Chapter 4: I’m Going to See Qin Lie!
“Good, good, good, Qin Muhan, you really deserve to die!!”
An Minghua stared at Xie Yutang, who was dressed in a white dress with a gentle and soft smile on her face. The sunlight fell upon her, seemingly casting a soft glow around her—just like the image of a white moonlight beauty.
A woman this beautiful, and that scumbag Qin Muhan still had the heart to torment her?
Even her character in the book—what a fool! She had also hurt such a stunning woman for the sake of a trashy man!
Wasn’t her character in the book a total looks fanatic? Didn’t she have a thing for beauty?
“Minghua!”
Just as she was cursing Qin Muhan in her head, wanting to slap him silly, the man himself came running over in large strides.
His eyes immediately landed on Xie Yutang. But the moment she looked at him, his expression changed at lightning speed into one of cold indifference and disgust.
“Mianmian said you’ve been out all morning. I thought something happened to you! You scared me to death! Why are you with her?”
An Minghua’s skin crawled at Qin Muhan’s overly gentle tone.
“Why are you with Minghua?”
Qin Muhan turned to Xie Yutang, his emotions shifting seamlessly, his face full of loathing. “You might need to sell your body for information, but Minghua doesn’t. You’re cheap, willingly depraved. Don’t drag Minghua down with you!”
Xie Yutang felt as though a knife had stabbed straight into her heart. She couldn’t believe that, in Qin Muhan’s eyes, this was the kind of woman she was. Just as the sorrow began to rise—
Smack—!
Smack—!
Xie Yutang stared in shock at the scene before her.
An Minghua strode forward, raised her left hand, and slapped Qin Muhan hard across the face. Then, under his look of utter disbelief, she swung her right arm in a full arc and gave him another slap!
She had wanted to slap him yesterday!
At this moment, An Minghua deeply thanked her past self. Back then, thinking she was dreaming, she’d vented her grievances in her dream by acting out like a spoiled young lady. Now, giving him two slaps out of nowhere didn’t even break character.
As expected, Qin Muhan didn’t get angry. He just stood there calmly, the red handprints on his face clearly visible, and looked at An Minghua with a smile.
Minghua might be temperamental, but even her tantrums were selective. She only ever showed that side to one person—his Little Uncle, Qin Lie.
To him, even after Minghua and Little Uncle had been married for four years, she refused to call him “Little Aunt.” and would only address him by name. She had never shown a hint of temper toward him.
He knew—it was because she didn’t care.
But now, did this mean… Minghua cared about him?
Qin Muhan glanced at Xie Yutang beside him. Had she said something to Minghua that made her angry with him?
“Who taught you to speak to a female comrade like that?!”
An Minghua saw the smile on Qin Muhan’s face and felt a chill run through her. What kind of normal person smiled after getting slapped? Did he have some kind of perverted kink?
“Who taught you to mock and humiliate a girl like that? Where’s your manners? As your Little Aunt, I have to teach you some proper behavior today. Otherwise, when you’re out in the world, you’ll only bring shame to your elders!”
An Minghua grabbed a bamboo stick from someone’s doorway and began to thrash Qin Muhan over the head with it.
Xie Yutang stood off to the side, unsure of what to do. She had thought Minghua was Qin Muhan’s girlfriend, but it turned out she was his Little Aunt?
“Minghua, don’t be fooled by her! That woman is the best at lying! She tricked me into a relationship, then dumped me for some engagement in the capital. She’s just a scoundrel!”
Qin Muhan shouted as he dodged the blows.
“So what if she broke up with you! Why don’t you reflect on whether it was you who wasn’t good enough—maybe that’s why she left you! And even if it was for the engagement in the capital, what’s wrong with that? What did she do wrong?
Why don’t you reflect on whether you studied hard enough, whether your personality was gentle enough, whether you were considerate enough to girls?
If you were great in every way, who would even want to break up with you?!”
