Meteor Chapter 3

Chapter 3: Mysterious Orb

For a decade, Yang Fan had been firmly bound by these nine nebulae chains, trapped within this sea of stars.

Despite being securely bound by the chains, Yang Fan simply lowered his head calmly.

Over the past ten years, he had grown accustomed to this “treatment.”

“Ten years ago, you wanted me dead. I asked who you were, you remained silent. I asked why, you stayed silent. I begged for mercy, pleaded for a chance to live, but you wouldn’t allow it!”

“You do not differentiate between right and wrong; you are determined to obliterate my spirit!”

“It was my mother’s unwavering devotion over the past ten years, her countless calls that rescued me from the brink of despair, giving me the courage to confront you.”

“My only wish is that when the day comes for me to awaken, I will spend the rest of my life repaying her kindness, that’s all I ask.”

Yang Fan slowly bowed his head, his gaze filled with endless sorrow. “But from now on, I will never hear her voice again…”

Tears silently streamed from his bloodshot eyes.

Suddenly, Yang Fan’s tone shifted. He raised his head, eyes wide with anger, “If it weren’t for you trapping me, why would she venture out late at night to buy medicine for me? If it weren’t for you trapping me, how could I have watched her cruelly murdered and…”

“I can’t do anything!”

“You’ve trapped me for ten years! Tortured me for ten years! And you still won’t let me go?!”

“For ten years, you couldn’t kill me. Today, I, Yang Fan, will break free from your shackles!”

With a sudden roar from Yang Fan, a small ball of light condensed at his abdomen, flickering erratically and highly unstable.

During the dim moments of the light ball, the core of the light ball could be seen, with a tiny bead-like object at its center, about the size of a grain of rice, of unknown nature.

The faint light compared to the nine large nebulae was like a firefly’s glow.

As Yang Fan’s thoughts shifted slightly, he merged his consciousness with the light ball, slowly closing his eyes and steadying his mind.

Ten years of battling against the nebulae had nurtured the miraculous orb within Yang Fan’s body.

On that fateful night when Yang Fan learned of his mother’s crisis, he unleashed his full potential, causing the orb within him to appear and activate for the first time.

With the appearance of the orb, he could surprisingly resist the nebulae chains!

Seizing this opportunity, Yang Fan managed to break free from the nebulae chains twice!

Once upon witnessing his mother’s tragic death, and the other when he questioned Qin Hao.

Unfortunately, both awakenings were short-lived; he was immediately countered and trapped once again.

Looking back now, the reason why the murderer who killed his mother didn’t discover Yang Fan under the bed might have been because at that moment, Yang Fan was enduring the fierce retaliation of the nebulae chains, teetering on the brink of death, with weakened consciousness, narrowly escaping disaster.

“This orb can help me escape from this realm of consciousness. However, the unstable power of the orb resulted in repeated defeat during the nebulae’s counterattacks.”

Recalling his two failed attempts, this time Yang Fan didn’t rush to break free forcefully from the nebulae chains but instead adjusted his breathing, practicing steady exhalation.

After an unknown period, a voice suddenly resonated in Yang Fan’s mind.

【Purity and impurity coexist; when purity is disturbed, turbidity arises; when turbidity settles, purity emerges.】

【Heaven, Earth, and the human heart, at times tainted, can be transformed by mindfulness, turning impurity into purity.】

Yang Fan widened his eyes, realizing clearly that the voice emanated from the orb!

【Remain unfazed even as mountains crumble before you; stay composed even as the sky falls above.】

【When facing a formidable foe, maintain calmness like still water, with a mind free of defilements.】

“Remain unfazed even as mountains crumble before you; stay composed even as the sky falls above…” As Yang Fan silently recited these words in his mind, his state of mind quickly calmed.

At this moment, the orb emitted a faint light, resembling blood, glowing faintly from Yang Fan’s abdomen and flowing through his body.

With a focused and tranquil mind, Yang Fan entered a state of stillness.

The gentle light felt like a warm stream, flowing into his body, bringing comfort and freshness.

Maintaining this state, after an unknown period, Yang Fan felt his entire body enveloped by the warm flow.

The voice resounded once again.

【Level 1: Revival!】+

“Upgraded?”

As Yang Fan pondered in astonishment, suddenly, his entire body emitted a faint white light!

Wherever the white light touched, the chains penetrating Yang Fan’s body began to vibrate violently, then were forced out of his body by the white light!

Even after leaving Yang Fan’s body, the chains did not completely disappear.

Each chain, resembling a snake with its head raised, extended towards the endless nebulae in the distance. The lengthy chains vibrated slightly, appearing like nine giant dragons in the starry sea, firmly locking onto Yang Fan, presenting a formidable attack formation.

While the miraculous orb had removed the nebulae chains from Yang Fan’s body, it was not enough to completely deter them.

Yang Fan gazed calmly at the nine clusters of nebulae. Despite the orb still being relatively weak, after this upgrade, the white light had become quite stable, unlike its previous flickering nature.

Finally, he would no longer be subjected to repeated counterattacks as before.

“After ten years, you will never trap me again!” Yang Fan said coldly, squinting his eyes slightly.

Recalling the voice he heard earlier, Yang Fan couldn’t help but look at the orb on his abdomen.

“This thing can actually level up, and it’s teaching me how to enhance it!”

The key to leveling up the orb is to transform “impurity” into “purity.”

The state of tranquil meditation he had previously achieved was akin to settling impurities.

However, even if Yang Fan continued to practice, he couldn’t sense any response from the orb, indicating that it might have reached its limit for enhancement.

“Purity arises from impurity; without impurity, there is no way forward. It seems I need to encounter more impurities to have a chance at continuing to upgrade the orb.”

Since he couldn’t currently progress further, Yang Fan decided not to linger in the realm of consciousness and quickly vanished from the spot.

On the hospital, Yang Fan opened his eyes.

He was currently lying in a single-person hospital room, with a tube inserted into his wrist connected to an electronic device beside him, displaying rhythmic patterns and numbers.

A beam of morning sunlight streamed in through the open window, casting a warm glow on the windowsill. The sky outside was a clear blue, with a pleasant temperature.

The chirping of birds outside the window was clear and lively, as they fluttered happily among the trees.

“My vision and hearing seem to have improved compared to before,” Yang Fan mused, wondering if it had anything to do with the orb.

Before long, the door was pushed open, and a man in a white coat, wearing silver-rimmed glasses, briskly entered the room.

He looked extremely surprised upon entering, staring at Yang Fan intently, quickly walking to his bedside to check the data on the instruments and gently lifted Yang Fan’s eyelids.

“Incredible, you’ve actually woken up!” The man widened his eyes, looking at Yang Fan in shock. “You’ve been unconscious for five days; I thought you might not wake up!”

After a thorough examination of Yang Fan’s condition and ensuring his stability, the doctor advised him to rest well before leaving the room.

Being bedridden for years, Yang Fan’s body was still unable to move. He could only lie in bed, gazing out at the “window.”

If he guessed correctly, this place was likely not a typical hospital but possibly related to the Scavengers.

His foster mother’s tragic death, the monsters in the dark “Beast Realm,” Qin Hao, An Ya from the Scavengers Team 12… Yang Fan furrowed his brow slightly.

This world seemed to have become somewhat unfamiliar.
