Chapter 40 2/2
“Once, my pheromones won’t harm anyone.”
Jiang Li blinked, wondering if he was testing the authenticity. He coldly reminded me, “Excessive treatment can lead to impotence.”
Cen Lang changed his tone and said, “No need; my self-control is stronger than that of a Navy SEAL who hasn’t seen his wife in twenty years.” Jiang couldn’t help but ask, “How is he now?”
Cen Lang sneered, “Underwent plastic surgery, now works as a security guard in a sanatorium, the backdoor security.”
Jiang Li: “Pretending to be a plumber doesn’t seem much better than him. Was it discussed together?
He thought for a moment: “I plan to take a nap, so I won’t keep you.”
Cen Lang: “You” must linger for a while, wait for his assistant to bring over pots, pans, ingredients, and his luggage, and then there’s an excuse to stay.
Now he said he wanted to sleep on the floor, and Jiang Li couldn’t find a polite reason to refuse. Besides, the atmosphere in this neighborhood is good, but without walls and security, anyone can enter, and he can’t rest assured.
Cen Lang: “After eating, shouldn’t we take a walk to aid digestion? I’ll accompany you.”
Just thinking about it, a knock on the door came: “Dr. Jiang, I’m the painter next door.” Jiang Li went to open the door, saying, “Hello.”
The painter’s apron was still stained with colorful pigments, carrying a painting that was still fresh: “Thank you for helping me with tenosynovitis; this is my housewarming gift to you.”
The painting depicted a pomegranate tree, each pomegranate plum round and cute, and the inscription read, “Many children, much happiness.”
Jiang Li: “…”
The painter said, “This is my most popular one.” Jiang Li accepted it, saying, “Thank you.”
The painter said, “No need to thank me; I’ll go back to continue painting.” Jiang Li turned the painting over and leaned it against the wall to dry.
Cen Lang: “What’s the painting?”
Jiang Li casually said, “A talisman for warding off evil spirits.”
Cen Lang is dedicated to combating all kinds of potential rivals, especially those close to him, including Beta and Omega: “Pregnancy is not suitable for waking up to a terrifying image every day.”
Jiang Li: “Okay, I won’t look.”
Cen Lang was satisfied: “Let’s go downstairs.”
Today is cloudy, not too sunny, and suitable for a walk in a windy place. He wants the whole neighborhood to know that Jiang Li has a super fierce Alpha.
The pregnant husband needs moderate exercise and safety, and Cen Lang will accompany him every time. Jiang Li politely refused: “I can’t keep up with your training.”
Cen Lang: “…”
He suddenly remembered that he had to get Jiang Li to do sit-ups. Jiang Li didn’t want him involved in raising the cub, and that was his right.
He was very fortunate that when he encountered the meteor shower, he decisively let Jiang Li enter the dormant cabin and did not use a large-scale lift-and-flip method to avoid the meteorites.
If Jiang Li fainted, it would be over.
Cen Lang: “You walk in front, and I’ll follow you. If you don’t want to walk, I’ll carry you back anytime.”
Jiang Li originally wanted to take a walk; he couldn’t just lie down and sleep. He could only follow Cen Lang out. With a top-notch Alpha appearing, it could indeed save him a lot of unnecessary harassment.
Jiang Li put on a mask and walked in front, and soon, a thin layer of sweat appeared on his face due to the mask. Passing by a giant banyan tree, Cen Lang said, “Stop for a moment.”
Jiang Li stopped inexplicably.
Cen Lang approached, carefully took off the mask from his ears, and said, “Breathe for a while.”
Jiang Li obediently took two breaths of pheromones.
If he told Cen Lang that he was an Omega, Cen Lang might guess that he was treated by marking. The thing about inhaling pheromones was that it had to be done discreetly.
The last peak of pheromone dependence, after this period, would be fine.
Cen Lang saw him being choked by the mask and said with distress, “Are you used to wearing a mask outside? Is it because you look good and often get harassed by hooligans?”
Jiang Li: “Yes.”
Cen Lang: “Encountering trouble due to your appearance?”
Jiang Li glanced at him. Yes, the face and pheromones were the focus of many of Alpha’s mate selections, and one of the disadvantages was attracting Alpha. He said, “Yes, but there are also many benefits. I can earn a thousand a day just by serving dishes. I actually saved a lot of money, but I don’t want to spend it. Let me make it clear: I only agree that the child will recognize you as a father in the future. Our relationship is clean; don’t buy me things; the nutrition supplements provided by the medical station are comprehensive.”
Cen Lang’s mind flashed for a moment, holding plates, a waiter, a restaurant… Before he could think further, the phone in his pocket vibrated. Cen Lang’s assistant, who was sent to investigate the orphanage, sent a report.
The assistant had just begun the investigation, so he first reported the surface information collected to Cen Lang: “According to the children from the same period in the orphanage, they all said they didn’t bully Jiang Li.”
“This is strange. When they heard about my intentions, their first reaction was to emphasize that they didn’t bully Jiang Li. The former director had already retired, and he also said that those children got along harmoniously.”
Either they bullied and denied it out of guilt, or they didn’t bully but distanced themselves, indicating that someone else bullied Jiang Li.
Cen Lang’s eyes sank, and he replied, “Check the director.” He looked at the grown-up Jiang Li and suddenly wanted to hug him.
He thought about it and did it.
“I bought you a golden toilet; let me hug you and return it.”
