Chapter 78 1/2
Jiang Li looked around and couldn’t understand how it turned into a one-man show of little cubs.
As he was about to explain, Cen Lang said, “Seizing the throne seems quite skilful; let him perform it again.”
He wasn’t accustomed to these family reunions, so he let the little cub stand in for his father—raising a cub for a thousand days, using it for a moment.
Seeing their suddenly grown-up son, his parents were less impressed than when they saw Jiang Wangxing.
Children naturally have an affinity that dispels the initial strangeness upon waking up. Dealing with kids is always simpler than dealing with adults.
Jiang Li: “Weren’t you calm when informing me of the paternity test results? Why are you avoiding now that it’s your turn?”
Who can withstand a wife’s provocative methods? Cen Lang immediately said, “Fine, come with me. I’ll boast to my parents about how talented my wife is. You’ll have common ground; no need to worry about an awkward atmosphere.”
“Hmm? Why aren’t you moving?”
Jiang Li stood still and said, “Don’t.”
Yes, he admitted it. Although he spoke casually, he was nervous, especially at the thought of Cen Lang exaggeratingly introducing him to his parents—much more nervous than meeting Cen Wei.
When seeing Cen Wei and Cen Lang, they would mediate the atmosphere since they were dependent on each other. Meeting each other’s parents, both sides were strangers, and Cen Lang might throw the topic to him.
Cen Lang made efforts during their paternity confirmation, and Jiang Li felt obligated to reciprocate.
But… still nervous.
Cen Lang: “Leave it to our son.”
Jiang Li nodded. He consulted a doctor, who suggested keeping a patient in a familiar environment when they first wake up to avoid shocking their existing impressions and preventing memory loss.
Since Cen Jinwe and Yao Yi thought Cen Lang was too young, they decided to maintain the current situation. Confused after just waking up, he would soon realise something was off.
The little cub, from the arms of the “Woof Woof Team,” leant out, hands pressed against the glass, completely unaware that two dads were hiding behind him, feeling quite timid.
He even wanted to take advantage of his dad’s absence to quickly build the automatic feeding machine and move it into Black Wind’s doghouse.
Cen Wei came over a bit slowly, seeing Cen Lang and Jiang Li standing aside, with only the little cub communicating with his son and daughter-in-law.
Cen Wei: “What’s going on?”
Cen Lang: “Mum and Dad thought time reversed, and I became Wangxing’s age.”
Because Cen Wei was attending an event, he dyed his hair black. Since Cen Lang’s marriage, his son and daughter-in-law’s return, and the little cub calling him great-grandpa every day… With each good thing accumulating, his mental state became ten years younger.
Cen Wei: “Shouldn’t you explain then?”
Cen Lang: “You can explain.”
Cen Wei walked to the video call, and Cen Jinwen was discussing design details with the little cub, asking if he wanted to add other functions.
Two research geniuses cross-reference blueprints with a two-year-old. If industry professionals saw it, they would be amazed, especially when the little cub also directed the project.
“Daddy, can it turn invisible?”
Cen Jinwen and Yao Yi exchanged glances. “Daddy, think about it.”
They threw out various formulas for verification.
The little cub listened earnestly, his round eyes clear, playing the role of the world’s most obedient child.
“Daddy, take good rest.”
Little Jiang Wangxing saw
At the bedside of his grandparents’ medical bed, there were many tubes delivering nutrients. The little cub, empathising, expressed with concern, “Nutrients taste terrible. Let’s have a meal together when Dad comes out!”
“My grandpa can cook!”
Grandpa was referring to Lu Jing.
“Son, Mum loves you,” Yao Yi, who moved to tears, said, “Mum will try to come out in three days, and I’ll take you to buy toys and clothes.”
Some interactions only happen between parents and innocent children. If it were Cen Lang, who was already married and a father, standing here while the child grew into a towering one-metre-ninety Alpha in the absence of his parents, Cen Jinwen and Yao Yi would feel proud and guilty. It wouldn’t be as indulgent and soothing as when facing the little cub.
Suddenly, Cen Wei understood Cen Lang’s unspoken thoughts.
Cen Jinwen and Yao Yi were coaxing the little cub, but wasn’t Cen Lang also being pampered?
With Jiang Wangxing’s perspective, Cen Lang slowly filled in some childhood gaps.
Like Jiang Li, he picked up the candies of childhood during the process of raising a child.
Jiang Wangxing became a real substitute cub.
So, Cen Wei remained silent.
The little cub finished his performance and started looking for his real dad’s figure.
Distracted, the little cub, who was initially focused on Cen Jinwen and Yao Yi discussing details with blueprints, snapped back to reality.
Yao Yi whispered to Cen Jinwen, “Why doesn’t he call me Mum?”
Cen Jinwen frowned as well. Indeed, whether asleep or awake, the little cub only called Dad.
Yao Yi: “Did I do something wrong?”
Cen Jinwen: “Don’t worry.”
The couple brainstormed, and Yao Yi asked, “Before we left, was our son this lively?”
At least he didn’t speak this much, didn’t laugh this much, and most importantly, after Cen Lang learned to walk, he didn’t like being carried.
And now, little Jiang Wangxing is comfortably nestled in the arms of the bodyguard, looking adorable.
Was this a parallel world? Then what about their son?
Yao Yi felt a bit panicked for a moment, until Cen Wei appeared on the screen, making her more uneasy.
“Dad hasn’t changed the way I perceive him. Why did our son change?”
Cen Wei called, “Come here.”
Cen Lang scratched his head and followed behind Cen Wei.
The handsome and upright Alpha stood behind Cen Wei, surpassing the original.
Yao Yi hesitated and whispered, “Ah, Wen, he looks a bit like your brother.”
How could there suddenly be a brother?
Cen Jinwen and Cen Lang locked eyes.
Little Jiang Wangxing pounced into Cen Lang’s arms, hugging his neck and shouting a string of “Dad.”
Cen Jinwen was stunned. Your son, who you thought was so considerate and obedient, turned around and called someone else, Dad.
Cen Wei: “Cen Jinwen, do you know you’ve been floating in space for twenty-five years?”
“Your son, Cen Lang, got married and had a child. This two-year-old is your grandson!”
Cen Jinwen and Yao Yi suddenly focused their gazes on Cen Lang’s face.
