Lu Chengxiao led the two into the house, where they found it quite spacious with not many items inside.
“Master Xuanyi, Madam, please have a seat,” Lu Chengxiao said, patting the sofa to clean it off before inviting them to sit.
After Wei Yuxian and Fu Xuanyi sat down, Lu Chengxiao instructed his subordinates to bring tea, the finest kind, the sort that Master Xuanyi had bestowed upon them.
Outside the door, the burly men had not left. They were peeking in from the entrance, not looking at Fu Xuanyi, but only at Wei Yuxian.
“Oh my, it’s the new madam! Oh my, oh my!”
“Master Xuanyi and the others can be seen more often, but the madam is a rare sight!”
“Who knows, after this time, they might not see the madam again! So, everyone is straining their necks to get a look.”
Because of this, they almost started fighting, just to get a better spot to watch.
The commotion outside wasn’t small. Wei Yuxian secretly glanced over and saw the burly men looking comically exaggerated, suddenly feeling that they weren’t so scary, but rather quite adorable.
However, someone was not happy. So many people watching his darling was truly displeasing.
Unbeknownst to her, the jealous Master Xuanyi shot a sharp glance over, causing the burly men outside to stiffen and scramble away in a hurry.
Wei Yuxian lowered her head and laughed, finding the group quite amusing and completely mismatched with their intimidating appearances.
Soon, the tea arrived. Lu Chengxiao personally poured tea for them and sat down across from them, smiling warmly at Wei Yuxian.
Finally, he could smile. Holding it back earlier had been torturous for him.
“Madam, do you remember me? I’m Lu Chengxiao.”
Although they had met just yesterday, Lu Chengxiao still worried that the madam might not remember him, which would make him very sad!
Of course, Wei Yuxian remembered him. Her memory wasn’t so poor as to forget someone she had met only the day before.
“Yes, I remember.”
Lu Chengxiao was the one in charge of things here for Fu Xuanyi. She didn’t expect that someone who smiled so foolishly could be so capable.
Indeed, one shouldn’t judge by appearances, just like those burly men earlier. They looked fierce but were actually quite adorable.
Wei Yuxian had no idea that these men only behaved this way in front of her. With someone else, who knows how intimidating they might be!
Take her mother, Mrs. Wei, and Ding Nana, for example. They had been tormented by these men to the point of being unrecognizable over the past couple of days!
Wei Yuxian smiled, picked up the teacup, blew on it gently, and took a small sip. Finding the temperature just right, she drank half the cup in one go, thinking it tasted quite good.
Fu Xuanyi gave Lu Chengxiao a look, and the latter immediately understood. “I’ll bring them up right away.”
He gestured to his subordinates to bring the people up.
The subordinates quickly responded, dragging out four people with disheveled hair from who knows where and bringing them to the front of the sofa.
The four were relatively clean, but their bodies were battered and bruised, looking rather terrifying.
This was per Lu Chengxiao’s special instructions: to clean them up a bit before bringing them in, so the smell wouldn’t be too overpowering.
Now, while the other smells were gone, the stench of blood was impossible to mask.
The four people were still unconscious, being dragged up without waking. Who knows how much they had suffered over the past few days.
Seeing their wretched state, Wei Yuxian felt a complex mix of emotions. The people who once spoke harshly to her and bullied her now lay on the ground like corpses.
She could still recall how these individuals once stood on their high moral ground, berating her with such arrogance and vigor.
The stark contrast between their past arrogance and their current state was glaring.
Wei Yuxian’s emotions were complex, but devoid of any pity. They deserved this! They committed wrongdoings and facing punishment was only just.
The stench of blood wafted through the air, reaching Wei Yuxian’s nose. The nauseating and pungent smell triggered her gag reflex, and she immediately began retching.
She leaned over a trash can, waves of discomfort washing over her, but nothing came up.
To be honest, seeing them like this still frightened her a bit. Their faces were swollen beyond recognition, and the exposed skin was battered and bruised, looking horrifying.
She couldn’t imagine what they had gone through.
Then, she thought about how painful it would be if this had happened to her.
Fu Xuanyi, tense and concerned, gently patted her back, casting a cold glare at Lu Chengxiao.
Realizing his grave mistake, Lu Chengxiao quickly ordered, “You all, take them farther away! Don’t let the smell reach the madam!”
He had completely forgotten that the madam was pregnant and couldn’t stand the slightest hint of blood!
The subordinates moved quickly, dragging the people farther away, their faces tense as they watched Wei Yuxian, fearing something might happen to her.
Oh no! They hadn’t realized the madam would be so sensitive to the smell! They had tried their best to mask the blood scent, but it still reached her!
If anything happened to the madam, they might have to atone with their lives!
The madam was carrying Master Xuanyi’s child, and given how difficult it was for master Xuanyi to have an heir, nothing could be allowed to go wrong!
Everyone watched Wei Yuxian nervously, not daring to breathe.
Wei Yuxian retched for a while, and only when she could no longer smell the blood did she start to feel better. She stopped retching, her face pale.
Fu Xuanyi quickly handed her a cup of tea, urging her to take a few sips to calm down.
Wei Yuxian took the tea and drank, feeling much better. Meeting Fu Xuanyi’s worried gaze, she softly and weakly said, “I’m okay.”
Seeing her pale face, Fu Xuanyi don’t believe she was fine. With a stern expression, he said, “Let’s go back.”
Clearly, they couldn’t rush things. They had only just arrived and she was already frightened.
They needed to take things step by step, starting with small matters.
Wei Yuxian shook her head. “I’m really okay. We’re already here. It was just the smell of blood that made me react like that. As long as I don’t smell it, I’m fine.”
“Can you manage?” Fu Xuanyi asked, still concerned, looking deeply into her eyes.
If there was even a hint of hesitation in her eyes, he wouldn’t hesitate to take her away immediately!
Wei Yuxian replied, “Yes, I can.”
After speaking, she took another sip of tea, feeling the warmth spread through her stomach, which was quite comforting.
Fu Xuanyi could only hold her by the waist, half-embracing her, and said, “Don’t push yourself.”
Wei Yuxian felt a bit shy, being held in his arms in front of so many people. How embarrassing!
She wriggled, trying to free herself from his embrace, whispering, “There are so many people.”
Fu Xuanyi refused to let go, saying, “It’s okay.”
