Pheromone Collision
Pheromone Collision Chapter 66.1

Chapter 66 1/2

Jiang Li looked at the peacefully sleeping little one, searching for traces of Cen Lang in the tiny features. Somehow, he could foresee the bold and sharp eyebrows resembling Cen Lang’s as they grew thicker.

Is it an illusion, or… Is he thinking about Cen Lang?

Worries about Cen Lang’s upcoming business trip and the three-month separation made Jiang Li struggle to maintain emotional stability. Discovering Cen Lang’s fake location seemed like an opportunity to break through.

If he doesn’t retaliate a bit, will there be a next time?

Jiang Li never assumed to confine the remarkable Cen to his side. Cen would have more deployments, displaying heroic prowess in defending the territory. Jiang Li just wanted him to be truthful.

Two hours after the last feeding, there was a baby crib in the room with an automatic milk maker. Jiang Li entered the millilitres, and after a minute, a bottle with 20 millilitres of milk was ready.

Jiang Li brought the bottle to the baby’s lips. “Want some?”

The baby, seemingly deep in sleep, wrinkled his face but eagerly latched onto the bottle, seamlessly transitioning between eating and sleeping.

Jiang Wanlan spoke softly, “Let me handle this; you go have lunch.”

“Not hungry.”

Jiang Li widened his eyes. “Dad, was I like this when I was a baby?”

Jiang Wanlan replied, “Yes, quiet and well-behaved. In three months, he’ll smile when he sees Dad.”

Jiang Li murmured, “Three months…”

Since meeting Cen Lang and dividing time into three-month intervals, the first three months brought them closer, but the following two had more separations than meetings. In such a short time, they had become certain about each other.

Jiang Wanlan said, “Raising a child is full of surprises with each change.”

After feeding the baby, Jiang Wanlan advised again, “It’s time for you to eat.”

Jiang Li wasn’t very hungry, being someone who could survive on nutritional supplements, especially during pregnancy.

Jiang Wanlan persuaded her, “He took away some of your nutrients; now you should make an effort to replenish them.”

Changing the subject, Jiang Li asked, “Dad, any ideas for the baby’s name? Do you want to choose?”

Jiang Wanlan shook his head and said, “Discuss it with Cen Lang.”

Jiang Li suggested, “Jiang Wangxing?”

Wangxing? Looking up at the stars’ meaning?

Jiang Wanlan recalled the cool days of summer nights with a family of three plus the baby, enjoying the warmth. When Jiang Li looked at the distant stars, he thought of Cen Lang, making him appreciate the family activity of cooling down.

Jiang Wanlan said, “Sounds beautiful.”

“Lu Jing will.”

A soldier from the military dog training base jumped off the aircraft, leading out a military dog with a leg that had undergone surgery.

Fully black with sharp eyes, the vest connected by a leash read “Military Dog.” As it entered a new environment, a muzzle was precautionarily put on to prevent biting. The injured leg didn’t affect its walking, instead giving it a dignified and steady pace.

This young military dog, used in warfare and defence, faced more stringent requirements than police dogs. After being injured by a landmine, its running endurance decreased, leading to its regrettable retirement for safety reasons.

“No intense exercise within a month,” the caretaker reminded her. This dog was his carefully raised companion, and even facing a general, he explained calmly.

“Its name is Heifeng; it is clean, dislikes communal kennels, and prefers living alone. Does Lu Jing have other pets?”

“None.”

The caretaker suggested, “Heifeng has been on the battlefield, only recognises a master who has been in battle, and is sensitive to scents. Would you like to try?” The leash was handed to Lu Jing. “It’s not used to living with humans, so it’s best to arrange a separate kennel.”

“I’ve built a doghouse.”

Lu Jing took it, bending to pat Heifeng’s head. Heifeng, sensing the military aura, didn’t resist. The caretaker saw a brand-new doghouse and patted Heifeng, saying, “Go, this is your new home.” Lu Jing timely released the leash, allowing Heifeng to explore. Suddenly, like rewinding, Heifeng took steps back.

“What’s wrong?” Lu Jing frowned.

“There’s something inside that it fears.” The two exchanged serious glances. Was someone hiding in there?

“Hush.” Lu Jing’s eyes deepened. Someone had been hiding under his nose for so long. How did they get in? “Wait a moment!”

In a hurry, the caretaker moved cautiously, pulled out a gun, swiftly turned around, and aimed the muzzle at the door. Cen Lang, sleeping outside the bedroom, reflexively concealed his presence, lowering his visibility. Suddenly, he sensed something approaching, opened his eyes, and locked eyes with an entirely black military dog.

Territorial dispute?

Cen Lang’s gaze turned hostile.

Sensing danger, the military dog slowly retreated.

Before Cen Lang could fully grasp the situation, he keenly felt a gun pointed at him. This was trouble.

The caretaker felt like he was staring into a pair of wolf’s eyes, unable to discern whether it was a person or a dog. In an instant, the situation escalated.
