Chapter 10 2/2
He had fifty thousand yuan in his hand, and he had to spend it wisely.
After drinking his second nutrient solution of the day, Jiang Li was greeted by someone:
“You don’t need to change your clothes. Hurry downstairs to assemble; their captain is here.”
“Cen Team is so handsome! Are all members of the Space Force like this? I want to join the space medical team after graduation!”
The voices were still loud in the dormitory corridor, but when they reached the playground, everyone closed their mouths, strictly adhering to military discipline and not daring to look up.
The deterrence of a top Alpha was no joke; his gaze seemed to be arrows cutting through the air.
Two medical students paired with a soldier, forming a three-person team, and set out with a medical kit.
Jiang Li was the last one to arrive. All twelve soldiers were already assigned, leaving only one person playing with his phone, “Captain Cen,” who relied on the fact that no one dared to look at or manage him seriously.
Jiang Li: “I can go alone.”
Cen Lang stood up and said, “Let’s go.”
Jiang Li hesitated for a moment.
“The N9 area is the border, and each medical student must be accompanied by a soldier for protection; it’s a regulation.”
The Amis Federation liked to engage in espionage activities, and Cen Lang was annoyed by it.
If the medical students from the Third Military Academy were threatened or turned, there was a chance they might leak secrets.
The research at the Third Military Academy was directly connected to the Space Force, and the more outstanding the medical students, the more they could access the core medical research of the military.
Cen Lang had seen the list, and the most outstanding one was Jiang Ping, a beta, the future pillar of medicine, a wealth for the federation.
Why wouldn’t he keep an eye on him?
Jiang Li was assigned the farthest household on the list, on the edge of the area. This was his first trip with a bodyguard, although the bodyguard could disappear at any time and then reappear silently.
It was said that half of the top Alphas in the entire federation were in the Space Force. Jiang Li experienced it firsthand—he couldn’t smell the Cen Team’s pheromones. Only the top Alphas could completely control the release of pheromones. Once released, their oppressive power over others was extremely strong.
Jiang Li didn’t care about the Alpha behind him. He speculated that the other party might have other reconnaissance tasks while effortlessly ensuring his own protection within the designated range. The two cooperated tacitly.
Three hours passed, and Jiang Li had fewer and fewer households left. He found that many elderly people couldn’t use the medications correctly. Currently, there are various drugs boasting about their effects in the field of pheromones. The human gland was both powerful and fragile, and the interference of various drugs had strong side effects.
In the last household, Jiang Li patiently explained how to take the medicine, his mouth dry.
The light was dim, and he lifted the box and stepped over the threshold.
Although he couldn’t see Cen Team, he could sense that the other person was nearby.
Cen Lang walked out of a dark alley, tall with long legs, crossing the road in two steps.
“Finished?”
“Report, Captain Cen, all tasks completed.”
This was the first conversation between the two tonight.
Jiang Li wanted to ask if Cen Lang had completed his reconnaissance mission, but he didn’t dare to speak rashly.
Jiang Li: “Do you want to go around some more?”
Go around?
He felt like he was neglecting his duty and reporting it in such a serious tone.
Cen Lang suddenly said, without relevance, “You don’t have the smell of food on you.”
Jiang Li: “Likewise.”
“Yes.” Cen Lang smiled. “The army doesn’t allow us to spend money during missions; we can only drink nutrient supplements. But it allows us to have a free feast in a way that doesn’t cost money.”
Cen Lang said seriously, “According to the information, in the N9 area every winter night, delicious mushrooms will grow on the eaves, and they will melt when the sun comes out.”
Jiang Li couldn’t believe it. “So were you looking for mushrooms just now?”
Cen Lang: “Do you want to join me?”
Jiang Li frowned, seriously explaining, “Don’t eat mushrooms randomly at night. It may confuse similar varieties, and eating poisonous mushrooms can cause hallucinations, making it impossible to control the release of pheromones.”
Cen Lang: “Not eating mushrooms is fine.”
Jiang Li breathed a sigh of relief.
Cen Lang said, “During the day, I walked around the mountain. Under the rotten tree stumps and stones, there might be wild beehives. Honey or roasted bee larvae, do you want some?”
Jiang Li: “…” So, the captain disappeared for a day just to find a wild beehive?
He wanted to refuse, but he suddenly saw a public restroom on his left.
He touched the pregnancy test stick in his pocket. There was a possibility of being discovered if he threw away the used test stick in the dormitory trash, but no one would notice it in a public restroom.
Jiang Li: “I have no outdoor experience. I’ll wait for you here.”
Cen Lang: “Sure.”
Jiang Li watched the Cen Team walk up the mountain. The so-called mountain was just a small mound, at most three stories high. If he shouted, Cen Lang could appear within five seconds.
Turning into the bathroom, he took out the pregnancy test stick from his backpack and followed the instructions.
He held his breath, watching the numbers on the pregnancy test stick change.
Ten minutes later, there was still a faint red line. Jiang Li opened his flashlight and shone it again; it was still a line.
Not pregnant.
“…” Jiang Li was a bit skeptical about life but also somewhat expected.
He wrapped the pregnancy test stick in a bag and threw it into the trash can, then stood on the street silently blowing the wind. Other squads in the neighborhood gradually completed their tasks, and after several hours of being together, medical students and soldiers returned with laughter and conversation.
The sperm quality of that Alpha wasn’t good… Jiang Li admitted that he was a bit unjustifiably angry.
The sound of stones being broken and moved on the mountain came through the wind.
Besides having brute strength, top Alphas were just like this.
