“Now that she’s become the Princess, she’s not so kind to you and yet you still defend her. It’s truly laughable,” Gu Xiruo sarcastically remarked.
Gu Jing looked at Gu Xiruo’s eyes filled with deep jealousy and mockery, and she chuckled.
“Are you jealous that she became the Prince Yu’s consort while you’re just a noble’s wife?” Gu Jing spoke calmly.
One sentence caused Gu Xiruo’s expression to change instantly. “What nonsense are you talking about?”
“Nonsense? Your relationship with Lu Lingfeng was so close. He was willing to give up everything for you. Why did you end up marrying Qing Yukong? Wasn’t it because Lu Lingfeng saw your true colors and gave up on you? What do you have to be proud of?”
“Seeing the person you despise become a county princess, then a Princess, and eventually someone respected by all the people of Xuan Empire, do you wish you could replace Wang Jinhe and become someone so highly regarded? Unfortunately, you don’t have the fate or the qualifications for that.”
“Even your current status as a Miss of the Gu family was stolen from the Princess Yu. Where do you get the audacity to say such things?” Gu Jing knew well how Wang Jinhe’s family treated them before the birth of her son.
Wang Jinhe’s family had been genuinely kind to them, and they wouldn’t have fallen out if it weren’t for Xiao Zhi. While she may have been extreme in her child’s choice, it didn’t mean she would deny the kindness Wang Jinhe’s family had shown them.
Gu Xiruo had thought she could sow discord between Gu Jing and Wang Jinhe, but it turned out that Gu Jing was impervious to her manipulations, as if nothing she said could affect her.
“You will regret this sooner or later.”
“Don’t worry, even if you regret it, I won’t. As for you, you will eventually lose to Wang Jinhe.” With that, Gu Jing stood up, ready to leave.
Before walking away, she glanced down at Gu Xiruo. “You are not even worthy of being compared to her, just a fake Miss.”
“Don’t think a jungle fowl can become a phoenix by sprouting wings. A jungle fowl will always be a jungle fowl, and a commoner will never shake off that petty mentality.” Gu Jing’s words were a blow to Gu Xiruo.
“Gu Jing…” When Gu Xiruo came to her senses, Gu Jing had already left.
With a dark expression, Gu Xiruo left the restaurant. Since Gu Jing was so ungrateful, she wouldn’t blame her for being rude.
In the future, she would make Gu Jing kneel and beg for forgiveness to wash away today’s shame.
The news of Gu Xiruo’s attempt to approach Gu Jing quickly reached Wang Jinhe through her surveillance.
Upon learning that Gu Xiruo had tried to collaborate with Gu Jing, Wang Jinhe was deeply disappointed. Gu Xiruo truly had no sense of propriety.
It’s not just a matter of being ungrateful, but rather being overly self-righteous.
Thinking she had found a weakness to exploit.
“Did Gu Jing really refuse to cooperate with Gu Xiruo?” Nan Qiao expressed surprise after hearing the news.
With the clear attempt to sow discord and the strained relationship between Sister-in-law and Gu Jing, it was unexpected that she remained indifferent.
This made him have a newfound respect for Gu Jing.
“It’s quite normal. Gu Jing may have made mistakes regarding the child, but she is not foolish.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Gu Jing is aware of the situation between me and Gu Xiruo, she knows our grievances, she knows how much Gu Xiruo hates me. If she still can’t figure out that Gu Xiruo is trying to use her to go against me, then she would have been taken advantage of long ago in the business world by those cunning foxes.” Gu Jing is intelligent, but also extreme.
She couldn’t understand why Gu Jing became so extreme just because she had a second child. This was a question that she still couldn’t figure out.
Nan Qiao considered for a moment and nodded in agreement, “Sister-in-law is right, but is Gu Jing really not moved at all?”
“No, in the past, our family has never mistreated them. We have always been sincere and genuine towards them, never lacking in generosity. Gu Jing is well aware of this.” And as for what’s going on with Xiao Zhi, Gu Jing understands better than anyone.
Listening to the conversation between the two, Luo Hou propped his chin, his brows slightly furrowed, feeling troubled.
When Gu Xiruo is left to her own devices, she truly acts like a grasshopper, hopping around incessantly.
“Sister-in-law, when should we take action against Gu Xiruo?”
“We can do it once Lou Manqing arrives.” Wang Jinhe had long been prepared, and now everything was in place, just waiting for the final push.
And that final push would come from Lou Manqing.
Luo Hou considered whether to write a letter to inquire about Lou Manqing’s arrival time. Today’s events had made him eager.
“No need to rush. We’ve waited for so many days, a little more time won’t matter. I wonder where Su Yu and the others have gone.” Wang Jinhe suddenly spoke up.
Nan Qiao and Luo Hou exchanged a glance, and Nan Qiao quickly added, “Sister-in-law, Brother Yu and the others probably haven’t reached the border yet. It hasn’t been ten days since they left, so it will probably take another five or six days to arrive.”
Wang Jinhe was unaware of how far the border was from the capital city. Hearing Nan Qiao’s words, she furrowed her brow slightly, thinking, “Is it really that far?”
“So far. Will they be traveling non-stop?”
“They will definitely be pushing forward, but they will also need rest time. Otherwise, the foot soldiers won’t be able to endure it. After all, there are fewer cavalry, and there aren’t as many horses available.”
Wang Jinhe stroked her chin, considering the idea of setting up a horse farm after Su Yu’s return. Perhaps breeding warhorses using the spring water would yield better results?
Breeding new horses…. Lingquan Warhorses
“Sister-in-law, what are you thinking about again?” It seemed like Sister-in-law was planning something significant.
“It’s nothing. I was just thinking about setting up a horse farm to breed a batch of high-quality horses.” Wang Jinhe shared her thoughts with the two.
Nan Qiao nodded continuously upon hearing this, while Luo Hou enthusiastically agreed, “Sister-in-law, your family raises animals so well. If you raise horses, it should work out. Can I make a reservation in advance?”
“I want to as well,” added Luo Hou beside him, not wanting to be left out.
Wang Jinhe shook her head helplessly, feeling like these two were jumping around like monkeys.
“If I do end up breeding horses, I’ll reserve one for each of you.”
“Thank you, Sister-in-law.”
After discussing the horse matter, Nan Qiao brought up Gu Xiruo’s situation, “Sister-in-law, our people have been keeping an eye on Gu Xiruo during this time. The elders of the Gu family are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with her, including Gu Sheng. If this continues, her ambition to become the head of the Gu family will face even greater obstacles.”
“Really? What’s next?”
“She’s planning to take action. And Gu Yanqi is already on his way back. Gu Xiruo is unaware of this.” Once Gu Yanqi returns, he will be the rightful heir.
No matter how many ideas Gu Xiruo has, they will have to be put on hold.
Unless she eliminates all the elders of the Gu family before Gu Yanqi returns, and persuades Gu Sheng to pass the position of family head to her, it seems unlikely.
“She’s running out of time.”
