The next two days were nothing short of hell for the Wei family!
First, Wei Yuxian’s father was inexplicably fired from his job without even receiving his salary for the month. Moreover, on his way home one evening, he was brutally beaten by a group of thugs, leaving him with a limp.
At school, Wei Yuxian’s elder brother, Wei Da, was also beaten severely after being caught stealing money and was subsequently sent to the police station.
The cause of the incident was that Wei Da’s girlfriend had been pestering him to buy her a handbag as an apology, but he simply didn’t have the money. Unable to get any from his family, he resorted to theft.
Unfortunately for him, he was caught red-handed by his roommate while attempting to steal, and was immediately beaten by several of them before being taken to the police station.
The amount Wei Da stole was not small, nearly ten thousand yuan, and with the influence of the Fu family, spending three years in prison was not out of the question.
No one could predict what his life would be like after his release, but one thing was certain: he would live in suffering for the rest of his life.
Then there was Wei Er, who did poorly in school and spent his days with a group of delinquents. Somehow, he managed to offend the local boss, and after a fierce confrontation, he was sent to the hospital, his fate uncertain.
These were the outcomes for the remaining three members of the Wei family, and all of this happened within just two days.
There were coincidences at play, as well as deliberate actions.
Guan Jinyou had simply skillfully exploited some coincidences to make those people’s lives even worse.
With these matters resolved, he could finally report back to Fu Xuanyi.
Three days had passed since their last meeting, and both Guan Jinyou and Lu Chengxiao had completed their tasks well.
On this day, Fu Xuanyi summoned the two of them to his study once again to inquire about their progress. After understanding the full situation, he was satisfied with their efficiency and the quality of their work.
Guan Jinyou had other work to attend to, so after spending half an hour in the study, he left.
Lu Chengxiao, on the other hand, was incredibly relaxed. Lounging in Fu Xuanyi’s study with one leg crossed, he said, “Master Xuanyi, why don’t you let me meet the lady of the house? I’ve been here twice now and haven’t seen her yet. That’s just not right.”
Fu Xuanyi glanced at him and said, “There will be a time for you to meet her.”
Lu Chengxiao was not satisfied with his answer and pouted, asking, “But when exactly is that? You’re not going to make me wait until I’m old and gray, are you?”
Fu Xuanyi replied coldly with just two words: “Soon.”
Lu Chengxiao expressed his disbelief, saying, “Why can’t you just let me see the madam for a moment? Can’t I just take a quick look from a distance?”
Fu Xuanyi’s expression remained cold and indifferent as he refused: “No.”
Lu Chengxiao was speechless. “Master Xuanyi is so stingy!”
However, he didn’t dare to say that out loud, only muttering it to himself secretly, afraid that if he said it aloud, he might not see the sunrise tomorrow.
“Goodbye,” Fu Xuanyi uttered two more words, indicating that it was time for Lu Chengxiao to leave.
Lu Chengxiao didn’t want to go. His butt was firmly glued to the chair, and he crossed his arms over his chest, acting like a spoiled child as he said, “If you don’t let me meet the madam today, I won’t leave.”
Fu Xuanyi looked at him for a moment, his face still devoid of expression. He simply stood up, left a “Suit yourself,” and exited the study.
Lu Chengxiao was left alone in the vast study.
“Huh?!” Lu Chengxiao exclaimed.
He quickly got up and followed closely behind Fu Xuanyi, asking, “Master Xuanyi, are you going to see the madam? I’ll come with you!”
Fu Xuanyi remained silent, walking ahead.
He was indeed going to find her to discuss something with her.
As for the tagalong behind him, since he couldn’t be shooed away, Fu Xuanyi had no choice but to let him follow.
At that moment, Wei Yuxian was in the living room watching TV. She had just woken up from her afternoon nap, feeling fully refreshed. In front of her was a plate of freshly cut fruit, all of which were her favorites.
When Fu Xuanyi approached, she was engrossed in the TV show.
Back in her old home, she rarely had the chance to watch TV. She was either doing chores or studying, with no time to spare for television. Even if she had a moment to herself, the TV was usually monopolized by her brothers.
As a result, over the years, she had seen very few TV dramas and had very little time for entertainment.
Now, living in the Fu mansion, she had nothing to do, spending her days either bored or extremely bored. With her recent troubles resolved and her mood improved, she turned to watching TV. She hadn’t expected to get so hooked.
TV dramas were a novelty to her, and for the foreseeable future, they would hold her interest.
She was so engrossed that she didn’t even notice Fu Xuanyi approaching until he sat down beside her.
She turned her head to glance at the person next to her, called out “Ah Xuan,” and then turned her head back to continue watching TV.
The show was at an exciting part, and she didn’t want to miss it.
Lu Chengxiao sat on the adjacent sofa and finally met the madam he had been longing to see. Watching her focus intently on the TV, he couldn’t help but think…
The madam is really adorable!
So much more adorable than in the photos!
Lu Chengxiao felt like he had hit the jackpot today!
Even Guan Jinyou hadn’t met the lady yet, and he got to meet her first!
Woohoo!

I’m Lu Chengxiao, one of master Xuanyi’s men.”
Hearing the voice, Wei Yuxian realized that besides Fu Xuanyi, there was another unfamiliar face in the living room.
She turned her head to look and saw Lu Chengxiao’s face. Her first impression was that he seemed very lively and carefree, giving off the impression of being a bit brainless.
It wasn’t that she was insulting Lu Chengxiao; it was just that his current image was like that—grinning widely, showing off his big white teeth, and laughing in a silly, good-natured way.
Indeed, he seemed a bit lacking in brains.
Wei Yuxian widened her eyes and said, “Hello.”
This person was Fu Xuanyi’s subordinate, but what exactly he did, Wei Yuxian didn’t know, nor did she have the inclination to find out.
It was better for her to stay out of Fu Xuanyi’s affairs; they weren’t her place to meddle in.
She merely greeted him politely, smiled at him, and then returned to watching TV.
Indeed, neither Fu Xuanyi nor Lu Chengxiao was as important as the TV drama.
Then she wondered if Fu Xuanyi was going to discuss something with this subordinate. Would it be inappropriate for her to stay there?
Should she move to another spot to watch?
As she was pondering, she didn’t notice the “interaction” between the two men beside her.
Fu Xuanyi saw the smile on Wei Yuxian’s face and felt quite pleased, but the moment he realized that this smile wasn’t for him but for another man, his mood soured.
He looked at Lu Chengxiao with a cold face, not saying a word, exuding a sense of intimidation.
Lu Chengxiao met his gaze for a moment before guiltily averting his eyes.
Xuan Ye’s expression was terrifying!
It was as if he was saying: “Done looking? Then get lost!”
So domineering!

↑1 | In the context provided, “an AK” likely refers to the AK-47, a well-known assault rifle. The phrase “His smile was harder to suppress than an AK” uses the image of an AK-47, which is known for its reliability and the ease with which it can be fired, to metaphorically describe Lu Chengxiao’s difficulty in containing his smile. It suggests that his smile is as hard to control as the automatic fire of an AK-47. This is a creative and somewhat exaggerated way to convey the idea that Lu Chengxiao is struggling to suppress his laughter or excitement. |
