Transmigrated as the Male Lead’s Vicious Ex-Girlfriend Chapter 27

Chapter 27: Why Is It So Hard to Save Money for Her Boyfriend?

Lu Yi and Lin Zhizhi walked toward the elevator, planning to visit the fifth floor.

Lin Zhizhi had not forgotten her purpose for coming out—she wanted to buy some clothes to take back home. This time, she intended to fully enjoy the feeling of shopping without worrying about the price. As long as she liked something, she would buy it.

Life was short, and one had to enjoy it while possible. Having lived through an entire lifetime before, Lin Zhizhi no longer wanted to overthink things, especially when it came to money.

Besides, she was now Lin the Wealthy Zhizhi.

As they stepped out of the elevator, they strolled leisurely through the spacious, bright, and spotless mall. It was midday, and there weren’t many people around—just a few scattered individuals and small groups browsing.

Lin Zhizhi pulled Lu Yi into a store at random. From the outside, the store had a simple yet fresh decor. The outfits displayed on the mannequins made it clear that this shop specialized in clothing for young women. Inside, the lighting was bright and warm, and the floor was spotless.

As soon as Lin Zhizhi and Lu Yi entered, a store assistant approached them and said: “Welcome.” After greeting them, she led them further inside and began introducing the products.

Lately, Lin Zhizhi had taken a liking to the pure desire style—figure-hugging, slimming outfits, especially short tops that revealed a slender waist.

She thought about how, in a little while, her baby bump would start to show, and by then, she wouldn’t be able to wear these sexy yet sweet outfits anymore. This only made her desire to wear such styles even stronger.

Luckily, she noticed that one section of the store was dedicated to this exact style. She picked out a few short tops, then selected several high-waisted A-line skirts and loose-fitting wide-leg jeans.

Lin Zhizhi put together an outfit, and the store assistant brought her the appropriate size. Taking the clothes, Lin Zhizhi headed into the fitting room while Lu Yi waited outside, holding her bag.

It didn’t take long before Lin Zhizhi emerged from the fitting room. As she walked toward Lu Yi, she casually ran her fingers through her hair, tidying the strands that had become messy while changing.

The outfit she had chosen was a vintage-style short chiffon blouse with ruffled edges, paired with a light blue denim skirt. It perfectly accentuated her figure, showcasing her curvaceous silhouette with absolute confidence.

The short top highlighted her slender waist, delicate enough to hold in one hand, while her long, straight legs made her appear even taller and more graceful.

Lu Yi’s gaze instinctively landed on Lin Zhizhi’s slender waist. The pads of his fingers, resting at his side, grew warm as he unconsciously rubbed them together. He knew all too well how soft and delicate that waist was — after all, he had measured it with his own hands before.

Moreover, it might have been because Lin Zhizhi was a dancer; her entire body was as supple as if she had no bones, soft as a cloud — especially when she was beneath him…

As he stared at the person now standing before him, Lu Yi quickly snapped out of his wandering thoughts. He reined in the inappropriate images filling his mind, maintaining an outwardly calm and serious demeanor.

No one would have guessed that just a second ago, his thoughts had taken such an impure turn. Only the slight redness of his ears betrayed him.

Lin Zhizhi called out to the dazed Lu Yi twice before he finally came back to his senses. She looked at him in confusion.

“What were you thinking about? I called you twice.” she asked. “By the way, how does this look?”

Lin Zhizhi waited expectantly for Lu Yi’s response. She couldn’t help but wonder if he had zoned out because he was bored waiting for her to try on clothes for too long.

Or… was it because the outfit didn’t look good?

That didn’t seem right.

She had specifically checked herself in the mirror before coming out— it wasn’t ugly.

On the contrary, it looked quite pretty.

Lu Yi almost blurted out a compliment about how beautiful she looked. But then he remembered — Lin Zhizhi liked the image of him as a cold and aloof Male God. He couldn’t risk breaking character in front of her. What if she stopped liking him?

After all, his friend Jiang Chen had once told him that if it weren’t for his good looks, with his dull and uninteresting personality, he wouldn’t have had a chance of winning over a girlfriend — let alone someone like Lin Zhizhi.

Lu Yi quickly adjusted his thoughts and replied in a deliberately aloof tone: “It’s alright.”

He spat out those two dry words, but inside, his mind was racing wildly: Ahhh, Zhizhi looks so good in this outfit! Her figure is amazing! But could she please not buy it, or at least only wear it in front of me?

Lin Zhizhi, however, didn’t think much of Lu Yi’s cold and brief comment. She found it perfectly normal — after all, that was just the kind of person he was.

After trying on this outfit, Lin Zhizhi continued trying on a few more. Eventually, she got tired of changing and simply picked out what she liked, letting the staff fetch her size.

When she was done choosing, she headed to the cashier to check out. Just as she asked the store owner for the total and took out her phone to scan the QR code for payment, she noticed Lu Yi pulling out his phone to scan it as well.

Lin Zhizhi quickly grabbed Lu Yi’s hand, stopping him. “Hey, hey, what are you doing? I can pay for it myself.”

“No need.” Lu Yi insisted. “You’re my girlfriend. Buying clothes for you is perfectly normal.”

“No way.” Lin Zhizhi objected. “Sure, we’re a couple, and it’s not like you can’t buy clothes for me. But I bought a lot today. It wouldn’t be appropriate for you to pay, especially since you also paid for our meal.”

Lu Yi remained firm. “When a guy goes out with a girl, it’s normal for the guy to pay.”

Lin Zhizhi began to feel a bit anxious.

Why was it so hard to save money for her silly boyfriend?

She couldn’t exactly come out and tell him that she knew he was short on cash—that most of his money was tied up in the company’s project operations.

Feigning irritation, she said: “What, are you some kind of male chauvinist?”

“No, I’m not…”

Before Lu Yi could finish his sentence, Lin Zhizhi cut him off. “Alright, I know you’re not. So let’s not argue about this. You can pay for me next time, okay?”

She spoke as she swiftly scanned the QR code and completed the payment.

When Lin Zhizhi saw the Payment Successful message on her phone, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Great! At least this counts as a small contribution toward helping a future big shot succeed.