An Minghua swung the bamboo stick with sharp whooshing sounds, her mouth firing off in a nonstop tirade. At last, she vented all the disgust that had been lingering in her heart ever since she saw that part of the plot.
“Minghua! Calm down!”
Qin Muhan, tall and broad, quickly seized an opportunity to snatch the bamboo stick from An Minghua’s hands and grabbed her wrist.
An Minghua glared at him. “You dare lay a hand on me? Even your Little Uncle wouldn’t dare treat me like this! Just wait till I see your Little Uncle—I’ll make sure he beats the hell out of you!”
“He won’t be able to anymore!”
Qin Muhan let go of An Minghua’s hand. After jumping around dodging her for a while, he was slightly out of breath. Seeing the shocked look in her eyes, something dark and secretive stirred in his heart.
“I heard my parents talking last night. Little Uncle’s seriously injured—he might not survive. Minghua, he won’t be able to protect you anymore. I will.”
Perfect. No need to probe any further—Qin Lie is already critically injured!
At that moment, An Minghua lost all desire to hit anyone. She had no interest in understanding the twisted thoughts of this lunatic. She simply gave him a long, deep look and turned to leave.
“Minghua, where are you going?!”
“To find your father!”
Qin Muhan grabbed her arm. “Minghua, don’t go. Even if you go to the hospital, what can you do besides watch Little Uncle die?”
An Minghua yanked her arm, but couldn’t break free.
Her eyes flashed coldly. She grabbed Qin Muhan’s arm in return, and when he was caught off guard, used a burst of force to throw him clean over her shoulder—slamming him onto the ground!
She followed it up with two hard kicks, then turned to Xie Yutang and snapped:
“Yutang, you were right to break up with him! He was never the right choice!”
Xie Yutang stared at An Minghua’s figure disappearing in the distance, then looked at Qin Muhan, who was still curled up on the ground holding his stomach.
It was as though a thick fog in her mind had suddenly been cleared—everything was now crystal clear.
So this was the kind of vile person Qin Muhan really was.
He actually harbored those kinds of thoughts about his own Little Aunt?
Why had she ever been so hung up on him, so in love with him?
Xie Yutang gave Qin Muhan one final glance of disgust, then turned and walked back into her home. With a loud bang, she slammed the door shut.
—
In the Rail Passenger Section Compound, Qin Zhao had just returned to his office when the phone rang.
He raised his hand to answer—it was a call from Beijing.
Right then, the office door was knocked on. A young woman with ear-length hair stood in the doorway. “Section Chief, there’s a comrade named An Minghua here to see you.”
“Minghua went to you? How is she? Can she handle what happened to Qin Lie—” The elderly voice on the other end of the phone stopped abruptly. “Qin Lie, he—”
“Big Brother!”
An Minghua burst into the office.
“Did something happen to Qin Lie?! Qin Muhan said something happened to him. I want to see him!”
Qin Zhao was stunned. “Minghua… You already know?”
“Big Brother, where is he? I’m going to see him.”
“Dad, it’s Minghua.” Qin Zhao said into the phone, but the receiver was swiftly snatched out of his hand by An Minghua.
“Dad, I want to see Qin Lie!”
“Minghua…”
With just that gentle call of her name, An Minghua felt as if she had suffered a grief too heavy to bear. Her tears fell uncontrollably, streaming down her cheeks as she sobbed with pent-up sorrow.
“Dad… Where is he?”
“In Guangcheng.” said the old man—who usually spoke with a booming voice to everyone else, but always softened his tone when it came to An Minghua. “I’ll have your brother arrange everything. Don’t cry, Minghua. That rascal Qin Lie—if he knows you’re coming, he won’t have the heart to die.”
Qin Zhao had watched An Minghua grow up. Seeing her cry like that, he sighed.
“The earliest bus to Guangcheng is at six tomorrow morning. Minghua, go home first and pack your things.”
“Big Brother, I’ll pack after I get the ticket! Oh—and I bought a ticket to Hengshi earlier today. Big Brother, help me return it!”
