Chapter 12 – From a Third Person’s Perspective: How Did Your Eldest Sister-in-law Treat Your Eldest Brother?
“Hey, Shiyuan.”
So, she was Fu Shiyuan’s wife. No wonder she was so elegant and poised. That must mean the middle-aged man and the young girl on the sofa were Fu Shiyuan’s father and sister?
The little girl was truly beautiful—indeed, the entire Male Lead’s family had stunning looks!
The girl on the sofa stood up and greeted Fu Shiyuan and Qiao Yanyan politely: “Big Brother, Eldest Sister-in-law.”
Fu Shiyuan waved back warmly: “Siya, long time no see.”
“Yes, Big Brother, I’ve missed you.”
Suddenly, Qiao Yanyan’s hand was grasped by the older woman, her eyes full of smiles. “Yanyan, just got up with Shiyuan?”
Qiao Yanyan nodded and called out somewhat unnaturally: “Mm, Mom…”
“Ah! You must be hungry? It’s getting late, let’s go to the dining room for a meal.”
And just like that, Qiao Yanyan was pulled toward the dining room by Li Wanjun.
“Yanyan, I heard you two only got home and went to bed around 3 a.m. this morning. Did you get enough sleep?”
“I did.” Qiao Yanyan responded to her mother-in-law’s enthusiasm as best she could.
“If not, just nap again after eating.”
“I’ve slept well, there’s no need.”
“Alright, then after we eat, I’ll give you a little gift.”
“Thank you, Mom.”
“No need to thank me. You haven’t seen the gift yet—you might not even like it.”
Behind them, Fu Siya clung to Fu Shiyuan’s arm and whispered: “Big Brother, how do you feel after getting married? How’s Eldest Sister-in-law treating you?”
He also replied in a low voice: “Very good. I really like my wife.”
“That’s great. Seems like Eldest Sister-in-law treats you well.”
“Yeah, Wife treats me very well.”
When they arrived at the dining room, Li Wanjun instructed Butler Wang to serve the dishes!
One after another, a total of ten dishes were brought out.
“Let’s eat, it’s already noon. Yanyan, Shiyuan, you two haven’t had breakfast yet—hurry and eat, don’t go hungry.” said Li Wanjun.
Fu Shiyuan, ever the gentleman, picked up food for Qiao Yanyan first. “Wife, have some vegetables.”
“You too, Shiyuan.”
“Got it, Wife.”
Li Wanjun watched her eldest son smiling so brightly, treating his wife so gently, and she felt truly comforted.
Back when her son had that accident and suffered brain damage, the doctor had said he might be mentally impaired for life. She was devastated. Then his fiancée at the time came and called off the engagement. She thought Shiyuan would never get married in this lifetime. But to her surprise… he actually married such a beautiful daughter-in-law—much prettier than the previous one!
Fu Shiyuan carefully ladled a bowl of chicken soup and placed it in front of Qiao Yanyan, smiling at her. “Wife, have some soup.”
Qiao Yanyan smiled naturally and said: “Thank you.”
Li Wanjun nudged her husband. Fu Junjie looked at her, and she gave him a look, as if to say: “Look at your son!”
Midway through the meal, Fu Shixu entered the dining room and saw the harmonious family gathered around the table. Li Wanjun waved at him: “Shixu, come eat.”
Fu Shixu sat down. Butler Wang brought him a set of utensils. Fu Shixu said: “Mom, Dad, you came without saying a word?”
Li Wanjun shot him a glance and said: “Say what? So you could go pick us up at the airport?”
“If you had told me, of course I would’ve gone. And also, why didn’t you wait for me for lunch?”
“Our Yanyan and Shiyuan haven’t eaten all morning, and we should wait for you? Don’t you know to get up and find food yourself?”
Fu Shixu felt like his biological parents were playing favorites.
After the meal, Li Wanjun pulled Qiao Yanyan to the sofa and took out a bangle from a gift box—it looked beautiful and of very high quality.
“Yanyan, I picked this up while traveling. The craftsmanship looked decent, and I thought it would suit you, so I bought it for you.”
Qiao Yanyan didn’t know much about bangles, but with the Fu family’s wealth and taste, this one was surely expensive.
“Mom, thank you.” Qiao Yanyan had wanted to refuse, but since it was a kind gesture from her mother-in-law, she accepted it.
Then Fu Siya also handed her a box. “Eldest Sister-in-law, I was traveling abroad and saw this lipstick. It looked good, so I bought it for you.”
Qiao Yanyan accepted it as well. “Then, Siya, thank you.”
“Eldest Sister-in-law, you’re welcome.”
