“Since this kiln is under Lady Jiang’s management, let’s speak frankly. My master believes that the items produced in your kiln are of good quality and reasonably priced. He wants me to discuss a business deal with Lady Jiang.”
“What kind of business?” Jiang Mixia inquired.
“Your kiln, not too large, not too small, with skilled craftsmen. There is great potential for growth. However, it seems you lack business acumen, not earning enough. So, our master intends to assist you. He plans to collaborate with you to expand the kiln,” Chai Fa explained, flashing a toothy grin.
“My master has decided to offer you one hundred taels to help build two more kilns, expanding the business. In return, he expects a fair share of the profits. Your kiln’s monthly earnings will give my master eighty percent,” Chai Fa elaborated.
“This deal is quite profitable. We have already prepared the contract. If Lady Jiang has no objections, please press your seal on this document.”
Jiang Mixia remained silent.
Setting aside the fact that the kiln had been established for nearly half a year and had already grown significantly, with the capacity to expand using its own profits without external investment.
Furthermore, the steward of Chai’s store offering one hundred taels and then claiming eighty percent of the monthly profits seemed more like coercion than a business deal.
Moreover, the audacity of not even engaging in negotiations and arriving with a prepared contract suggested a strong-arm tactic.
It wasn’t a business discussion but an attempt to seize the kiln.
Jiang Mixia, with a steely gaze, observed Chai Fa’s smug expression and responded with a question, “Chai’s store has always been doing well in business, hasn’t it?”
“Naturally,” Chai Fa smirked.
“Although it’s good, compared to those wealthy households, it falls short. How about this—I’m willing to invest two hundred taels with Chai’s store. As for returns, I don’t ask for much. Just give me seventy percent of the monthly profits from Chai’s store. How does that sound?” Jiang Mixia said calmly.
Chai Fa’s smile froze on his face. After gritting his teeth, he angrily slammed the teacup in his hand onto the table. “What nonsense is this? You think you can get seventy percent of Chai’s store’s profits for two hundred taels? Dream on!”
“Indeed,” Jiang Mixia scoffed. “Chai’s store proposed giving us one hundred taels in exchange for eighty percent of my kiln’s profits. Why can’t I offer two hundred taels for seventy percent of Chai’s store’s profits?”
“If we carefully consider the situation, I’m offering more and asking for less than Chai’s store did. So, who’s dreaming and talking nonsense here? It seems like it’s you dreaming and talking nonsense! It appears you’re not here for a genuine business discussion but merely causing trouble.”
“Miss, does this mean you’re unwilling to cooperate with Chai’s store?” Chai Fa waved the prepared contract in front of Jiang Mixia. “Are you not planning to sign this contract?”
“This kiln is where we craft porcelain. It’s always kept clean. Today, some unwelcome dirt has tainted this area, which is truly regrettable,” Jiang Mixia remarked.
She casually picked up the broom leaning against the wall. “If you wish to leave now, you may. But if you continue with your impertinent remarks, don’t blame us for being impolite.”
“Get out of here!” Zhu Yongwu, seizing a half-length bamboo pole nearby, positioned himself in front of Jiang Mixia.
Seeing the disparity in size between himself and the slender Jiang Mixia, along with Zhu Yongwu standing in front of her, Chai Fa, who was about shoulder height, sneered. Despite Jiang Mixia’s slender frame and Zhu Yongwu’s imposing stature, Chai Fa still found amusement in the situation.
“It seems someone prefers to offer wine rather than face the consequences for their actions. It’s alright, some individuals need to face hardships to understand which path is truly beneficial!” Chai Fa angrily commanded, “You lot, smash this kiln and show them the consequences of disobedience!”
With his order issued, the dozen or so attendants in blue attire by Chai Fa’s side rolled up their sleeves, eager to confront Jiang Mixia and Zhu Yongwu.
Zhu Yongwu tightened his grip on the bamboo pole, his nose betraying a sheen of sweat from nervousness. Having worked tirelessly the previous night with his colleagues, Zhu Yongwu insisted they rest today. In the courtyard of the porcelain kiln, only he and Jiang Mixia remained.
Despite his towering stature and strength, facing off against a few attendants like this was manageable. However, against a group of over ten individuals, Zhu Yongwu knew he might struggle to hold his ground. Moreover, even if he could withstand their assault alone, he feared for Jiang Mixia’s safety.
Feeling a mix of fear and anger, Zhu Yongwu watched as the attendants closed in. With no other option, he charged forward with the bamboo pole, engaging in a scuffle with the two closest individuals.
The rest of the group split, with some surrounding Zhu Yongwu and the others closing in on Jiang Mixia.
Seeing the situation, Zhu Yongwu attempted to fend off the two attendants in front of him before rushing to aid Jiang Mixia. However, before he could reach her, he witnessed a blur of blue flying past him.
After regaining focus, Zhu Yongwu realized it was one of the attendants in blue attire soaring in the air.
Flying over a person’s height, each one landed precisely at Chai Fa’s feet, one after another.
Subsequently, the second, third, fourth attendants… Five or six of them were sent flying like sacks, hitting the ground and wincing in pain as if their bones had shattered.
Everyone present stood frozen in shock.
Chai Fa looked incredulously at the attendants sprawled at his feet, then at Jiang Mixia, who effortlessly hoisted a robust individual over her head.
Witnessing the seemingly fragile young lady display such immense strength left Chai Fa dumbfounded.
Before Chai Fa could close his gaping jaw in surprise, Jiang Mixia forcefully flung the struggling attendant out of her grip.
The attendant hurtled towards Chai Fa and, in an instant, smashed directly into him.
Crash!
Pinned down by the attendant, Chai Fa struggled beneath his weight, growing increasingly furious.
“What are you all waiting for? Get her!” Chai Fa bellowed in anger.
The attendants hesitated, torn between obeying Chai Fa’s command and the intimidating display of strength by the young lady.
“She’s too strong. Charging in would be suicide, right?”
“Get in there together!” Chai Fa roared once more.
With Chai Fa’s renewed command, the attendants finally rallied.
Yes, together!
Although the young lady exhibited remarkable strength, it was evident she lacked martial arts skills and techniques. If they attacked collectively, she wouldn’t stand a chance.
The attendants, now coordinated in their response, readied themselves to rush towards Jiang Mixia.
