Chapter 34 1/2
“Jiang Li actually doesn’t like the noisy kids next door, but he can’t speak ill of a stranger’s child. He has always liked quietness and has been well-behaved since childhood. His child should be the same, right?
Jiang Li is a bit uncertain. Would his child be like Cen Lang when he was a child?
Cen Lang should have had a sense of justice from a young age, a polite little Alpha full of sunshine. There’s nothing to worry about.
While Jiang Li is thinking, his phone vibrates, receiving an anonymous message: ‘[An Alpha tormented by storm syndrome for twenty years, a bit twisted.]’
Jiang Li:?
Although not signed, the tone is very much like that of a criminal psychologist; people Jiang knows are generally serious.
“Are you Professor Yu?”
Yu Zhaoye:
I just wanted to anonymously report the disturbance caused by someone at midnight and do a good deed. Why can I be recognized for this?
Jiang Li probably won’t complain to Cen Lang, right? Yu Zhaoye thinks that if Jiang has to face him, he will feel guilty. So, what is there to be afraid of?
‘[Analyzing the psychological state of a person from a professional perspective.]’
Jiang Li seriously challenges the psychology professor: “He is very normal.” And his emotions are stable.
People with unstable emotions are prone to revealing an irritable side when dealing with lower-class individuals or troublesome kids. Cen Lang never does that; he is strict only with the bad guys. He treats his subordinates well, smiling even when facing rumors.
Yu Zhaoye thinks to himself, No wonder Cen Lang is so good to Dr. Xiao Jiang, and he enjoys showing these chat screenshots to Cen Lang, who finds them amusing.
Cen Lang’s silence lasts for a minute. Starting off poorly, he takes a bite of salad to calm down. Wait a minute, Jiang Li says he likes kids. Could it be that he likes cute human cubs in that cloud-raising way?
Can’t people who don’t marry or have children like cute kids? Maybe he’s being narrow-minded.
Cen Lang asks in a different way, “Do you want to have your own child?” The cunning Alpha wants to add some words like “changing diapers,” but considering they’re having dinner, he restrains himself.
Jiang Li is stunned. Why does the conversation keep circling back to this? Did Cen Lang discover something?
He can’t show that he really wants a child right now, reiterating, “I haven’t thought about marriage, but in a few decades, if it happens, then maybe.”
‘Haven’t thought about marriage,’ ‘in a few decades,”maybe’… continuous blows. Cen Lang deeply regrets bringing up the topic of children. Confessing properly would have been better than talking about children!
The success rate decreased again.
He has considered pursuing first and then confessing, but without clarifying the Platonic premise, everything is just empty talk.
After being struck by the child topic, Cen Lang begins to doubt whether Plato is a positive or negative factor.
If it’s a negative factor, it means Jiang Li is willing to have close contact with people, rather than holding hands or possibly even kissing.
Buzz… A silent electric shock, like a whip dipped in saltwater, silently lashes across the spine, the skin splitting open invisibly. Under the shirt, the muscles of the right arm suddenly tighten, enduring it forcefully, not even moving a finger.
Cen Lang urgently brakes, commanding himself to regain composure. It’s okay if he feels pain; if he can’t control it and the pheromone storm affects Jiang Li, it will become unbearable for Jiang Li.
He is now at the front end of the sensitive period and took a potent suppressant before coming. It works to some extent, provided he doesn’t think about it.
Thinking about it will be disastrous.
Seeing Jiang Li putting down his knife and fork, Cen Lang asks, “Are you full?”
Jiang Li: “Finished.”
Cen Lang picks up the suit jacket from the back of the chair and drapes it over his right arm to avoid revealing any clues to Jiang Li. “Let’s walk along Binjiang Avenue.”
Jiang Li: “Sure.”
The weather is still cool, with the evening temperature around twenty degrees. It’s the first good weather of the spring, and there are many couples by the river. Jiang Li is wearing a fleece hoodie and light gray sweatpants.
Some people may look bulky in thick hoodies, but not Jiang Li. Even with a scarf, you can imagine his exquisite clavicle line and slender swan neck.
She is tall and slender, with a height of 1.8 meters, a slight difference from Cen Lang’s 1.9 meters, but the proportions are there. Walking beside Cen Lang, Jiang Li’s momentum is not overshadowed.
Unable to resist, Jiang Li tucks the scarf under his chin, wanting to smell Cen Lang’s pheromones a bit more. Being three months pregnant is the second peak of pheromone dependence. Without Cen Lang by his side, he would probably need medication.
He hopes that today is the last day of the peak period.
“Starting tomorrow, I’ll be in the lab. The old devil lent me the rest area to live in. I won’t come out for the project. Thank you for your help and care during this time.”
Jiang Li temporarily avoids words of gratitude, as they might be seen as empty compliments, and Cen Lang might retort with, “Do you want to discuss business?”
Cen Lang casually responds with a “Hmm,” sensing Jiang Li unconsciously getting closer.
He walks a bit faster, and Jiang Li speeds up too. If Cen Lang slows down, Jiang Li slows down as well, always maintaining a fist’s distance. A slightly larger arm swing could touch, even hooking Jiang Li’s fingers.
Sizzle…
Cen Lang’s face turns iron blue. Why is he electrified for no reason? Maybe this thing doesn’t follow the rules, or the threshold for emitting electric currents is set too low! He believes he’s controlling it well.
Swinging arms messily is inelegant, but Cen Lang maintains a dignified posture. He stops and looks seriously at Jiang Li, no longer concealing the love and possessiveness in his eyes.
“Jiang Fu.”
“Are you willing to try a platonic relationship with me?”
“I really like you.”
Sizzle… Electrified.
Cen Lang closes his eyes, struggling to control his body’s rebellion caused by emotions.
