Chapter 105 2/2
Cen Lang: “It’s white.”
Jiang Wangxing glanced at the airstrip. “I see Uncle’s aircraft.”
Aircraft were a means of transportation that only a few people could afford. There were not many aircraft on the airstrip, but Cen Lang’s aircraft seemed to be several notches higher in appearance compared to the others.
Jiang Li said, “Thank you for carrying Wangxing to the mountaintop. I won’t trouble you to go back.”
Jiang Wangxing caught onto some information. “Dad, did Uncle carry me up?”
Jiang Li replied, “Yes.”
Jiang Wangxing asked, “Dad, are you tired?”
Jiang Li replied, “Mm.”
Jiang Wangxing, oblivious to his own condition, said, “Uncle, next time you can carry my dad, and I’ll take the stairs!”
Jiang Li wanted to turn around and leave, but Cen Lang didn’t seem to intend to return his backpack.
Jiang Li said, “I—” He wanted to make up a lie, saying his husband would come to pick him up, but he couldn’t say it. Besides, the child could understand and might expose the lie.
Forget it; with the attitude of those top Alphas towards Cen Lang, his identity probably wasn’t simple, and it would be easy to investigate him. Moreover, he worked at the Federal Research Institute, and his resume was easy to check.
According to federal law, the child would be awarded to the biological father, and this man didn’t seem like someone who would resort to underhanded means to snatch the child.
Jiang Li said, “It’s no trouble. I live next to the Pheromone Research Institute.”
Cen Lang put on the backpack and reached out to Jiang Wangxing. “Let me carry him.”
Jiang Li, feeling defeated, handed him over.
As they passed the exit, staff from the scenic area’s photography studio enthusiastically solicited customers, “Two dads can bring their child to change into our special costumes for a photo shoot. We have a family discount!”
Jiang Li felt a headache coming on. “No, thank you.”
The staff persisted, “We offer a 40% discount for Children’s Day! Our props are very popular among children. Your family is so good-looking, and if you’re willing to let us use the photos for promotion, we can even give you a 10% discount!”
Jiang Li didn’t want his son and Cen Lang to leave any images behind. He quickened his pace and said, “Thank you.”
Cen Lang reminded me from behind, “The aircraft is this way.”
Jiang Li took a different path.
Cen Lang sat in the pilot’s seat and took out the walkie-talkie from his pocket, placing it on the console. The child saw it and asked curiously, “Uncle, have you ever dismantled an aircraft?”
Cen Lang replied, “Yes.”
Jiang Wangxing exclaimed, “Uncle, you’re amazing.”
Cen Lang said, “When you grow up, you’ll be just as amazing as me.”
Jiang Li’s heart skipped a beat.
Unlike the cable car, the aircraft was much faster. In a few words, they flew over the research institute and landed in the open space in front of it.
Cen Lang was aware of his unusual behaviour and forcefully suppressed the urge to follow Jiang Li home, saying, “Is it okay here?”
Jiang Li replied, “Yes, thank you. I’ll just take a walk and be home soon.”
“Goodbye, Uncle,” Jiang Wangxing said cheerfully, bouncing ahead, with Jiang Li following behind. They had walked this path countless times before, and Jiang Wangxing had long memorised it.
Cen Lang watched their figures recede into the distance, feeling a sense of desolation around him. How come, just after parting, it felt like a piece of his life was missing?
If he were to be a kind-hearted passerby, he should say goodbye here. But… He couldn’t bear to.
Jiang Wangxing had a strong learning ability, especially after experiencing new behaviors. Jiang Li watched as the child sat on a pile of toys, dismantling them one by one. When his hands weren’t enough, he used his feet, and when that wasn’t enough, he used his teeth.
After making a mess, he eagerly looked for his father. “Let’s put them back together quickly.”
Jiang Li closed his eyes. If Cen Lang’s method of dismantling the walkie-talkie could be reversed, he would eat his hat.
Resignedly, Jiang Li went to find some glue. “Although the casing has been restored, the inside is still broken,” he said. “Son, it can’t sing anymore.”
Jiang Wangxing paused. “What about Uncle’s walkie-talkie?”
Jiang Li replied, “That Uncle’s walkie-talkie was already broken, so he dismantled it to show you what it looks like inside. It’s like an assembling game.”
Jiang Wangxing pondered for a moment. “My toys are good.”
Jiang Li nodded. “Yes, good things shouldn’t be dismantled, or they’ll be ruined.”
Jiang Wangxing said, “I understand, Dad.”
For Children’s Day dinner, Jiang Li deliberately bought many moulds and shaped the rice, vegetables, and fruits into various animal shapes. With white rice as the base, black rice was used for panda ears and eyes, and alongside were stir-fried green beans as bamboo shoots. It was simple, and the child graciously finished everything.
“Thank you, Dad!”
After dinner, Jiang Li held his son’s hand and took out the kitchen waste to dispose of it. The garbage disposal area in the community was divided into recyclable and non-recyclable sections, with many discarded appliances in the recyclable area.
Jiang Wangxing had a bright idea. “Dad, can we pick up some garbage to dismantle at home?”
Jiang Li’s heart sank. The waste management staff recognised Jiang Li and his son and joked, “Which one do you want? Grandpa will help you bring it home.”
Jiang Wangxing said eagerly, “Grandpa, I want them all!”
Jiang Li intervened, “No, Grandpa needs to keep them to sell for money.”
“It’s worthless. You’re all taking them away,” the manager said generously. “The Space Forces have developed many energy and mineral resources. Recycling electronic waste is inefficient and harmful to the environment. Most of it is transported to the garbage star for disposal.”
Jiang Wangxing spotted a refrigerator and set his sights on it, eager to dismantle it.
Jiang Li’s cleanliness obsession flared up, and he caught sight of Cen Lang “coincidentally” passing by and stopping. He gave up and thought to himself, “You guys can dismantle here; I’m leaving.”
However they wanted to dismantle, once the child cleaned up, he would return the items to him.