Fu Junjie smiled and asked Qiao Yanyan: “Yanyan, do you need some pocket money?”
Qiao Yanyan: Very much, but she was too embarrassed to admit it.
She shook her head against her true feelings. “Dad, no need.”
Still, Fu Junjie took out a card and said: “This card is for you, my daughter-in-law. It’s a globally accepted black card. If you ever want anything, just use this to buy it.”
Such a luxurious card—she had only ever read about it in novels. In those stories, the domineering CEO would always say to his beloved little wife: “Here’s a card. Spend as you like!”
And now… could she actually enjoy that same kind of treatment?
Could she accept it? If she did, would people say she was greedy and materialistic?
But if she didn’t accept it, it would feel like she missed out on a hundred million—not just a hundred million, but hundreds of millions!
“Dad, there’s no need. I have enough money…” she said, holding back the tears in her heart and politely declined.
Fu Shiyuan then stepped forward, took the card, and slipped it into her hand with a smile. “Wife, just take it—Dad’s giving it to you. You already accepted Mom and Siya’s gifts. If you don’t take Dad’s, he’ll be unhappy.”
Qiao Yanyan felt a warm flicker of happiness inside her. She smiled and looked at her father-in-law: “Thank you, Dad.”
Li Wanjun beamed as she watched the two of them. “As long as the two of you live well and take good care of each other, your dad and I will be satisfied.”
It had been three whole years—she had once thought Shiyuan would spend his whole life like that. Who would have thought… he could still get married? And to such a wonderful girl, no less. Honestly, back then, she had her doubts too. She wondered whether the girl was just some gold-digger trying to cozy up to the Fu Family. So before the wedding, she secretly investigated Qiao Yanyan’s background. Thankfully, she came from a decent family and had a good personality. Only then did she agree to the marriage.
After Shiyuan got married, she had been genuinely happy. There was a girl who didn’t mind that he was “silly” and was willing to marry him. But people are greedy by nature. Now that her son was married, she was starting to hope for the next thing—a grandchild. That would make things perfect.
Later, Fu Shiyuan took Qiao Yanyan out to the garden to enjoy the scenery. Meanwhile, Li Wanjun called for Butler Wang.
“Butler Wang, how are Eldest Young Master and Eldest Young Madam getting along at home?”
Butler Wang responded cheerfully: “Eldest Young Master really enjoys being with Eldest Young Madam.”
Fu Junjie asked: “And how does our daughter-in-law treat Shiyuan?”
Butler Wang thought back on the past couple of days and nodded. “Very well. Very patient.”
Li Wanjun looked deeply moved. She grabbed Fu Junjie’s hand and said: “Honey, didn’t I tell you their relationship was a good one?”
Just then, Fu Shixu walked past silently, saying nothing.
Because the night before yesterday… Eldest Sister-in-law had tried to seduce him!
And ever since then, Qiao Yanyan had been like a different person—her attitude toward Big Brother, toward him… had completely changed.
“Shixu!” Fu Junjie called out to him.
Fu Shixu stopped. “Dad, what is it?”
“Come sit for a bit.”
Fu Shixu came over and sat down. “What’s going on?”
“What do you think—how does your Eldest Sister-in-law treat your brother?”
Fu Shixu thought of that night…
“Why ask me? I’m not Big Brother.”
“I just want to hear from a third-person perspective. From what you see, how does your Eldest Sister-in-law treat your brother?”
Third person? He certainly wasn’t!
Li Wanjun noticed something off about his expression and asked with concern: “Shixu, why does your face look so strange?”
“It’s nothing. Dad, Mom, don’t ask me. How would I know how Eldest Sister-in-law treats Big Brother? All I know is that Big Brother is very clingy with her.”
Li Wanjun nodded, comforted. “Yes, back then it was because Shiyuan really liked Yanyan that they got married.”
Fu Junjie agreed. “It must be that our daughter-in-law treats Shiyuan well, otherwise he wouldn’t be so attached to her.”
“Yes, exactly.” Li Wanjun said in agreement.
“We two old folks can finally relax.”
Fu Shixu politely said to his parents: “If there’s nothing else, I’ll head to the office.”
“Isn’t today the first day of a long holiday? You’re still going to work?”
“Yeah. Can’t sit idle at home.”
“Shixu, remember to pace yourself. Don’t overwork.”
“Got it, Mom.”
Li Wanjun cleared her throat and added: “You’re not that young anymore. It’s time to find a girlfriend.”
At that, Fu Shixu thought of Su An’an. A faint smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.
A girlfriend… no rush.
