The appearance of this survivor took both Qin Hao and An Ya by surprise, but Yang Fan’s emotional state necessitated his immediate relocation.
Qin Hao pulled Yang Fan out from under the bed and hoisted him up, preparing to leave.
“Let me go!” Yang Fan weakly roared.
Being bedridden for an extended period had rendered his body almost immobile, let alone capable of struggling.
Despite his condition, the man remained aloof, carrying Yang Fan without interruption as he took a puff from his pipe, stating coldly, “Kid, I advise you to calm down. You can’t handle that thing on your own. Come back with us for now.”
Yang Fan’s body was incapable of movement, unable to free himself from the man’s grip. He could only be carried over the man’s shoulder towards the door.
As he was carried, his gaze followed the tall man’s steps, up and down, but his eyes remained fixed on the bloody and mangled corpse in the corner.
Tears blurred his vision…
Exhausted, his spirit drained, Yang Fan finally closed his eyes slowly.
“Hey, kid!” Qin Hao noticed Yang Fan’s lack of response, called out, but Yang Fan did not open his eyes again.
An Ya briefly assessed Yang Fan’s condition and remarked, “He has suffered significant trauma.”
Qin Hao squinted slightly, choosing not to say more, and guided Yang Fan to the car, carefully placing him in the back seat. “Let’s head back.”
An Ya entered the car from the other side, sat beside Yang Fan, put his head on her lap, allowing him to lie on his side.
Qin Hao sat in the driver’s seat, activated his communication wristwatch, and spoke, “Lao Sha, handle the scene at Taiping Lane, we’re bringing the survivor back to the base for treatment immediately.”
A young man’s surprised voice came through the earpiece, sounding rather young, “There’s a survivor under that thing’s grasp?”
Qin Hao cut off the question abruptly, “Stop chatting, come over and handle the scene.”
“Understood, Captain, we’ll be there soon.”
Qin Hao started the car.
Ahead, the headlights pierced through the endless night, where no end was in sight.
Qin Hao activated the autopilot, leaning comfortably in his seat, occasionally taking a puff from his pipe.
Thirty minutes later, the car entered the inner courtyard of an old building and drove into a warehouse.
After the warehouse door closed, a laser scan swept across the vehicle, and the wall inside the garage slowly rose as Qin Hao drove the car inside.
The vehicle descended rapidly with the elevator, coming to a stop after a dozen seconds.
As the elevator doors opened, a clean and spacious architectural style greeted them, starkly contrasting the dilapidated building above ground.
Directly across from the elevator, a sign hung on the wall reading “Scavenger Team 12.”
The car remained inside the elevator. Qin Hao got out, lifted Yang Fan from the back seat, and with An Ya, entered the facility.
“Qin Team, An An, you’re back?” A middle-aged man in a white coat and black-framed glasses emerged from the corridor, swiftly approaching.
He quickly noticed the man on Qin Hao’s shoulder, exclaiming in disbelief, “Is this the civilian survivor? Someone managed to survive under that thing?!”
“Old Bai, give him a check-up first. This kid’s situation is quite complex. We’ll talk as we walk.”
Along the way, Qin Hao briefly explained Yang Fan’s condition.
Old Bai was the team’s medical officer, and upon hearing about Yang Fan’s condition, he too was visibly shocked.
A vegetable person who had been in a coma for ten years suddenly woke up during this tragedy!
After conducting some basic examinations on Yang Fan, although he still showed vital signs, he remained unconscious, indicating a somewhat grim prognosis.
For a patient who had just emerged from a vegetative state and then lapsed back into unconsciousness due to strong stimuli, it was evidently not a positive development.
“Old Bai, are you suggesting that he might revert back to being a vegetable person?” An Ya inquired, furrowing her brow.
Old Bai adjusted his glasses and nodded, “I fear this situation may be worse than before. This time, he lapsed into unconsciousness after a severe blow. It’s not just a simple case of unconsciousness.”
Qin Hao furrowed his brow, gazing at the young man on the hospital bed. After a moment of silence, he sighed softly, “His mother is gone, his only pillar of strength lost. I don’t know if he can make it through this time.”
“Let’s do our best to save him. Whether he can make it through depends on himself.”
… …
“Xiao Fan, Mom believes you will wake up, Mom has always believed in you!”
Suddenly, Yang Fan’s eyes shot open.
He tried to follow the voice to find his mother but found nothing. Before him, there was only a realm resembling a starry sky.
There were no stars, only nine massive orbs of various colors swirling around him, within an endless space.
The orbs radiated colors of gold, black, blue, purple, cyan, red, pink, green, and yellow.
The nine-colored nebulae resembled boundless nebulae in a sea of stars, slowly rotating, immense and profound.
These nine nebulae, like nine colossal eyes in space, gazed upon this tiny human.
Before them, Yang Fan felt as insignificant as a speck of dust in the cosmic expanse.
In this vast and silent place, it felt solemn, like the edge of the universe.
“Back here again?” Yang Fan widened his eyes, observing the familiar surroundings with astonishment.
Suddenly, from the nine nebulae, nine chains shot out, traversing the stars and directly aiming at Yang Fan.
The chains aimed at his limbs, scapula, clavicle, and brow, shooting towards Yang Fan, instantly piercing his body, securely binding him.
The chains then suddenly stretched taut, exerting immense force from the iron links, pulling Yang Fan’s limbs straight.
The surrounding pressure continued to pull and tear at Yang Fan’s body, as if wanting to dismember him in parts!
For ten years, everyone believed Yang Fan had become a vegetable person, showing no response to the outside world.
However, only Yang Fan knew that he could hear his mother reading the news to him every day, praying for him, chatting with him, encouraging him, and feeling her wiping his body and massaging his limbs.
When his mother met with misfortune, he heard the loud noise and felt the intense vibrations. He sensed the impact as his mother dragged him under the bed, the sensation of her body hitting the ground.
He still remembered ten years ago when Yang Fan was just a ten-year-old boy.
During a camping trip, he accidentally wandered far from the campsite.
As he tried to return, he suddenly heard a rumbling overhead. Before Yang Fan could react, a massive meteor crashed in the distance.
Strangely, there was no prior mention in any reports about the appearance of a meteor in Qianjiang City.
The fact that such a massive meteorite fell without any prior detection was puzzling.
The energy from the meteor impact was too terrifying. Even though Yang Fan was several kilometers away from the impact site, the intense shockwave still sent him flying forcefully.
At that moment, his body didn’t suffer significant injuries. However, just a second before he lost consciousness, Yang Fan saw nine clusters of colored light swiftly colliding towards his head.
Subsequently, his consciousness found itself in this space, unable to escape.
All these times, he wasn’t really in a coma for a decade.
He was simply trapped here!
Confined in this realm of consciousness!
