Chapter 9: Someone With Backing Turns Into a Little Firecracker

“It’s him! He’s bullying me! He wants to drag me home!”

“Who are you? What are you doing! Why are you carrying my wife! Put her down! Do you think you can touch what belongs to me?!”

“Exactly! Our Master Zheng’s woman—do you think you have the right to touch her?!”

A group of small-time thugs appeared, dressed carelessly, acting all tough, and their hair was all kinds of strange. They relied on their numbers and, seeing how tall Lu Zhao was, didn’t feel scared.

One by one, they yelled that Su Yunqi was their Master Zheng’s woman. The leader of the thugs, a man named Zheng Ye, also had the nickname “Master Zheng.”

He was nineteen this year, from the neighboring town. His father had a fish pond where he raised fish. The family had gotten rich, and even if they fought with people, they could afford to pay compensation. So, he had gathered a bunch of lackeys and went around causing trouble.

When they arrived here and saw Su Yunqi, they became interested and almost dragged her off in broad daylight. Thankfully, some villagers showed up and rescued her.

He hadn’t accompanied her to high school for those two years, but he made sure to visit her school often and secretly escorted her to class. Even when he was busy, he would send lackeys to follow her. That’s how Xiao Jianli had come to know Su Yunqi.

However, just half a month ago, Lu Zhao got involved in a business deal out of town and took many of his brothers with him to help. He thought that with Su Yunqi having graduated and staying at home every day, nothing would go wrong.

Moreover, every little bully in town knew that Su Yunqi was under his protection, and he didn’t think anything would happen.

So, he hadn’t bothered sending anyone to follow Su Yunqi.

Who would have thought that, just like that, Su Yunqi came to town alone to find a job and happened to run into some arrogant bullies from another town, who tried to drag her away right on the street!

When Lu Zhao found out about this, he almost rushed back that night with a knife to deal with him. Fortunately, Father Su had also gone straight to the troublemaker’s house that same night.

Of course, Lu Zhao had planned to seize the opportunity and get married first before taking care of this scoundrel.

But who would have thought he wouldn’t need to go looking for him? Zheng Ye came right to him!

“Pfft! I’m not worthy? Are you?” Then Zheng Ye looked at Su Yunqi: “Su Yunqi, I’ve given you a chance. You refuse to drink the wine of respect, so now you’ll drink the punishment wine. Zheng Ye arrogantly sneered as he leered at Su Yunqi’s beautiful face, saliva nearly dripping from his mouth.

He had heard stories about a great beauty here, but he didn’t expect her to be this beautiful! She was even more stunning than city girls! He was determined to have her.

Hearing these filthy words again, Su Yunqi’s anger almost exploded, but she wasn’t afraid anymore—perhaps it was the courage Lu Zhao had given her. She straightened up, pointed at Zheng Ye, and started cursing, her eyes blazing. “I’ll chop you up! Turn you into a little eunuch! You’re uglier than a toad! And you want to touch me? You’re not even worthy to be a finger of my man! Wait till I chop you up and toss you into your fish pond! You and the rotten mud can stay together! You’re so disgusting and stinky! Pfft! Just seeing you makes me want to puke!”

Su Yunqi unleashed a barrage of insults, her expression fierce, her brows furrowed in anger.

Lu Zhao couldn’t help but laugh; his spoiled little girl had turned into a little firecracker.

Zheng Ye and his lackeys were stunned—was this the same timid Su Yunqi?

“Su Yunqi, don’t think you’re all that just because you have someone backing you up. I’m here today to take you away! Don’t come crying to me later, begging me to let you go! I’ll even chop up this man of yours! Anyway, my family has plenty of money to pay!” Zheng Ye puffed out his chest in arrogance, signaling to his dozen or so brothers to come forward.

“Quick, get out of here! Another fight’s about to break out! There’s a new batch of thugs in our town, and they’re causing trouble everywhere! Why don’t they just go die?!”

“Stop talking! If they target you, you’re done for! Hurry up and go home!”

People on the street, seeing the tense standoff, quickly ran off, not daring to stick around to watch the drama. They were all afraid of getting involved.

“Lu Zhao! Bring your people out and kill them!” Su Yunqi slapped Lu Zhao’s shoulder, using a fake show of authority. Today, she was determined to teach these thugs a harsh lesson and show them that they couldn’t just snatch innocent women off the street!

“No need to call anyone. I’m enough by myself.”

“Brother Jianli, hold the stuff properly. This is our gift for the return visit tomorrow.”

Lu Zhao slowly made sure Su Yunqi was settled, then rolled up his sleeves, revealing his firm, muscular arms. He stood firmly in front of Su Yunqi, raising his fists and sweeping his legs, knocking down these little bullies one by one.

These thugs were only emboldened by their numbers, and people were afraid of their dirty tricks and potential revenge, which is why no one dared to stand against them. Otherwise, with their weak skills, a few random people from the street could easily beat them.

In just five minutes, Lu Zhao took down all eleven of them. His muscles bulged, hard as rocks.

Lu Zhao hadn’t held back at all.

Some had broken arms, others had broken legs. Zheng Ye, the one who had been making threats and trying to play with Su Yunqi, was the worst off. Lu Zhao shoved his head down into the ground, slamming it so hard that three of his front teeth were knocked out.

“Do you understand now? Do you still think you deserve my wife?”

“Do you think you’re some kind of big shot? You gathered these people together and think you can provoke me? Have you ever heard of my name? I’m Lu Zhao, from Ertang Village. If you’re not satisfied, come find me.”

“Next time I see any of you in our town, I’ll make sure to beat you all to death and throw you into the river. Don’t think I won’t do it.” Lu Zhao slapped Zheng Ye’s face, giving him a cold and ominous warning.

With his large frame, no one could stand against him, and his strikes were ruthless! He was known for being a heartless and vicious figure.

Zheng Ye was so scared that he wet his pants, completely forgetting the pain in his teeth. He shakily nodded and apologized.

“I understand, sorry, Brother Lu. I won’t come again.”

“And what else?”

“What else?”

Zheng Ye was confused. What more was there?

“Su Yunqi is my wife. We’re already married. Do you hear me? Who gave you the guts to harass my wife?Bow your head and apologize! You’re lucky you didn’t even touch a single finger of hers. Otherwise, I’d be chopping you up right now!”
