“What?!” Lin Chengyuan shot up from his bed like a startled fish, his eyes wide with shock. “Has the operation started? What’s the current status?”
“Not yet, Mr. Chengyuan. She’s currently undergoing examinations. If everything is fine, the operation will commence. Please hurry over,” the hospital director replied in a hushed tone.
As Lin Chengyuan dressed himself, he instructed, “Keep her stable. Even if the examinations are completed, don’t proceed with the operation. If anything happens to the child in her womb, you’ll be in deep trouble!”
The hospital director, feeling the urgency in Lin Chengyuan’s tone, seemed to assume that Wei Yuxian’s unborn child was his own. After hanging up the phone, he sat back in his chair, sweating profusely.
Fortunately, he made the call in time. If the girl had already undergone operation, he might have been out of a job. With Lin Chengyuan’s attitude, those two children were most likely his.
After a brief moment, the hospital director made another call to his subordinates, instructing them to keep the girl stable and under no circumstances proceed with the operation until Lin Chengyuan arrived.
Although his subordinates were unaware of the situation, they dared not question him and assured him that they would keep the situation under control.
Still feeling uneasy, the hospital director put on his glasses and decided to personally oversee the situation.
On the other end, after hanging up the phone, Lin Chengyuan immediately called Fu Xuanyi. “Xuanye, that woman is about to have an abortion. Hurry, come with me to the hospital and stop her!”
As soon as the call connected, he quickly explained the situation.
Fu Xuanyi replied with three words: “I Got it.” And then hung up.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Wei Yuxian had been running around for over an hour, finally completing all the necessary examinations for the operation.
She approached the doctor, hoping to arrange the operation as soon as possible. However, the doctor asked her to wait patiently as her operation was scheduled for the afternoon.
Wei Yuxian didn’t question it and quietly sat in the hospital, waiting. As time passed, she didn’t get her operation, but instead, she encountered two unfamiliar men.
No, one of the two unfamiliar men was someone she had seen before — the man from that night.
Wei Yuxian looked up at him. He was tall, towering over her even more as she sat in the chair.
That face, she would never forget it in her life!
If it weren’t for his deception, she wouldn’t have to be in the hospital today for operation!
Now, this man suddenly appearing here, what was his purpose?
But regardless of his purpose for being here, Wei Yuxian didn’t care anymore. What she cared about now was making him pay!
This was the mess he created, so he should foot the bill!
Wei Yuxian stood up, locking eyes with the man. Seeing his dominant presence, she couldn’t help but feel a bit weak. She clenched the hem of her clothes with both hands and asked, “Do you remember me?”
Fu Xuanyi looked down at her and nodded. The indifference in his eyes was like still water, unfathomable, leaving people unsure of what he was thinking.
She had lost even more weight.
Feeling somewhat irritated, Fu Xuanyi stroked the Buddhist beads on his wrist, rolling them one by one to calm his mind.
Wei Yuxian bit her lip and, feeling a bit ashamed, said, “I’m pregnant… But don’t worry, I’m having operation today. For the operation fee, could you… could you help with it?”
Three thousand yuan wasn’t a small amount for her, and the man in front of her, dressed in fine clothes with a strong presence, seemed to be wealthy.
Three thousand yuan shouldn’t be a big deal for him, right…
As she spoke, her voice grew quieter, and she even lowered her head out of fear.
The man’s gaze was too icy, his expression devoid of emotion, giving off an intimidating aura. Wei Yuxian felt her heart sink, too scared to meet his eyes.
At the same time, countless possibilities flashed through her mind. What if this man didn’t acknowledge it? What if he refused to pay? What if he turned the tables on her…
Fu Xuanyi remained silent, taking her hand and leading her to undergo the examination.
Wei Yuxian was forced to follow him through various unknown examinations in the hospital. She didn’t know what this man meant or what aspect these tests were related to.
Several times, she wanted to ask him what he was doing and if he was willing to pay for the operation. However, every time she looked at his freezing face, she dared not speak.
Who was he exactly? What was his identity? And why could he skip the queue and take her for tests?
Was he mute? He hadn’t uttered a single word since appearing.
The other man beside him seemed a bit easier to get along with. At least his expression wasn’t as cold as death; there was a hint of a smile.
Lin Chengyuan felt helpless about Fu Xuanyi’s behavior. This guy didn’t say a word, with a cold face, did he really think this girl had a lot of courage?
After the tests were done, they waited for the results in the hospital’s VIP lounge, and Wei Yuxian’s hand could finally be freed from the man’s grasp.
Lin Chengyuan sat down and smiled, saying, “Hello, sister-in-law, I’m Lin Chengyuan, Xuanye’s childhood friend. Please take care of me in the future.”
His words startled Wei Yuxian!
Sister-in-law?
He called her sister-in-law!
Wei Yuxian looked at him, her face full of horror, and hurriedly said, “I’m not your sister-in-law! You’ve got the wrong person! What exactly do you want to do? If you don’t want to pay for the operation, just say it.”
She finally managed to say what was on her mind, though it was choking her.
Lin Chengyuan: “You’ll know soon enough. Sister-in-law, don’t be afraid. We just conducted a paternity test on you. Although I know you’re not that kind of person, it’s better to be cautious.”
His words made Wei Yuxian a little angry. She questioned, “What? Do you think I would deceive you about the operation fee?”
Lin Chengyuan realized she misunderstood and explained, “You’ve misunderstood, sister-in-law. That’s not what we meant. This is Xuanye, whose real name is Fu Xuanyi. If the child is Xuanye’s, we will take responsibility for you and the child.”
Wei Yuxian gritted her teeth and looked towards the man, who still hadn’t uttered a word.
Turning her gaze back, she addressed Lin Chengyuan, “You better keep your word. If the results prove that the child is his, you must cover the operation fee for me! And the postoperative recuperation expenses should not be skimped on either!”
She didn’t dare to speak to Fu Xuanyi because his presence was too intimidating, cold and aloof. But facing Lin Chengyuan’s friendly attitude, she didn’t feel as weak in her speech.
Lin Chengyuan felt a bit of a headache. It seemed that his sister-in-law still hadn’t understood his point. So, he continued to explain, “Sister-in-law, what we mean is, if the child is Xuanye’s, we will take responsibility for your child. That is, we will take care of you and the child, not that we want to abort the pregnancy.”
Wei Yuxian was stunned, unable to speak as she looked at Lin Chengyuan. Then she glanced at Fu Xuanyi, who happened to raise his eyes and was also looking at her.
