Farming for Survival in the Apocalypse Chapter 98

Chapter 98: Naughty Child

“Who are you saying has no manners? You’re the one shouting at a child. What gives you the right?!” The woman began yelling at Li Zhaozhao.

The woman’s scolding of him was unrelenting, but it didn’t stop thereโ€”the little girl chimed in as well, piling on with hurtful insults from time to time. The ceaseless torrent of verbal attacks from both of them was truly unbearable.

Li Zhaozhao had never encountered such brazen behavior. The woman’s scolding fueled his anger. Inexperienced in verbal confrontation, the heated exchange quickly overwhelmed him. Driven by impulse, he almost stood up to take direct action.

Bi Qiao’an held Li Zhaozhao firmly in his seat, her eyes icy as she stared at the mother and daughter.

“Qiao’an, let go! I want to give these shameless people a piece of my mind!” Li Zhaozhao said, trying to pull away from Bi Qiao’an’s grasp.

“Listen to me, don’t cause a scene. We’re still on the boat,” Bi Qiao’an urged.

“We can’t just let them bully us like this. It’s too humiliating! Today, I must teach them a lesson.”

Li Zhaozhao’s voice rose in anger, attracting attention. The woman sneered, “Hah, with your clumsy appearance, you want to cause trouble for me? Do you even know your own strength? You useless son of a bitch!”

“I’ll be damned if I don’t tear out your tongue today! My surname won’t be Li otherwise!” Li Zhaozhao, unable to break free from Bi Qiao’an, lunged forward.

Bi Qiao’an, increasingly anxious, played her trump card, “If you keep making a scene, I’ll have Shen Yanming deal with you!”

Li Zhaozhao froze, glaring at Bi Qiao’an. “I’m avenging you, and you’re making trouble?”

Bi Qiao’an pulled Li Zhaozhao down beside her and whispered, “What will you gain by arguing with her now? Is it to curse to your heart’s content or to have a physical fight?

If you vent verbally, she won’t suffer any loss. If you beat her up lightly, you’ll be unsatisfied, and she might take advantage of you. If you beat her severely, you’ll have to pay compensation and might even end up in jail.

Moreover, you’re a grown man. Once you take action, even if you’re in the right, will onlookers allow you to beat up a woman?”

Bi Qiao’an spoke softly, the water masking their conversation. The mother and daughter, seeing them whispering, rolled their eyes in disdain. “How petty!”

Li Zhaozhao, still furious, asked, “Then what should we do?”

Bi Qiao’an smiled. “Let her curse. It doesn’t hurt us. Ignore her completely. Don’t give her the power of your reaction.

You should know that evil will be repaid by evil. We just have to wait and see. Society will teach her a lesson. One day, she’ll kneel down and call you daddy.”

“But I just can’t swallow this anger!”

“That’s easy to handle. When we get back, have someone keep an eye on her. Don’t do anything; just watch. With their personalities, I don’t believe they won’t cause trouble.”

Bi Qiao’an glanced coldly at the mother and daughter, a smirk playing on her lips. “When they do… find out everything. If you’re still not satisfied, then you can make your move.”

Li Zhaozhao gradually calmed under Bi Qiao’an’s persuasion. No matter how the woman taunted him, he ignored her completely.

After a while, they finally reached their destination. Bi Qiao’an and Li Zhaozhao disembarked, but Shen Yanming and the others were nowhere to be seen.

Shen Yanming’s group had hurried toward the tents right after getting off the boat. Despite the warmer temperatures, they needed to change out of their wet clothes quickly to avoid catching a cold.

Unable to find Shen Yanming, Bi Qiao’an and Li Zhaozhao headed toward the tents. As they walked, the mocking voices followed them: “I thought they had some great abilities. Hah, just superficial show-offs!”

Li Zhaozhao fumed, but remembering Bi Qiao’an’s words, he kept pace with her without stopping.

Upon reaching the tent area, they discovered that Shen Yanming and Ji Kangyong had already left. It turned out the morning rush had caused them to bring only tents, leaving them without clothes or bedding.

They had no choice but to return to the hotel for a change of clothes. Bi Qiao’an said goodbye to the group and headed back. Li Zhaozhao, not knowing the others well, decided to follow her.

Downstairs, Bi Qiao’an asked Li Zhaozhao to go on ahead while she visited the restaurant to request a pot of ginger sugar water from the chef. She then returned to room 623, where she found Shen Yanming already showered and in fresh clothes.

“I asked the kitchen to boil ginger sugar water. You and everyone else should drink some later,” Bi Qiao’an said as she grabbed Shen Yanming’s arm. “Were you bumped or hurt anywhere?”

Shen Yanming took the opportunity to hug Bi Qiao’an. “No, I can swim, and Ranran was very well-behaved. We’re both fine.”

Bi Qiao’an’s eyes reddened, her voice muffled. “I believe you. And though I was worried about them, I was more afraid of losing you!”

Shen Yanming tightened his arms. “Don’t worry, I’ll always be with you!”

After hugging for a while, Bi Qiao’an said, “It’s already noon. Let’s not go over there; instead, we’ll have everyone come back for lunch.”

Shen Yanming nodded and sent a message in the group chat. After a brief discussion, everyone decided to have lunch together and ask about the morning’s events.

Shen Yanming booked a large private room at the hotel. With its four large tables, there was more than enough space to seat their group of over thirty people.

When everyone arrived, someone asked Zhu Shiliang, “What happened today? How did your boat capsize so unexpectedly? Wasn’t the river said to be very safe, with no history of accidents?”

Zhu Shiliang nodded. “Yes, the water here isn’t usually turbulent. That’s why they allow a child as young as Ranran on the boat.”

“Then how could it…”

Zhu Ranran’s face remained slightly pale. Hearing everyone discuss his fall into the water still frightened him. He clutched tightly at his fatherโ€™s neck.

Seeing his son like this, Fu Shuling cried in distress. “It’s all because of that little girl. If it weren’t for her, we wouldn’t have capsized today.”

Fu Shuling choked back tears. “That girl constantly asked her mother why other people were on the boat. She resented sharing the space. I thought she was just a child, so I didn’t pay much attention. But she kept making a scene the entire trip, even hitting her mother several times.

Ranran was a bit scared when he saw this and quietly told me he didn’t like the older girl, that she was too mean. Perhaps Ranran was overheard. That little girl suddenly pushed him, yelling, ‘I’ll drown you. I’ll make you like it. Who do you think you are!'”

Before we could react, Ranran was in the water. I quickly reached for him, but the raft lost its balance and capsized. No one was spared, including that mother and daughter.”

After Fu Shuling finished speaking, Li Zhaozhao said, โ€œIt seems that mother-daughter duo is even more malicious than we thought!โ€
