Military Marriage as Sweet as Honey: Pampered to the Heavens by a Soldier in the Seventies Chapter 52

Chapter 52: Taobao Shop Welcomes a Returning Customer

Su Ruanruan lay on the heated brick bed, reading the content written by Fu Wenjing over and over again. Only after going through it several times did she finally turn over, sit up, and take out a tin box from the bedside cabinet, carefully placing the paper inside.

These were precious memories shared between the two of them. She wanted to store them properly so that when they grew old, they could sit together in wicker chairs under the grape arbor, flipping through these pages, laughing as they reminisced. Just the thought of it was beautiful.

With a smile, Su Ruanruan closed the bedside cabinet, then changed her clothes, put on her shoes, and stepped off the bed to head outside.

It had been ten days since she arrived, yet this was the first time Su Ruanruan truly had a moment alone.

Fu Wenjing would not return until lunchtime, and with no one else at home, she could do whatever she pleased.

She walked into the kitchen and lifted the lid of the large pot, revealing a warm breakfast inside—one large steamed bun, a bowl of porridge, and two boiled eggs.

She had to admit, Fu Wenjing had prepared a rather generous breakfast for her.

Su Ruanruan put the lid back on the pot and went to fetch water to wash up.

After brushing her teeth and washing her face, she casually washed her pajamas and hung them on the newly made drying rack in the courtyard.

The drying rack was made from the bamboo they had brought back yesterday.

Looking at the rack, Su Ruanruan couldn’t help but wonder—what time did Fu Wenjing wake up in the morning?

He had been busy the entire day yesterday and even worked overtime at night. He should have been more exhausted than she was.

Yet, how was he able to wake up so early?

Not only had he finished making the drying rack, but he had also prepared breakfast and even filled the water tank.

Was it because soldiers were naturally full of energy?

Unable to figure it out, Su Ruanruan simply stopped thinking about it. She turned around and went back inside to start eating breakfast.

Outside, the sun was already shining brightly, yet it was only nine in the morning.

Ruanruan finished breakfast, washed the dishes, tidied up the kitchen, and saw that it was still not yet 9:30.

Taking advantage of the fact that the sun had not yet risen to its peak and the temperature was still mild, she decided to go over the vegetable garden in the courtyard once more before scattering the seeds.

It sounded like a simple task, but by the time she finished sowing the seeds and watering the garden, it was already past 11 o’clock.

Even though she had eaten quite a lot in the morning, and it had only been a little over two hours, her stomach was already empty.

No wonder people in this era rarely gained weight—there was simply too much physical activity.

Since it was broad daylight, Su Ruanruan did not take a full bath but simply wiped herself down, changed into clean clothes, and then washed the ones she had just taken off, hanging them out to dry.

The pajamas she had hung out in the morning were already dry and needed to be brought inside immediately.

These fabrics were all cotton. If left in the sun too long, they would fade, and frequent washing would cause them to wear out even faster.

Because of this, most people preferred Dacron fabric over cotton.

However, Su Ruanruan personally liked cotton more.

Although cotton was too soft and lacked structure when made into clothing, was prone to wear and fading, and easily lost its color, it was incredibly comfortable to wear. It was soft against the skin, highly absorbent, and very breathable.

As she was thinking about the various benefits of cotton, she suddenly heard a “ding.”

It was a sound she had not heard in several days—the notification tone for a new message from the Taobao system.

Su Ruanruan found it a bit strange.

She had not been able to go up the mountain for the past few days, and her shop had long been completely out of stock.

With no products available, why would there be a new message?

Puzzled, she opened the Taobao panel and clicked on the latest message notification.

“Boss, do you still have wild vegetables and wild kiwi fruits in stock? When will new items be available?”

Seeing this message, Su Ruanruan was pleasantly surprised.

She had not sold many orders of wild vegetables and kiwi fruits in total and had assumed there would be no returning customers.

Unexpectedly, not only was there a returning customer, but they also seemed rather eager.

Su Ruanruan wanted to restock her shop immediately, but with empty hands, what could she possibly put on sale?

Missing out on potential earnings made her sigh deeply. She quickly composed a reply.

“Currently restocking, it will take a few days.”

The other party must have been waiting because they replied almost instantly.

“Boss, please hurry! Let me know once it’s available! Thank you so much!”

“Thank you for your support! The shop will restock as quickly as possible.”

After sending the message, Su Ruanruan started thinking about going into the mountains.

However, she was unfamiliar with the terrain and dared not venture alone.

Maybe she could ask Niu Guifang when she planned to go?

Acting on the thought immediately, Su Ruanruan got up and walked over to Niu Guifang’s house, knocking on the courtyard door.

She had barely knocked a few times when the door swung open from the inside.

Yet, she saw no one.

Su Ruanruan froze for a moment.

Who had opened the door?

“Hello, Auntie.”

A soft, childlike voice suddenly spoke. Su Ruanruan instinctively lowered her head and saw a little girl with a bowl-cut hairstyle—Xiao Zhenghong.

Her skin was fair and tender, with a rosy tint on her chubby cheeks.

Not only were her cheeks round and plump, but her big, dark eyes were as shiny as grapes, and her long eyelashes fluttered like two tiny fans.

She looked absolutely adorable.

Looking at Xiao Zhenghong, Su Ruanruan felt an itch in her fingers, tempted to pinch the little girl’s cheeks.

But to avoid being seen as a strange aunt, she resisted the urge.

Reaching into her pants pocket, she pulled out a few fruit candies and handed them to Xiao Zhenghong.

“Here, have some. Where’s your mother?”

Xiao Zhenghong blinked her big eyes, her gaze filled with longing, yet she did not reach out to take the candy. “My mother is inside cooking.”

“Can you take me to her?”

“Of course! Auntie, follow me!”

With that, Xiao Zhenghong turned and ran off.

She wore a light yellow short-sleeved top and khaki shorts, her fair little arms and legs exposed. As she ran, her limbs wobbled slightly, making her look incredibly cute.

Su Ruanruan followed her to the entrance of the main room. Before even stepping inside, she spotted Niu Guifang chopping vegetables. She immediately greeted her with a smile. “Sister-in-law.”

Niu Guifang looked over with a grin, but her hands didn’t stop moving. “Ruanruan, you’re here! Come in and have a seat.”

Su Ruanruan didn’t step inside and instead stood at the doorway. “Sister-in-law, I just wanted to ask, do you usually go to the back mountain?”

“Of course! Why do you ask?”

“I’d like to go too. Could you take me along next time?”

“Why not?” Niu Guifang agreed without hesitation. “You came at the right time. This afternoon, I’m taking Hong Ya and her two brothers to gather firewood. I’ll call you then.”

Su Ruanruan hadn’t expected such perfect timing. “Thank you, sister-in-law! I won’t keep you busy. I’ll head back now.”

“Why leave? Stay for lunch!”

“No need, no need. Wenjing said he’d be back for lunch.”

Niu Guifang chuckled. “See? That’s how you know you’re a married woman now! Seventh Fu used to eat at the canteen for all three meals a day. Alright, I won’t keep you then. Go on, they’re probably on their way back soon!”

“Alright then, I’ll be off, sister-in-law.” Su Ruanruan bent down and handed the fruit candies to Xiao Zhenghong. “Hong Ya, take these. This afternoon, show me where to dig for wild vegetables, okay?”

Xiao Zhenghong glanced at Niu Guifang. Seeing her mother nod, she finally reached out her little hands to accept the candy and thanked her in a soft, sweet voice. “Thank you, Auntie!”
