Soon, amidst the hustle and bustle, the second week of training in cold weapons and hand-to-hand combat came to an end.
On the first day of the third week, Feng Bai made an announcement that captured everyone’s attention.
“Today, let’s talk about the assessment goals for the fourth week.”
The assessment goals were linked to the students, and only half of them would pass. Involving the most important aspect of their student days, no one dared to be inattentive, and all focused intently on the lecture.
Observing the new students in their standard military posture and with eager eyes, Feng Bai showed satisfaction on his face.
“Even though the instructors treated all departments equally in the first two weeks of military training, considering that you are just a group of new recruits, dividing based solely on physical strength and combat skills may be biased.”
“Therefore, after discussions among all the instructors, we have decided to set the assessment mode for the fourth week as a joint inter-school competition between the two batches of new students.”
Wu Haoxuan muttered, “Finally remembered our poor support department. Took them two weeks of hell to realize it. Truly, it’s like scratching your butt with a small knife, opening your eyes.”
As he muttered, he suddenly noticed a silence around him.
Even the voice of the overall instructor, Feng Bai, was gone.
Wu Haoxuan suddenly felt a sense of unease.
Just as he was about to sneak a glance at Ke Junda to see why he wasn’t responding, a gentle voice came from above him.
“Scratching your butt with a small knife, opening your eyes, huh?”
The adjutant stood in front of him, revealing a friendly smile.
Sunlight reflected from behind him, casting a gaze on the frames of his glasses, resembling the stare of the Grim Reaper.
Although Wu Haoxuan had a passive skill of not being noticed, it was useless against highly talented individuals. Ke Junda beside him seemed utterly indifferent.
Clearly aware that the overall instructor’s manifestation was that of a shadowy and elusive cat, with his terrifying auditory amplification ability reaching an astonishing level, this fool dared to gossip openly in front of everyone? Truly, he must be tired of living.
“Today, I’ll let you open your eyes too. Three hundred push-ups, go.”
Watching Wu Haoxuan obediently doing push-ups in public, without daring to voice his displeasure, Feng Bai snorted and continued his explanation, “The joint inter-school competition is organized by academy groups, divided into the Silver Star Group and the Empire Group.”
“After the start, each group will be given a badge. Those wearing the badge will have a floating nameplate above their heads and the badge owner’s location displayed on the star net.”
“The task for each group is to snatch the badge from the other academy. As soon as a group snatches the badge, the joint inter-school competition is immediately declared over. The group that obtains the badge will earn military training credits for all students. Conversely, the other group will need to participate in a second round of military training next year to make up for the credits.”
“Of course, in addition to snatching the badge, a group that eliminates five hundred students from the opposing side can also achieve victory in advance. So, don’t focus solely on the badge; this is a collective participation activity.”
As the rules were announced halfway, the eyes of students from both groups flashed with excitement, and the spirit of battle surged on the playground.
As early as the first week of physical training, the Silver Star freshmen and the Empire freshmen continued the excellent tradition of countless senior brothers and sisters, forming an indelible feud.
During the second week of cold weapons and combat training, the training was conducted in pairs within each group. Xuan Yuansheng went to find Empire troops.
Engaged in a school brawl, Wu Haoxuan was also punished with five hundred push-ups by the instructors. The grudges between students from the two schools had nowhere to vent and had long been unbearable.
Now, hearing that winning the final assessment would make the opposing side collectively lose credits, everyone exclaimed, “Is there such a good thing? We must show the Empire/Silver Star how formidable we are!”
Seeing the eager anticipation of the students, Feng Bao adjusted his golden-rimmed glasses and said, “To fairly allocate combat resources and enhance competitiveness, seniors will serve as badge wearers.”
“Each group can invite a senior brother or sister as the badge wearer, but the conditions are strict. They can only summon a manifestation, cannot use resonance, cannot eliminate the enemy, and must stay fixed in one place unless someone tries to snatch the badge, then they can counterattack.”
The conditions were undoubtedly stringent.
Xuan Yuansheng fell into contemplation first.
As the imperial grandson, he had undergone various educations since childhood, including imperial studies and military strategy, making his perspective much broader than that of ordinary freshmen. The moment the instructor announced the rules, he sensed the complexity behind them.
While it seemed like a simple inter-school competition, each rule revealed intricate details. Questions such as the allocation of combat resources, how to protect students from departments with slightly weaker physical abilities, and how to deploy the assault teams all became matters that required careful consideration.
“For the next week and a bit, there are no other military training tasks scheduled. The time is set for the weekend of the fourth week. You can prepare well for the joint inter-school competition,” the instructor announced.
Afterward, the instructor declared the dismissal.
After the dismissal, Yuan Hanshuang, holding a light sword, continued to exercise under the shade of a nearby tree. Occasionally, she would give advice to the two juniors practicing Close combat beside her.
Sword practice could be quite tedious. Even with the advancement to light swords, the routine of swinging and chopping a few sets remained the same in daily basic training, with, at most, an additional psychic power output exercise.
On the other side, Xuan Yuansheng, surrounded by a crowd, was at a loss for ideas.
Immediately after the dismissal, Silver Star freshmen swarmed around him.
“Xuan Yuansheng, how should we handle the joint inter-school competition?”
“The instructor mentioned inviting senior brothers and sisters. Whom should we invite?”
