Chapter 15: Tempting Zhao Jiaying

After Ou Zichen and Lin Zhenzhu had gone upstairs to discuss things in the study, Ou Zilong came over to Zhao Jiaying. He felt it was the perfect opportunity to clear things up with her, otherwise, she might not want to talk to him, her Second Uncle, in the future.

“Yingbao, Second Uncle thinks we need to have a good talk!” 

To actually have a serious conversation with a little kid—Ou Zilong thought he was going crazy, but he had no choice; his little niece had captured his heart.

Zhao Jiaying didn’t look at him, absorbed in the cartoon playing on the TV. She casually responded: “Second Uncle, you can talk. Yingbao is listening.”

Seeing that, Ou Zilong got straight to the point.

“Yingbao, this morning your Daddy said: ‘Second Uncle is often kissed by different women.’ That’s not true. Don’t misunderstand Second Uncle because of that sentence. Look at Second Uncle’s face, it’s fair and clean, not dirty at all!”

In the next moment, Zhao Jiaying directly grabbed a tissue from the table, climbed onto Ou Zilong’s lap, and wiped his face with it. After wiping, she looked at the tissue, which was still clean, with no dirt at all. Now she believed Ou Zilong’s words.

“Alright, I believe Second Uncle’s face is clean now!”

Ou Zilong immediately sighed in relief, feeling a bit smug. It seemed this little kid was easy to fool after all.

“Then, from now on, can I kiss Second Uncle?”

However, Zhao Jiaying responded without hesitation, decisively saying three words: “No, you can’t!”

“Why not?”

Ou Zilong, puzzled, asked. Didn’t she just confirm his face wasn’t dirty? Why couldn’t she kiss him?

“Because Daddy said that I can’t kiss Second Uncle in the future. Yingbao is a good child, so I must listen to Daddy!”

Well, this answer was very reasonable, leaving no room for rebuttal. Good children should listen to their parents, or they wouldn’t be good children.

Ou Zilong wasn’t ready to give up. He couldn’t believe he couldn’t even deal with a little girl today. So, from the bag on the coffee table beside the sofa, he pulled out a small box and placed it in front of Zhao Jiaying.

“Yingbao, this box has a strawberry cake inside. Do you want to eat it?”

Zhao Jiaying nodded!

“If you want it, will you kiss Second Uncle in the future?”

Zhao Jiaying immediately shook her head. She was a good child, and how could she not listen to Daddy just for a piece of cake?

Seeing that the temptation failed, Ou Zilong took out a second box. Inside was a chocolate cake. This time, he specially opened the box and held it up to his nose, inhaling deeply and saying: “It smells really good!”

He then placed it in front of Zhao Jiaying, and the rich chocolate scent filled her nose, causing her to unconsciously swallow.

“It’s a chocolate cake. Do you want to eat it?”

Zhao Jiaying nodded, but quickly shook her head again. She was Daddy’s good baby, and she couldn’t throw away what Daddy said just for two pieces of cake.

Ou Zilong’s second attempt at temptation also failed. But he still wasn’t ready to give up. He decided to try again and pulled out a third box. This one contained a mango cake, Zhao Jiaying’s favorite flavor.

He opened the box, revealing a layer of mango chunks on top of the cake, with a golden-yellow color and a strong mango fragrance wafting from it. Zhao Jiaying couldn’t help but watch the fresh, juicy mango pieces, and saliva dripped from the corner of her mouth.

Ou Zilong thought that this temptation would definitely succeed. So, instead of asking if Zhao Jiaying wanted to eat it, he directly said: “Looks like Yingbao doesn’t want to eat it after all. Well, if no one wants it, I guess I’ll just throw it all away.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Ou Zilong slowly walked toward the trash can, holding all three cakes.

Zhao Jiaying hesitated, struggling with the dilemma. Should she listen to Daddy’s words or eat the cake? If she didn’t eat, Second Uncle would throw it all away. How wasteful that would be!

Soon, she caught onto one word: “no waste.” This was because Mommy had given her a guiding principle: “Cherish food and avoid wasting it!”

Compared to Daddy’s words, Mommy’s were more important, so she should listen to Mommy. Therefore, she shouted to Ou Zilong’s back: “Second Uncle, wait!”

When Ou Zilong heard Zhao Jiaying calling him, he felt immensely pleased. He knew his temptation plan had worked. Slowly, he turned around, pretending to be indifferent.

“Yingbao, what’s wrong?” he asked.

Zhao Jiaying quickly walked up to Ou Zilong, her voice soft and sweet as she said: “Mommy said we can’t waste food, so I want to eat cake…”

Ou Zilong crouched down, bringing his face closer, shamelessly saying: “If you want cake, you have to kiss Second Uncle first!”

Zhao Jiaying didn’t hesitate, for she had already made up her mind. She held Ou Zilong’s head and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.

When Lin Zhenzhu and Ou Zichen came down the stairs, they saw Zhao Jiaying kissing Ou Zilong.

After she kissed him, Zhao Jiaying took the three pieces of cake from Ou Zilong’s hands and happily returned to the coffee table to eat.

Ou Zilong, seeing Ou Zichen, gave him a teasing look, feeling incredibly smug!

Ou Zichen rubbed his forehead. That morning, he had praised Yingbao for being a child who could be taught, but he hadn’t expected this little food lover to be so easily swayed by just a few pieces of cake. He had completely lost to her!

Seeing Lin Zhenzhu and Ou Zichen had come down, Zhao Jiaying enthusiastically waved at them and said: “Great-grandma, Daddy, come eat cake! Second Uncle bought it, it’s so delicious!”

Lin Zhenzhu smiled and said: “Great-grandma is old and can’t eat too many sweets. You should eat it yourself, Yingbao.”

“Then what about Daddy?” Zhao Jiaying looked at Ou Zichen.

“Daddy doesn’t like sweets either, so you can eat it all by yourself!”

Since no one else was eating, Yingbao happily ate it all herself! But she didn’t forget her little companion, so she gave Tangyuan a piece of strawberry cake because Tangyuan liked strawberries.

After finishing two pieces of cake, Zhao Jiaying’s little belly became bloated, and she felt uncomfortable. She had already been full after one and a half pieces, but thinking that she shouldn’t waste food, she forced the remaining half piece into her mouth.

Now she felt bad, didn’t she?

Seeing Zhao Jiaying’s uncomfortable little expression, Lin Zhenzhu felt a bit sorry for her and scolded Ou Zilong: “Zilong, don’t buy Yingbao any more cake next time. Look, you’ve made her eat so much she’s stuffed. What if it causes her some trouble?”

When Zhao Jiaying heard that Lin Zhenzhu said Ou Zilong shouldn’t buy her any more cake, she became anxious. Compared to the discomfort of not having cake, this little discomfort wasn’t that bad.

She hurriedly said: “Great-grandma, I’m fine, I’m not uncomfortable anymore!”

Ou Zichen, noticing Zhao Jiaying’s concern, picked her up and sat her on his lap. He gently rubbed her belly with his palm and said: “Yingbao, it’s not that we don’t want you to eat. It’s just that you can’t eat too much at once. If you eat too much, your stomach gets too full, and it could cause trouble. Do you understand?”

Zhao Jiaying nodded, though she wasn’t entirely sure.

Ou Zilong immediately apologized, saying: “Grandma, I know I was wrong. Next time, I won’t buy so much cake for Yingbao!”

Hearing that Ou Zilong would still buy her cake next time, Zhao Jiaying smiled happily. As long as there was cake to eat in the future, that was all that mattered!
