Chapter 19: Micro Surveillance Camera
Lin Zhizhi kept looking around her bedroom, feeling as if everything in the room had been used by someone else.
The bed she slept in every day, the blanket she used, her clothes, her shoes…
Other than herself, only Aunt Yang had the key to this apartment.
No, this place was no longer livable.
Lin Zhizhi quickly picked up a bag and stuffed her ID card, bank cards, and other important belongings into it.
She was almost certain that Aunt Yang was behind this, but she had no idea what she might have lost. There was also no direct evidence proving that Aunt Yang was responsible. Even if she exposed her now, the worst that could happen was firing her or making her pay some compensation. That was far from enough to bring her any legal punishment.
Lin Zhizhi was not someone who allowed herself to be taken advantage of.
Moreover, she had no idea how long Aunt Yang had been doing this.
Lin Zhizhi took out several needle-sized surveillance cameras from her bag. Looking at the tiny devices in her hand, she couldn’t help but smile.
“Hehehe…”
She had bought these miniature surveillance cameras while shopping one day. A salesperson had been enthusiastically promoting them, claiming they were the company’s latest products—high-definition, long recording time, remotely controllable via mobile phone, and capable of 360-degree surveillance with no blind spots. They guaranteed absolute realism and complete recording of any situation.
Of course, Lin Zhizhi would never admit that the only reason she bought them was because the salesperson had been quite handsome. His deep, alluring voice had kept her listening for a while longer, and she had ended up buying a few just to continue the conversation.
However, after paying under the gaze of the charming young man, she had simply tossed the surveillance cameras into her bag and never looked at them again.
After all, she was already taken—committed to someone. No matter how tempting the flowers outside might be, they would never lure her away.
She did a quick test on the cameras. No issues. The quality was decent.
Lin Zhizhi placed one in her bedroom, another in the dressing room, and next, she needed to install one in the living room.
Lin Zhizhi went downstairs but did not see Aunt Yang. After placing the surveillance cameras in position, she headed to the bedroom at the corner of the first floor and knocked on the door.
“Are you there, Aunt Yang?”
Through the door, Lin Zhizhi faintly heard the sound of something falling to the ground, followed by a few heavy footsteps. After a few seconds, everything went quiet. Then, Aunt Yang opened the door but immediately closed it again.
Lin Zhizhi watched the whole scene calmly, pretending not to have noticed anything unusual.
“Miss, did you need something? I just finished pouring some water. I didn’t see you when I came out, so I went back to my room to rest.” Aunt Yang said.
“Oh, it’s nothing, Aunt Yang. I just wanted to let you know that my friend invited me to go out for a bit of fun. I might be away for about a week. So, I was wondering if you…”
“I’ll wait for you to come back. I just got here from home, so there’s no need for me to go back right away. I’ll stay here, look after the house, and keep it clean.” Aunt Yang replied with a simple and honest smile.
“Well then, I’ll leave the house in your hands. Thanks for taking care of it.”
“Oh, it’s no trouble at all! This is what I’m supposed to do. You go and have fun without worrying. I’ll take care of the house.”
Lin Zhizhi maintained a harmless smile on the surface, but in her heart, she kept silently criticizing: Wolf in sheep’s clothing. She looks so innocent, offering to watch the house so I can go have fun. She probably can’t wait for me not to come back.
Aunt Yang even thoughtfully walked with Lin Zhizhi all the way to the garage. After watching her get into the car, she stayed in place for a while longer.
Through the rearview mirror, Lin Zhizhi noticed Aunt Yang still standing there, watching in her direction. She clicked her tongue softly.
There was no way she believed Aunt Yang was genuinely concerned about her. Most likely, she just wanted to make sure she had really left.
