In Italy, Bai Lan received a transoceanic call at the Mafia Academy.
The call originated from Yokohama, Japan.
Upon recognizing the number without resorting to exclusion, a certain interesting suicide enthusiast popped into his mind.
“Dazai?”
Bai Lan, at fifteen years old, possessed a shared memory of eight trillion parallel timelines, excluding a few unexplorable parts. He was undoubtedly the world’s largest repository of information, with thoughts flowing through parallel dimensions every second, holding countless coveted knowledge and various secrets from nearly a century.
In one of these parallel timelines, Bai Lan compiled a global list of talents.
Dazai was prominently featured on this list.
He was Japan’s ultimate anti-supernormal Ability user, living in Yokohama, capable of neutralizing the flames of death and the armament of the soul box. He was someone any ambitious person couldn’t subdue and had to be wary of.
The purple eyes of the white-haired youth flashed with an unusual brilliance, his fingertip touching the inverted crown at the corner of his eye.
“So, he’s encountered Hyakki? “
Among countless parallel timelines, with numerous Dazais, one had to wait until Dazai made a name for himself in the Mafia world before he would come into contact with Bai Lan’s circle.
In a world with special Ability in this world, it indicated Dazai possessed the “No Longer Human” Ability.
There were considerable differences among the eight trillion parallel timelines; some had Abilities, some did not; some leaned purely on technological aspects, while others had monsters and demons. Time passed differently between spaces, indirectly enabling Bai Lan to possess some precognitive abilities, deducing processes based on events that had occurred.
Oddly enough, Bai Lan had only encountered the teenage Dazai once in a parallel timeline. That Dazai seemed to have awakened memories of parallel timelines similar to his own. Their conversation held a mutual understanding, without needing causes or consequences; they were like “kindred spirits” or old friends… talking about a deal.
The content of their deal was to save Hyakki!
Hyakki’s origins were mysterious, his body marred, suspected of being a visitor from another world—precious material Bai Lan wanted to study. Unfortunately, Hyakki lived in Japan and was under Dazai’s protection, making it impossible for him to approach.
With a joyful smile, the white-haired youth thought of this and hung up the call after a minute.
“Hello, I’m Bai Lan. What can I do for you, sir?”
Please, tell me.
The secrets behind this world.
In Yokohama, Japan, Dazai quickly reconciled with Hyakki upon recognizing that “Dororo” was him. He had no way to keep Hyakki from showing up at the Mafia headquarters at the port every day. After the clinic reopened, new problems emerged—Hyakki’s prosthetic spine could no longer keep up with his body’s growth!
Dazai consulted Mr. Mori, a graduate of the University of Tokyo Medical School. Dr. Mori gave a clear answer: “Dazai, there’s no issue with the limbs’ prosthetics; at most, they reduce Hyakki’s combat effectiveness slightly. We can find the best sculptors for the mask. The problem lies with the spine.”
“To be honest with you, Hyakki’s spine uses a technology I can’t understand. It’s beyond replication, beyond the ordinary. Unless you find a new replacement, he’ll have to rely on illusions to survive.”
Reality is cruel, unmoved by human will.
Even though Hyakki has surpassed human limits, possessing survival abilities that defy medical miracles, he’s still human, needing an organ to support him, to stand straight and tall in this world.
Dazai could accept illusions before, but now he can’t. He often interacts with Hyakki; “No Longer Human” could take effect at any moment, dispelling illusions. Without the aid of illusions, Hyakki reveals the prototype of his prosthetics, losing skin and tongue, feeling a disconnection between his spine and body.
Fuuta’s ranking became a new hope.
Under the possibility of being renamed, the identities of the three individuals were investigated by the leader of the Mafia at the port.
The most uniquely known identity is Bai Lan, heir to a small Italian Mafia family, fifteen years old, studying at the Mafia Academy. Next is the genius Kusuo Saiki, who skipped grades to study at Cambridge in England, eighteen years old, reputedly with an IQ of 218; surprisingly, the top-ranked Sakata Kusuo has disappeared, sixteen years old, with an ordinary identity, just a current Japanese high school student.
Kusuo Saiki and Kusuo Kano are brothers, registered in Japan, which isn’t hard to investigate. The only trouble is that Kusuo Saiki is very difficult to contact, protected in England without any ties to the Mafia.
In a pinch, Dazai chose to contact the third-ranked Bai Lan. Bai Lan’s feigned ignorance disappointed Dazai and raised suspicions about his hidden abilities.
“Regardless, Bai Lan agreed to visit Yokohama in August.”
Dazai added the Italian teenager’s number to his contacts, paying the price misunderstood by Hyakki to regain contact after defeating GSS.
To be or not to be, he’ll decide after meeting the other!
Later, in order to move back into the clinic for residency, Dazai cleaned inside and outside the clinic, exhausted.
God knows how long it’s been since he did housework!
Hyakki wanted to help too, but Dazai handed him a rag and chased him to clean the floor. With both of them working together diligently, the clinic finally returned to its neatness before Dazai disturbed it.
Not only that, Dazai also found many hidden discs and videotapes, his face strangely convinced that Mr. Mori had spared nothing in teaching him. He randomly picked up a disc to watch, only to find that its content was all R18-rated…
