. The situation is good.”
Wearing a mask that hid his face, the bodyguard was about to conduct a routine check when someone suddenly exclaimed, “The concentration of pheromones detected on the back of the metal door has decreased! Notify Mr. Cen quickly!”
The bodyguard became excited, and everyone gathered around to watch. Truly, she was the heaven-sent future, madam! Mr. Cen was saved!
If this doctor liked wearing a mask, let him. Could it be that he was Mr. Lin in disguise? Only Mr. Lin entering could have this effect; only the future madam dared to go inside!
In fact, Mr. Cen was inside; they didn’t need to guard the door at all. If a spy went in, there was only a dead end.
Lin Lu’s mouth curled up; his pheromones were impressive. He could already see the overwhelming power beckoning to him. His mother said he planned to claim half of the interstellar transit control from the Cen family, sitting on equal footing in the future. People from the military would treat him with respect.
Jiang Li subconsciously held his breath. Alpha’s pheromones were chaotic during the sensitive period, scattered like fireworks, especially in enclosed spaces, filled with the scent of pheromones everywhere.
He disliked being enveloped by Alpha’s pheromones, like being in a foul-smelling drain.
He hoped this Alpha’s pheromones wouldn’t be too strong. Jiang Li closed his eyes until breathing became difficult, then slowly took in a breath.
Huh? Jiang Li opened his eyes, breathed normally a few times, and there was no scent.
So, he wasn’t an exception? Someone else was like him, with no scent in their pheromones.
Jiang Li’s favourable impression of this retired military officer increased slightly. He quickened his pace, loosening the pheromone tube his employer gave him, and sniffed.
