Chapter 7: You’re Really Not Human
“Alright, you’ve seen the new wife, let’s go.” Lu Zhao casually pulled Su Yunqi’s hand, preparing to leave, not at all feeling that what he had just said was harsh.
Su Yunqi obediently followed him, acting like a wall decoration. She hoped they wouldn’t drag her into their argument.
Unfortunately, this was destined to be a wishful thought.
Lu Jun’s wife glared at her and immediately turned her anger toward Su Yunqi. “Su Yunqi, what’s wrong with you! Before you even got married, Lu Zhao wasn’t like this. At least he wouldn’t say such hurtful things to us, the Big Brother’s wives! Now that you’re married, you’re encouraging your husband to take us down, aren’t you? With your kind of personality, no wonder you attract those little bullies. I think you’re being flirtatious on purpose, trying to seduce him!”
Lu Zhao had even said she was not good for her husband. Wang Yan was so angry that her teeth clenched, and she immediately lashed out at Su Yunqi.
She couldn’t yell at Lu Zhao, so wasn’t Su Yunqi fair game? After all, she was still her sister-in-law!
“Exactly, Lu Zhao, it’s not like Seventh Brother is saying this. A woman like her is clearly restless. We have so many men in our family, you better keep an eye on her. Don’t let her be the one to tear our family apart, or that would be really ridiculous.”
Lu Jun and Wang Yan were truly a couple; they were both the same kind of people, and even their words were so harsh.
Su Yunqi’s face turned red with anger. What kind of people were these!
She immediately glared at Lu Zhao, her eyes filled with killing intent!
Lu Zhao returned her a reassuring look.
“Stay back, don’t let the blood splash onto you.” He said gently to Su Yunqi.
Su Yunqi skillfully stepped back, leaving the battlefield entirely to Lu Zhao.
Lu Zhao rolled his shoulders and neck, then sneered. “Seventh Brother, have you forgotten what it feels like to be hit? And you, Seventh Sister-in-law, although I’m calling you sister-in-law, don’t push it! I, Lu Zhao, and my wife, Su Yunqi, are not someone you can talk about! I don’t have any rule against hitting women.”
Lu Zhao sneered, then took slow, deliberate steps toward Lu Jun and Wang Yan.
He was tall and imposing, and each step he took carried an overwhelming sense of intimidation.
Lu Jun wasn’t exactly short—he was 180 cm tall. The Lu family was just naturally blessed with good genes, and they had grown this tall even in the days of scarcity.
But Lu Jun, despite his height, wasn’t brave. The moment he saw Lu Zhao’s dark expression, he quickly put on a smile and tried to smooth things over.
“Come on, we’re brothers, right? What are we doing here? Lu Zhao, don’t do anything crazy. It’s all your sister-in-law’s fault. I’ll help you hit her.”
Lu Jun wasn’t a coward when it came to his wife, though. He slapped Wang Yan hard across the face, knocking her head sideways.
“Lu Jun!” Wang Yan was furious and nearly jumped at him to scratch his face. What kind of man was he! He wouldn’t hit his own brother but would hit his own wife!
“Seventh Brother, you’re really not human.” Lu Zhao honestly assessed the situation before delivering an unrelenting punch to Lu Jun’s left cheek, and then another punch to the right cheek, causing Lu Jun to scream in pain.
Then, in one swift move, he kicked Lu Jun, sending him tumbling backward into a sitting position on the ground.
“Ow!” Lu Jun groaned as he lay on the ground, clearly in pain.
Without even sparing a glance at him, Lu Zhao walked toward Wang Yan.
“Lu Zhao, what are you doing? Don’t hit me, no, no, no!” Wang Yan screamed in terror, covering her face with her hands.
Lu Zhao grabbed her by the hair and, as if she were trash, threw her to the ground, right on top of Lu Jun.
“Wah, wah, wah…” Lu Jun and Wang Yan’s son screamed in fright, crying loudly.
“Next time, if any of you talk back like this, it won’t be as easy to solve. I’m giving you one last chance.”
Lu Zhao looked down at them condescendingly before pulling Su Yunqi along and walking away without looking back.
Su Yunqi couldn’t help but glance back and glare at the two of them. Their words were even more vulgar than Lu Zhao’s; it was so infuriating!
“Alright, stop glaring, you might just pop your eyeballs out.” Lu Zhao coaxed, his large frame able to pull Su Yunqi into his arms effortlessly. She was just about at his shoulder height, and when he pulled her in, she felt completely secure in his embrace.
“Well, it’s still your fault!”
If he wasn’t so annoying, would Seventh Brother and Seventh Sister-in-law hate her so much? It was all his fault!
Su Yunqi, who was soft on the inside but feared conflict, could only grumble quietly to Lu Zhao.
“How is everything my fault? I’ll take you back to your parents’ house tomorrow. If you want to bring something for your dad and mom, we can stop by Town and buy something.”
Before leaving, he had already put some money in his pocket, so they could go directly to Town.
The mention of going back to her parents’ house made Su Yunqi fall silent. It was the third day after their wedding, and it was customary to visit her parents, so she was expected to bring something. However, she only knew that it was a tradition; she had no idea what she was supposed to bring.
“Isn’t this supposed to be something you arrange?”
Why was he passing the problem to her again?
Su Yunqi tilted her porcelain-white face up to look at Lu Zhao, her large eyes clearly showing disapproval.
But Lu Zhao was so tall that whenever she looked up at him, her neck started to ache.
“I’m the one arranging it, but you can decide what you want to buy.”
Lu Zhao had already planned out the visit to her parents’ house. If he didn’t handle it properly, Yunqi’s father and mother might not be pleased with him.
Since the incident with that bully, Su Yunqi hadn’t left the house for over half a month, let alone gone to Town. Now that she was finally with Lu Zhao, she didn’t have to worry about this or that, and she was quite excited.
However, walking from Ertang Village to Town was even farther than from Datang Village—it was about a fifteen to twenty-minute longer walk. Normally, it took her half an hour to reach Town from home, but from here, it was almost an hour.
Su Yunqi had just been tossed around by Lu Zhao twice yesterday, and today, being able to get up was already a sign of her good health. After walking for just twenty minutes, though, she was already done for.
She carefully calculated the distance and then stood there, gasping for air in despair.
“Can we not go to Town anymore? Let’s just go back?”
A thin layer of sweat had formed on her forehead, and her pale face turned a slightly reddish hue. As she gasped, her chest heaved up and down.
Lu Zhao narrowed his eyes, recalling how Su Yunqi had been so disobedient in bed the other night. She always instinctively tried to pull away, her soft, fair chest trembling with every movement.
Truly, she was beautiful, and it made his heart flutter.
He was already thinking that when they got back tonight, he’d have to convince her to move around a bit more—it would make her even more beautiful!
Su Yunqi noticed the darkening of his gaze, and his whole demeanor seemed to shift, like he was about to release the beast inside him. She became a little scared.
It felt like Lu Zhao was plotting something bad again!
She bravely kicked his calf, glaring at him with her round, almond-shaped eyes, hands on her hips.
“Lu Zhao! I’m talking to you, did you hear me?!”
Her hair had become a bit messy, stray strands fluttering in the wind, making her look even more like an angry little peacock.
Lu Zhao was oddly tempted to just pin her down right then and there.
“I heard you. So what? Do you want to walk back? It’ll still take twenty minutes.”
Lu Zhao raised an eyebrow, bending down leisurely to look at her. His large frame made him resemble a mountain as he leaned in, blocking her path.
