Wang Jinhe’s certainty left Nan Qiao somewhat surprised, “Sister-in-law, why do you say that?”
“Although Gu Xiruo currently has Qing Yukong’s help, it’s only for now. Once certain events unfold, if Qing Yukong can still support her, then I would truly admire Gu Xiruo’s abilities. Besides, with the Gu family elders on her case, she won’t be able to handle everything at once, especially with Gu Yanqi returning soon.” With all these factors combined, Gu Xiruo’s chances are not looking good.
“Although Sister-in-law makes a valid point, Gu Xiruo has a father who doesn’t even want his own biological son. Perhaps this could work in her favor.” Nan Qiao found Gu Sheng and his wife’s attitude towards Gu Xiruo unbelievable.
It was unheard of for someone to support their adopted daughter in going against their own son.
But Gu Sheng was indeed peculiar, not only supporting his adopted daughter against his son but also wanting to pass on the family business to her.
“How did Gu Xiruo manage to get Gu Sheng and his wife to treat her so well? It’s quite intriguing,” Luo Hou was too curious about this matter.
“I’m not entirely sure about that, but isn’t it normal? If they didn’t want their own biological son, why would they want anyone else?” Wang Jinhe used to feel somewhat uncomfortable about this, but not anymore.
Especially upon learning that Gu Sheng and his wife treated Gu Yanqi the same way, she realized she had no expectations left for this family.
“Is that so? Sister-in-law, should we take action against the Gu family after that?” Luo Hou asked Wang Jinhe.
He was aware of the grievances between Wang Jinhe and the Gu family, which is why he asked.
His main concern was that Wang Jinhe might still have some feelings towards the people in the Gu family. What if she hesitated when the time came to confront them?
Wang Jinhe quickly understood what Luo Hou meant.
She nodded with a smile, “Alright, I have no ties with the Gu family anymore.”
“The Gu family knew about the identity swap between Gu Xiruo and me, yet they still sided with Gu Xiruo and wanted to harm me. From that moment on, they are them, and I am me. We have no connection whatsoever.” Wang Jinhe remembered past year’s events vividly.
Gu Sheng and his wife were aware of this matter, they knew everything, yet they allowed Gu Xiruo to treat her this way. Not only did they allow it, but they even supported Gu Xiruo in going against her. Just the thought of it made Wang Jinhe feel like a thorn was stuck in her heart.
It wasn’t unbearable, but it was extremely uncomfortable.
Especially when she thought about how Gu Xiruo looked at her with that smug expression, she felt irritated.
Seeing the expression on Wang Jinhe’s face, Luo Hou felt concerned.
“Sister-in-law, are you really okay? You don’t seem like someone who is fine.”
“Are you truly not bothered by it?” After all, they were her biological parents. It seemed impossible for anyone to truly not care, right?
Seeing Wang Jinhe like this made them worry that she was just putting on a brave front.
Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but smile, “Ever since Gu Sheng admitted he knew I was his biological daughter, and that Gu Xiruo was his only daughter, I completely let go.”
Having biological parents who didn’t care about her was of no use, especially since she didn’t really want parents like them.
Starting from that little piece of clothing, Wang Jinhe had already mentally prepared herself.
“That’s good. Sister-in-law, whatever you want to do, just leave it to us. If you have any plans regarding the Gu family, just let us know. We will make sure you are satisfied,” Luo Hou assured to make Wang Jinhe feel better.
Wang Jinhe looked at them with a mix of amusement and disbelief, shaking her head with a smile, “You don’t need to worry about me so much, I really am fine.”
“Okay.”
“Let me know when Gu Yanqi returns,” she had things to attend to now and didn’t have time to deal with the Gu family affairs.
Everything could wait until Gu Yanqi returned.
“Okay, we’ll handle it,” Luo Hou replied.
After the two left, Wang Jinhe sat on a stone bench in the garden, watching the flowers. The smile on her face gradually faded.
Initially, upon learning the truth, she had some expectations. But the actions of Gu Sheng and his wife later on made her completely let go of those expectations.
With everyone treating her this way, she no longer cared about what would happen next.
After coming to terms with this, Wang Jinhe felt much better.
The next time she saw Gu Sheng and his wife, they would probably be considered enemies, right?
Regardless of what Wang Jinhe was thinking, Gu Sheng and his wife were unaware.
At that moment, Madam Gu was having a dispute with Gu Sheng.
“Have you lost your mind?” Madam Gu looked at Gu Sheng in disbelief and asked.
“I have made up my mind,” Gu Sheng said, looking at Madam Gu.
His words left Madam Gu with an expression of disbelief. She shook her head repeatedly, looking at Gu Sheng. “Have you truly lost your mind? I don’t oppose you treating Xiruo well, she is the daughter I raised. But the Gu family belongs to our son. Aren’t you afraid of hurting his feelings by doing this?”
Lately, she couldn’t shake off the memory of the way Wang Jinhe looked at her, and the coldness in her son’s demeanor before he left. Was it appropriate to create such a rift between Xiruo and their son?
“I know you only see Xiruo as your daughter, and I have accepted that you don’t acknowledge our biological daughter. But Yanqi is your biological son, and the Gu family has never intended for an adopted daughter to become the head of the family,” Madam Gu said angrily.
In recent times, Gu Sheng had become increasingly erratic, even considering leaving everything to Xiruo. It was simply absurd.
“That’s enough. I know what I’m doing, you don’t need to interfere,” Gu Sheng said impatiently.
He was starting to strongly dislike Madam Gu.
Madam Gu pointed at Gu Sheng, trembling, and gritted her teeth, “You will regret this.”
She was aware of Gu Xiruo’s recent actions, and she couldn’t believe that this was the daughter she had raised since childhood. How could such a ruthless person be her daughter?
“Gu Sheng, what Xiruo is doing now is wrong. Instead of enabling her, you should be helping her correct her ways. By supporting her like this, you are aiding and abetting her wrongdoing,” Madam Gu said.
Unable to bear hearing anyone speak well of Gu Xiruo, Gu Sheng was infuriated by Madam Gu’s words and slapped her across the face.
Glaring at Madam Gu with malice, he warned, “If you can’t help, then don’t hinder us. I warn you to be careful.”
He then called for the household guards, “Take the madam back to her quarters. No one in her courtyard is allowed to leave without my permission.”
Madam Gu laughed sarcastically, looking at Gu Sheng coldly, “You will face consequences sooner or later.”
Madam Gu returned to her courtyard without needing anyone to escort her.
Once back, her trusted maid approached, looking at the handprint on her face with concern, and asked, “Madam, what happened? Who did this to you?”
“Who else in the entire Gu family would dare to strike me?” Madam Gu said coldly, with a bitter smile.
The maid looked at Madam Gu in disbelief, “This… How is that possible?”
