Chapter 10: A Huge Mix-Up! She Got the Wrong Blind Date
Now, even Shen Juan and Bai Yaotian looked completely confused.
Hongmei carefully examined Lu Siting and confirmed that she truly didn’t know this young man before saying: “The person I introduced was supposed to wear black today—didn’t you all remember? Just look at what this young man is wearing. That’s not black at all.”
That was true. Lu Siting was wearing a dark gray top, definitely not black.
Immediately, everyone turned to look at Bai Wei.
Even Lu Siting glanced at her subtly.
Feeling a little awkward, Bai Wei quickly tried to explain: “Mom, Aunt Hongmei, didn’t you say the guy I was supposed to meet was over 1.8 meters tall, really good-looking, and came from a decent family?”
“That’s right, I remember Sister Mei saying exactly that.” Shen Juan said, thinking it over and confirming with a nod.
Only Hongmei stood there awkwardly. Just as she was about to speak, Shen Juan interrupted her. The words got stuck in her throat—saying them would sound wrong, not saying them felt even worse.
After working as a matchmaker for so many years, Hongmei had gotten used to exaggerating a little. Usually, she just hyped both sides up a bit.
The guy she introduced had said he was 1.75 meters tall. Rounded up, wasn’t that basically 1.8?
He looked decent—pleasant and well-featured. It’s not like he was some crooked melon or rotten date, right? That counted as “good-looking.” didn’t it?
His family ran a noodle shop that did pretty well. She’d eaten there herself multiple times. That’s actually how she met him in the first place and thought he deserved a good match. Business seemed steady, so the family income couldn’t be bad.
As for education, he had studied! Sure, it was only one year of high school before he went home to help with the family business, but that still counted as having some schooling, didn’t it?
But now, comparing looks and height alone, there was a pretty clear gap between the guy she introduced and the man in front of her.
Bai Wei continued: “But the truth is, the guy in the black clothes was—at most—1.75 meters tall. His looks were average at best. You couldn’t really call him handsome. Plus, he was a little chubby.”
“And besides, Lu Siting was sitting just a table away. Look at him—don’t you think he fits Aunt Hongmei’s description more?”
As her parents nodded in unison, Bai Wei said with satisfaction: “That other guy, aside from wearing black, didn’t match anything else you told me about. But look at Lu Siting—everything fits, right? So I assumed he just changed clothes before coming and didn’t get a chance to tell us.”
“I went over and asked if he was here for a blind date, and he was. So I thought I hadn’t gotten the wrong person at all…”
Once Bai Wei finished explaining, everyone finally understood—it really was a huge mix-up. She had mistaken someone else for her blind date.
It hadn’t been intentional. She hadn’t skipped the meeting on purpose—she had just approached the wrong man. And what a coincidence—it just so happened that Lu Siting was also there for a blind date.
Hongmei let out a long breath. As long as things could be explained, that was good enough. At most, they could reschedule in a few days and have both families sit down for a proper meal.
Then, her eyes narrowed slightly, and she looked toward Lu Siting with some suspicion. “If it really was a mix-up, then why is this young man in your house?”
Since it was a blind date, it should’ve been the first time they met. Who meets once and then goes straight to someone’s home for dinner?
Bai Wei had no choice but to say: “Aunt Hongmei… we already registered our marriage this afternoon.”
“Oh, so you registered the marriage—wait, WHAT?! You’re telling me you got married today? You just met today and went straight to get married?!”
Hongmei could hardly believe it. Her eyes went wide as she stared at the two of them in shock.
