Chapter Fifteen: The Wrath of the White Dragon

A peculiar procession moved along a narrow mountain path in the Fulong Mountain Range.

This path, barely visible from high altitude, was located at the bottom of a long and narrow gorge. Covered with vegetation on the cliffs above, those traveling below, both people and horses, were practically invisible from above.

Ganis rode alongside the fully armored Master Fami, both watching the young mage leading the way twenty meters ahead, sensing something.

“People only know that the Fulong Mountain Range is extremely dangerous, with the possibility of being attacked by dragons at any time. Who would have thought there would be such a marvelous passage? If this road can traverse the entire mountain range and reach the other side of the Myles Empire, it could shorten the journey by at least three months,” Ganis remarked.

Master Fami whispered, “Pass through the territory of that person?”

Ganis chuckled bitterly.

Regardless of who it was, living safely in the heart of the dragon-infested Fulong Mountain Range couldn’t possibly be someone powerless.

A Lich?

Or a reclusive archmage?

Ganis leaned towards one of these options.

Even if someone were to beat him to death, Ganis couldn’t imagine that a weak instructor, let alone a dragon, could pass through, let alone survive, let alone emerge.

As they ventured deeper into the mountains, a faint roar, as if from a dragon, occasionally echoed from the horizon.

This kind of roar, containing the intimidating power of the top predator in the food chain, was unbearable for ordinary people. It could cause mental confusion at best and mental breakdown or death on the spot at worst.

Ganis and the others didn’t look good.

Although the narrow mountain path provided them with the best cover, encountering a dragon in this terrain would be a matter of life and death.

“Roar—”

Another thunderous dragon roar.

Fortunately, the mouths of the horses were already bound, otherwise, the sound of their neighing alone might attract the dragons.

Ganis asked, “How much further, Jikade?”

“Once we turn past the next mountain path, we’ll be able to see the peak where Master resides,” Jikade replied.

After a moment of consideration, Ganis decisively said, “Leave one person to watch the horses, and the rest of us will proceed on foot. Raise our ambassadorial flag.”

A flag with a red and yellow background, shaped like a shield, with the emblem of a crowned double-headed lion, was raised high.

Undoubtedly, this flag represented the glory of the Sevantian Kingdom!

In both the north and south directions, obstructed by cliffs and vegetation, they shouldn’t be visible from the outside. Ganis was certain: with the power of someone like Tang Si’s master, once they approached, they would immediately detect their team.

Revealing their presence boldly, advancing grandly from east to west, this was the etiquette of an embassy.

Less than ten minutes later, they saw a distant black peak, and the sky, which had been relatively clear, suddenly darkened.

Tang Si suddenly tightened the reins.

“What’s wrong?” Ganis rode up to him and asked.

“Master…Master seems to have noticed us, and he… seems very unhappy,” Tang Si teeth chattered.

After days of probing, Ganis naturally knew that Tang Si’s master was adept at lightning magic. But to discover them from this distance was surprising.

Oh God!

They were still nearly two kilometers from the mountain peak.

He sensed their presence?

What kind of incredible power was this?

“It’s… unlikely,” Master Fami swallowed hard.

After pondering for a moment, Ganis also thought it was unlikely. “Should we slow down and continue forward?”

Tang Si was completely numb. “Let me make it clear, if Master gets angry, please don’t approach anymore. Let me go and apologize to him.”

Recalling the incident where a king offered a kingdom’s treasury, and Master had dismissed it, Tang Si felt that Ganis and the others had been discourteous, making Master unhappy.

The team continued for another ten minutes, when suddenly Tang Si raised his right fist, the agreed signal to stop.

“What’s wrong?”

“Master, Master’s mage tower is lit up!” Tang Si’s voice sounded desperate.

Following Tang Si’s gaze, Ganis and the others looked towards the mountaintop and were immediately astonished.

In the sky, dark clouds churned and rolled, clearly stirred by some unknown force.

Lightning flashed and thunder rumbled in the clouds, each thunderclap hitting everyone’s hearts like a drum.

Within a radius of three kilometers in the sky, thousands of lightning bolts, large and small, began to converge into a single point on the mountaintop, making lightning the sole ruler of this airspace!

Birds in the mountains flew in panic, instinctively trying to flee from this suddenly terrifying presence. Some birds, in their panic, crashed into the “anti-air trees” at the top of the slope before they could even take off, falling tragically once again.

The half-elf advisor, who had lived for over two hundred years, felt blank in his mind. It took him several seconds to react and realize how terrifying this thunderous power was!

“In ancient legends, legendary mages rode their floating cities into the higher realms and launched assaults on the divine kingdoms of the gods, even knocking down some of those divine realms… this legend is actually true…” Ganis trembled all over, both excited and worried.

The sudden activation of the mage tower by the legendary-level mage across from them meant either that the other party was very displeased or that something had happened.

If the scene at this moment had been merely Ganis’s imagination, what happened next immediately confirmed his thoughts.

“Roar—” a distant roar echoed from the horizon.

“Dragon! White Dragon!” cried the high-ranking ranger responsible for vigilance in the messenger team, pointing to the sky in the south.

A huge and graceful creature spread its wings, entering everyone’s view.

Its pure white body shimmered in the lightning, with scales that seemed to be covered by a sacred and inviolable white halo.

It raised its head and howled, and the sharp claws on its limbs seemed to be slightly extended. The best ranger (ranger) in the messenger team could even see the dense and solid scales covering the dragon’s body and the structure at the end of its tail, which was longer than a siege catapult, resembling a meteor hammer.

Fortunately, unfortunately, the target of the white dragon was not the messenger group, but the person on the mountain top.

The white dragon raised its head, and with eyes as sharp as diamonds, it stared at the human figure next to the strange tower on the mountain top.

There was a slight commotion in the messenger group.

Master Fami gritted his teeth. “Damn! It’s a juvenile white dragon! White dragons, these beasts, are unreasonable.”

White dragons, also known as ice dragons or glacier dragons, were famous for their sluggishness and stupidity. But they shouldn’t bear this reputation. Although white dragons had significant bestial traits, their intelligence was on par with other chromatic dragons. They simply didn’t care about complex plans or political power, preferring to live as predators and treasure collectors.

They would recklessly attack anything in their territory unless potential victims could quickly provide enough reasons not to kill them, such as gems that could tempt them.

This over 12-meter-long juvenile white dragon is very troublesome. Normally, it would take a team of at least five newcomers to the master level to contend with it.

Yes!

Just contend!

The inherent high mobility of white dragons means they can escape at any time, and the vengeful white dragon will unleash endless and limitless retaliation against those who have angered it at any point in its long life.
