Fu Xuanyi withdrew his gaze, too lazy to glance at the mess, and looked down at the person in his arms, observing her facial expression.
Wei Yuxian tightly pursed her lips, her face still somewhat pale, but her eyes were resolute, coldly staring at her mother.
Her hands clenched tightly, forming fists, with a hint of feigned strength.
Faced with her mother’s oppression over the years, she still felt somewhat fearful, even though her mother’s current situation was so pathetic. There was still some lingering fear in her heart.
This was subconscious, something that couldn’t be erased in an instant.
Fu Xuanyi noticed her hands trembling slightly, one hand around her waist, offering support, while the other held her small fist, patting it silently, telling her without words: Don’t be afraid.
Wei Yuxian turned to look at his face, which was so indifferent, yet it gave her an unparalleled sense of security.
He was giving her courage, telling her not to be afraid.
He was also telling her that he was her backing!
With Fu Xuanyi as her support, Wei Yuxian could fear nothing!
She admitted that Fu Xuanyi’s support worked. Her hands stopped trembling, her lips relaxed, and her tense body eased.
She leaned back, leaning against Fu Xuanyi’s body, enveloped in the man’s broad embrace, feeling utterly secure.
Wei Yuxian, don’t be afraid. These people can no longer harm you. From this moment on, you are the one controlling their destiny!
Wei Yuxian’s mother’s wails echoed through the house, so pitiful.
But not a single person present felt any pity for her.
Ding Nana and her companions remained silent, quietly diminishing their presence, fearing the man’s attention.
They didn’t want to end up like Wei Yuxian’s mother, subjected to torture!
Wei Yuxian’s mother couldn’t bear the pain anymore. She felt her face couldn’t swell any further, and she quickly begged Wei Yuxian for mercy, saying, “Yuxian, mom—mom was wrong! Mom shouldn’t have… treated you like that… Mom is in so much pain… Please make him stop…”
She pleaded intermittently while enduring the beatings, hoping Wei Yuxian would soften her heart and make the man stop.
Her mind was still clear, knowing whom to plead to.
The root cause of the incident was Wei Yuxian, so she had to ask Wei Yuxian to intervene. As long as Wei Yuxian spoke up, the man would cease!
In order to spare herself from further suffering, she bowed to Wei Yuxian, as if she, who had always been oppressive, was bowing to her!
Wei Yuxian listened to her words without any emotional response. The term “money-losing girl” echoed in her ears!
Who enjoys being called such names by others? She wasn’t that cheap!
Moreover, these beatings were ordered by Fu Xuanyi. What good would it do if she pleaded? These people belonged to Fu Xuanyi, so if anyone were to be begged, it should be Fu Xuanyi.
Pleading with her was useless!
After a while, Fu Xuanyi finally ordered the beating to stop. Mrs. Wei was full of tears, with blood flowing from the corners of her mouth, looking nothing like herself.
“Yuxian… Mom knows she was wrong. Mom shouldn’t have treated you like this… Could you please ask… this gentleman to spare Mom? Mom will definitely treat you well in the future! Mom promises! Mom will return all your money. Please let Mom go?”
She begged Wei Yuxian in a low, submissive voice, pleading with her with pleading eyes, appearing genuinely sincere.
But who knows what’s really in her heart, and whether she truly regrets her actions.
Fu Xuanyi whispered in Wei Yuxian’s ear, “Feeling better now, my dear?”
Wei Yuxian thought for a moment and nodded. Indeed, she felt much better, and her heart was more at ease.
Fu Xuanyi asked again, “How do you want to handle this? Keep her, or let her go?”
Wei Yuxian didn’t immediately answer him. “I need to think about it,” she said.
Fu Xuanyi wasn’t in a rush for her to make a decision. He simply responded, “Alright, take your time. Whatever you decide.”
Those few words granted her immense power.
Wei Yuxian took her time to think carefully. She looked at her mother, noticing the severe puncture wounds on her hands.
If her mother stayed here, she would continue to endure physical pain. But if she were released, she would face double the suffering both physically and mentally.
Sometimes, living itself can be the greatest torment.
Just as Wei Yuxian was deep in thought, Fu Xuanyi pulled out his phone and opened some files, holding it up for her to see. “Take a look,” he said.
Puzzled, Wei Yuxian took the phone and began to read. Within two minutes, she had finished, her face a mask of shock as she looked at Fu Xuanyi, hardly able to believe what she saw.
What Fu Xuanyi showed her was the downfall of the Wei, Ding, Feng, and Chen families. None of them had met a good end.
The Wei family, in particular, had members imprisoned and others crippled.
She had no idea that in just two days, Fu Xuanyi had managed to accomplish so much.
She thought he had only punished the four people in front of her. She never expected that he had also dealt with the people behind them.
Fu Xuanyi gently patted her head and said, “Wildfires can’t destroy the grass; with spring winds, it grows again. To truly eliminate a problem, you must uproot it.”
Wei Yuxian understood this principle well. Who knew what the future might hold? Uprooting the problem was the best course of action.
Yet, she remained astounded by Fu Xuanyi’s ruthlessness and decisiveness.
Moreover, his power was truly formidable.
The Wei family was far from the capital, yet he had managed to deal with them swiftly. His influence was terrifying.
No wonder people said he was a brutal and ruthless figure!
Seeing her dazed expression, Fu Xuanyi thought she might be scared and asked, “Are you afraid?”
Wei Yuxian was unsure whether to nod or shake her head. If she said she was scared, it was true—Fu Xuanyi’s power was indeed terrifying, and what she had glimpsed was likely just the tip of the iceberg.
But if she said she wasn’t afraid, it wouldn’t be entirely accurate either. Fu Xuanyi had done all of this for her, to avenge her and ensure that those who had wronged her met a miserable end.
He hadn’t told her anything yet had done so much behind the scenes. If she admitted to being scared, wouldn’t that be a bit hurtful?
Despite his cold exterior, his actions were heartwarmingly considerate.
She gently shook her head and said, “No, I’m not afraid.”
She wasn’t afraid of Fu Xuanyi anymore because she knew this man would never harm her.
Even though he could be a bit overbearing at times, his actions were genuinely in her best interest.
In this world, no one else had ever considered her well-being as much as he did. He could be considered the only person who truly cared for her.
Wei Yuxian’s heart felt incredibly warm. Her nose tingled, and she felt a surge of emotions, on the verge of tears.
So this is what it feels like to be cared for, to be loved…
This feeling was simply too wonderful—it could become addictive.
Tears streamed down her face without her realizing it. They weren’t tears of fear or sadness, but rather, tears because someone had finally warmed her scarred and battered heart.
