After uttering the words, “I’ll teach you,” Xuan Yuansheng felt quite good about himself.
In the interstellar era, there were not as many strict rules as in the ancient martial arts era. Hand-to-hand combat was not restricted by sects; as long as there was a good teacher willing to teach, anyone could learn.
Xuan Yuansheng learned not only swordsmanship from his teacher Guang Wu Ran but also a set of Kyokushin Karate.
For such good things, he wouldn’t bother teaching others if they asked. But if a new friend wanted to learn, that was a different story—he would be more than willing to teach!
“Sure.” Yuan Hanshuang agreed happily.
Xuan Yuansheng was immersed in excitement, completely oblivious to the shocked expressions of Wu Haoxuan and Ke Junda beside him.
If he had noticed, perhaps his future would have been a bit better.
Unfortunately, there were no “ifs.”
The second week’s schedule was simple—three days of cold weapon training and three days of hand-to-hand combat training.
After lining up, Niu Hu demonstrated a basic military body boxing for them.
“This military body boxing is called Seven-Colored Sunshine, divided into three stages: junior, intermediate, and senior. This year, I will be your instructor for the intermediate combat class, and the end-of-term assessment standard is to perform the entire set of intermediate military body boxing.”
Unlike cold weapons, everyone present, including auxiliary majors, had a foundation in hand-to-hand combat. After all, the martial virtues of the interstellar people were abundant, and the junior college offered combat classes. Even an old man on the street could throw a few punches.
After watching the instructor’s demonstration, Wu Haoxuan whispered, “This boxing technique is much worse than what the boss taught us.”
“Of course.” Ke Junda glanced at him, “What the boss taught us is genuine ancient martial arts. Do you know how expensive a set of ancient martial arts techniques is on the market now?”
“I know, I know. That Gu Dong this morning quoted five million.” Wu Haoxuan sighed, “I don’t know why the boss is unwilling to sell. If it were me, not to mention five million, I would be willing to pay a million just to learn.”
While they were talking, Instructor Niu divided the freshmen into pairs for sparring.
Xuan Yuansheng skillfully approached Yuan Hanshuang.
While moving his knees in place, he lowered his voice, “Just take a look at the military body boxing the instructor demonstrated. This basic boxing technique is taught throughout the interstellar, and its combat effectiveness is just so-so. Wait until you go through advanced combat classes and choose more detailed hand-to-hand combat, such as ancient martial arts and Jujitsu, Muay Thai, and Ma Jia art—they are all better than this military body boxing.”
“Of course.” He stood in place, assuming a stance, “My Kyokushin Karate is quite good.”
In self-praise, Xuan Yuansheng was always professional.
“Let me demonstrate it to you first.”
Yuan Hanshuang remained silent, silently watching his performance.
Although martial arts were not as prominent in the interstellar era, various modern combat styles flourished, incorporating breakthrough ideas. She had experienced this while working in the black market.
The fact proved that Xuan Yuansheng, a young S-rank genius, indeed had skill in Close combat. His movements were fluid, and the transitions were seamless. If there were belts in interstellar karate, he would surely have a black belt.
Not only did he practice swordsmanship for ten years, but he also had a decade of experience in Close combat.
For someone of his age and background, being able to focus on practicing was indeed rare.
While Xuan Yuansheng was fighting over there, Yuan Hanshuang was here in her mind, memorizing moves and identifying weaknesses.
She was thinking about how to fight to expose Xuan Yuanshengs’s weaknesses but ensure that he didn’t lose that badly.
“Done.”
Xuan Yuansheng stopped panting and struck a pose, feeling quite handsome even after the workout.
Running his fingers through his sweat-drenched golden hair, he said, “Come on, let me show you some moves. I’ll break down the techniques for you.”
Thanks to the excellent external genetic factors in the royal bloodline, this gesture only made him look flashy rather than greasy.
“Sure.” Yuan Hanshuang unfolded her starting stance right there.
“Not bad. Your starting stance is very standard.”
Xuan Yuansheng, intending to give some pointers, strolled over with hands behind his back. However, she presented the exact starting stance he had just used in Kyokushin Karate. The posture was flawless, and there was no room for criticism. He couldn’t help but be stunned for a moment.
Fortunately, the starting stance was something passable; some master-level combat instructors even created eccentric starting stances. Xuan Yuansheng didn’t mind, thinking that Yuan Hanshuang must have encountered it before.
“The first move is—”
Before he could finish speaking, Yuan Hanshuang executed the first move.
After completing the first move, a straight punch, she quickly followed with a high kick for the second move. The movements were standard, graceful, and extremely smooth—nothing like a beginner who had just started learning hand-to-hand combat.
Xuan Yuansheng was greatly impressed. “I only demonstrated it once. Did you remember all of it?”
“Yeah.” Yuan Hanshuang rubbed her wrist. “It’s quite simple, not difficult.”
If it were someone else, Xuan Yuansheng might have thought it was mockery. However, the person in front of him was not only his new friend but also maintained a calm expression and a relaxed tone, showing no signs of boasting—almost as if stating a simple fact.
Is it really that simple?
Xuan Yuansheng, who had practiced Kyokushin Karate for many years, couldn’t help but doubt life.
Due to the distant memory, he had forgotten how long it took for him to memorize this set of techniques for the first time. However, S-rank manifestation also enhanced memory, and simply memorizing moves wasn’t difficult.
In theory, there was no problem, but suddenly, a sense of impending doom surged in Xuan Yuansheng’s heart.
Thinking of the recent swordsmanship duel, he felt a faint phantom pain on his face, on guard as he said, “It won’t be like swordsmanship, right? Have you learned karate before?”
“Karate? Never learned.” Yuan Hanshuang answered honestly. “This is my first time.”
There were so many schools of Close combat, and she specialized in boxing, having never encountered karate.
“Good.”
Xuan Yuansheng instinctively breathed a sigh of relief.
He decided not to give detailed guidance on moves and stood directly opposite her. “Why not engage in a real fight? Hand-to-hand combat without practical application is just for show. Only through real combat can you gain more experience.”
“Or you can attack first, and I’ll defend.”
Yuan Han Shuang: 😐
Yuan Hanshuang: “Have you ever felt like this scene is familiar?”
“It does seem a bit familiar.” Xuan Yuansheng didn’t pay much attention. He demonstrated the straight punch again and briefly explained the characteristics of its force. “Come on, face me and use this first move, the straight punch.”
As it turns out, some people just don’t learn from their lessons and always manage to come back for more.
Wu Haoxuan, who was observing the situation closely while enjoying the show, couldn’t help but cover his face.
Even though Ke Junda had just beaten him up during their duel, it didn’t stop Wu Haoxuan from wanting to root for Xuan Yuansheng now.
“Is it the straight punch?” Yuan Hanshuang gestured, “Are you sure you want me to use it against you?”
“Hold on for a moment.”
