The Duke’s Daughter is Involved in Magical Technology Chapter 74.2

Even slightly average specimens were being sold at considerably high prices, not to mention those at auctions. This summer, Jorgus had participated in nearly ten auctions, and there were dozens of advanced magical creature offspring and eggs on display. It wasn’t that he couldn’t bid, but rather, he couldn’t make a successful purchase.

Jorgus shook his head, “It’s not that I can’t afford it, it’s just that the price is too high, and it’s not worth it.”

Indeed, having grown up in the commercial hub of Santala City, he was inevitably influenced by the values of those around him. He had his own way of assessing the value of goods, not adhering to the nobility’s perception of what was truly precious.

Even if he had the financial means, when the magical creatures at auctions were priced beyond what he deemed reasonable, he promptly chose to abstain.

He also added, “It’s not because of their origin, it’s just that they’re not the type I favor.'”

“If it were truly something you liked, perhaps it wouldn’t be a matter of price.”

Aresia asked him, “What kind of magical creatures do you like?”

This was a topic they had actually discussed before. During their trial, it was more about others expressing their preferences, but Aresia vaguely recalled that Jorgus had once mentioned a suitable mount.

Jorgus pursed his lips, revealing a hint of youthful innocence, “I actually like horses, so a higher-level horse-shaped magical beast”

Jorgus’s choice of becoming a knight wasn’t due to his innate abilities. In fact, his childhood instructor had suggested that he was better suited to be a swordsman rather than a knight.

However, because Jorgus had a profound affection for horses, he chose to become a knight.

Typically, the horse-shaped magical creatures captured by humans were at the fifth level or lower, yet Jorgus firmly believed that he wouldn’t stop at the fifth level. Unlike others who would first contract a lower-level horse-shaped magical creature and then replace it with a higher-level one, Jorgus’s initial goal was to obtain a higher-level horse-shaped magical creature.

Aresia frowned, “That’s a bit difficult. As far as I know, there are only three known horse-shaped magical creatures at level five or higher, and the two I’m familiar with aren’t exactly suitable companions.”

Jorgus nodded, fully aware of this fact.

Aresia’s three familiar horse shape beast included the level six Spectral Dark Horse, the level seven Nightmare, and a creature that was once passed level eight, the Stormwind Horse.

The Spectral Dark Horse and Nightmare were known magical creatures within the Holy Lotean Empire. These creatures, associated with the dark arts, were not well-regarded, especially the Spectral Dark Horse, believed to be an undead horse created through the corruption of a deceased warhorse by dark magic. The Nightmare was considered to be a demon’s mount. Such dark magical creatures were generally unpopular, and for a knight, choosing them would be seen as associating with darkness, potentially linked to fallen or death knights. So this two are not a suitable companion.

The Stormwind Horse was even rarer. Its name suggested that it was a magical creature that thrived within storms, rarely staying in one place and often seen chasing storms, appearing only when there was a storm. Due to their active nature, they were almost never captured. Their presence often brought about great disasters, and when encountered by humans, seeing the Stormwind Horse was rarely a good omen. In fact, the Stormwind Horse was often referred to as the Horse of Misfortune.

Therefore, these three horse-shaped magical creatures weren’t particularly popular.

Of course, Jorgus is fully aware of the tree horse-shaped beast.

“I actually want a Stormwind Horse magical beast.”

Aresia felt very strange and ask Jorgus, “Why do you want a stormwind horse? They are not very popular, just because their level and upper limit are very high.” “?”

……

In the past.

At that time, Jorgus was still young, and lived alone in the manor. Even if there were many servants around him, he would always feel lonely. And his mother would only come to see him on certain days every month, and sometimes if something happened, the meeting would be cancelled.so he was always looking forward for his mother’s arrival.

“It was probably when I was seven years old, it was time for me to take the professional test, so my mother said that she would take me back to Santala City to live for a while.”

The young Jorgus was really excited and he counted the days in hopeful that he can reunite with his mother and live with her. On the day when Lily was supposed to go to the manor, Santala City encountered an unprecedented severe storm, and Lily had to postpone the plan to get Jorgus. But little Jorgus didn’t know that she couldn’t come on time because of the storm. The servants didn’t tell the reason why Lily couldn’t come.

The young Jorgus all knew was that her mother didn’t showed up, which had never happened before, because if her mother couln’t come she will definitely send someone or a letter to notify him in advance, but this time there is nothing. So he became worried about whether something bad happened to her mom on the road. As soon as the idea came to him, the young child immediately decided to go out and find his mother on his own.

He didn’t even tell the people around him, because he knew that if he said this idea, they would probably stop him. So little Jorgus chose to run out secretly.

He brought his wooden toy sword, snacks, water and sneaks out and go in the direction where his mother came and left.

Because the manor is busy preparing for the huge storm, they neglected Jorgus whose obedient all the time so they didn’t think about the possibility of Jorgus sneaking out to find his mom.

Of course the young Jorgus didn’t know the way to Santala City, he just followed the direction where he sees his mother came and left when she visits him.

The manor is not actually that far from the Santala City, so when the storm hit the city, it also affected the nearby area. So before he had gone too far, little Jorgus was caught in a storm. The rain is very heavy, the storm was terrifying. It swept across the land, and the strong wind could even break big tress.

When little Jorgus realized that he had made a very wrong decision, he was already blown by the wind so much that he was about to float. Then he saw the tornado connecting heaven and earth. He was very scared, and the fact that he realized the tornado was moving in his direction made him more scared.

He tried to run away but he was swept up by the wind. And at the moment he was blown out, something suddenly grabbed his collar from behind.

That thing took him out of the path of the tornado and put him in a safe place. After he was put down, the thing left, but Jorgus saw what it looked like. Jorgus was left with a sense of gratitude.

Upon hearing this, Aresia immediately realized, “It was a Stormwind Horse?”

Jorgus nodded approvingly, “Yes, it was a Stormwind Horse, but unlike other Stormwind Horses, it wasn’t of a murky gray color; it was a very clean shade of gray, with a mane that was black and long and dense.”

Regrettably, he hadn’t seen the face of the Stormwind Horse up close or captured its entire appearance, but he remembered this much.

When he was found by the servants, at that time, he didn’t know the nature of the magical creature that had saved him. It was only when Lily arrived, after the storm had subsided, that he learned it was a horse that had rescued him. At that moment, Jorgus, who already had a fondness for horses, developed an even greater affection for this creature and aspired to become a knight.

As he grew and learned more about magical creatures, he realized that the creature that had saved him wasn’t an ordinary horse; it was likely a Stormwind Horse.

At that point, he was already aware that magical creatures were considered fearsome enemies by humans. To spare his mother from worry, Jorgus didn’t mention this and quietly kept it to himself.

With the knowledge of beast contracts, the only thing he could wish for was that, if he were to have a beast companion, it would be a Stormwind Horse.

“Well, I know the chances of encountering a Stormwind Horse again are unlikely, but I can’t help but hope to see it once more.”
