He had had enough of the Ouyang family’s repeated mistakes over in the Western Market.
First, they lost the plant laboratory, along with the fruits and mutated cores—that was bad enough. But then they almost caused the complete annihilation of the entire Black Ice organization.
And now, they might have even led people directly to the Lan City Safe Base.
If it weren’t for how deeply entangled their interests were, he would have long since cut ties with them.
Listening to Chen Shuhan’s calm analysis and seeing his obvious impatience, Ouyang Yun couldn’t help but feel a bit disheartened.
“Ah Han, is there really nothing between us except business?” she asked quietly.
Hearing this, Chen Shuhan frowned unhappily. “What do you mean by that?”
“Can’t you tell?” Ouyang Yun’s tone carried a hint of anger.
She admitted it had been her who seduced Chen Shuhan at the start, but he had clearly enjoyed it too.
Just yesterday they had had several rounds of passionate intimacy in bed, and everything had been harmonious and wonderful. Yet today, he treated her like a mere business partner, which left her extremely frustrated.
To the outside world, Chen Shuhan was set to marry her because of the heavy binding of interests between the Ouyang and Chen families.
But only she knew how cold this man was to her emotionally.
Facing Ouyang Yun’s dissatisfaction, Chen Shuhan remained silent.
His feelings toward Ouyang Yun were complicated. It wasn’t romantic love, but they were perfect partners in bed. He had to admit her body was incredibly alluring.
As he hesitated over how to respond, a soft knocking sounded at the door.
A slightly serious but unnaturally gentle female voice called out:
“Shuhan, are you asleep?”
“Zhou Jing?” Ouyang Yun sneered upon hearing the woman’s voice. “Since when did a prim and proper medical Ph.D. start acting coy?”
Chen Shuhan gave Ouyang Yun a cold glance, displeased with her disdain toward Luo Jing.
If his feelings toward Ouyang Yun were purely physical infatuation,
then with Zhou Jing, it was a deep attachment of the soul. He loved Zhou Jing so much he even considered abandoning the Chen and Ouyang family interests to marry her.
Without saying more, he intended to open the door for Zhou Jing.
“Not yet,” he called out.
But Ouyang Yun blocked his way with a sudden step.
Chen Shuhan frowned unhappily and tried to sidestep her, but Ouyang Yun moved too, continuing to block him.
The hallway by the door was narrow. The two of them kept shifting and blocking, locked in a silent standoff.
Angered by his persistence, Ouyang Yun acted without hesitation—
She pulled off the long, oversized sweater she was wearing.
Only then did Chen Shuhan realize that beneath the floor-length sweater, she had been wearing nothing at all.
Now, aside from a pair of black snow boots, she was completely naked.
The woman’s perfect figure, her long and slender legs, her smooth and flawless skin—nothing was hidden from Chen Shuhan’s view. His brain blanked out for a moment.
The memories of their recent days of pleasure flooded his mind uncontrollably.
“You slut,” he growled.
Tearing off his own tie, unbuttoning his shirt with one hand, and grabbing Ouyang Yun’s throat with the other, he shoved her roughly onto the bed.
Outside the door, Zhou Jing heard his gentle reply and smiled slightly.
But when the door remained unopened for a long time, she grew puzzled.
Suddenly, a sharp pain pierced her head, and she collapsed uncontrollably to the floor.
From a nearby empty room, Xiao Liu slipped in unnoticed, cracked open the door from inside, and stealthily dragged Zhou Jing away by her ankle.
Outside the suite on the fifteenth floor, everyone stared at the cold, sharp aura surrounding Nan Muran, confused.
“Miss Nan, did something happen?” Han Yingting asked uncertainly.
“Everyone, return to your rooms,” Nan Muran said calmly after sweeping her gaze over them.
Han Yingting and the others understood—she wasn’t trying to dismiss Jiawu and Si Ye, but rather the military’s four ability users.
Knowing Nan Muran’s decisive personality, the four didn’t argue and quietly returned to their rooms.
After they left, a tightly shut window in the outer room suddenly swung open.
Xiao Liu crawled in through the window and shrank down in size. He then threw an unconscious woman in a khaki suit onto the floor.
“Who is this woman?” Jiawu asked, puzzled by the unconscious woman with her hair neatly coiled.
Nan Muran crouched down, staring at the woman’s unconscious face, her tone bitter:
“From the underground laboratory. Just a deranged monster who treated human life like dirt.”
“Codename dead?”
“Codename dead?”
“Codename dead?”
…
Since her rebirth, Nan Muran had suffered countless nightmares, haunted again and again by this woman’s voice—driving her to the brink of collapse.
So the moment she heard that voice—
She no longer cared whether this woman had committed any atrocities yet in this timeline, nor whether acting rashly would bring trouble.
She just wanted to kill her.
Not a quick, merciful death—but a slow, torturous death.
Since her rebirth, those evildoers who hadn’t caused her too much harm, she killed swiftly and cleanly.
But for those who had truly tortured her—she couldn’t allow them an easy death.
Taking out an ordinary rope from her space, Nan Muran bound the woman’s hands and feet, and gagged her mouth.
Then, without hesitation, she drove a sharp dagger straight through the woman’s left hand.
The sudden intense pain snapped the woman awake. Her terrified eyes darted around.
She saw four adults and a child standing before her.

One of the adults was a young girl holding a blood-dripping dagger—it was obvious she was the one who had wounded her.
Nan Muran stared coldly at her terrified face, and then, without a word, stabbed the woman’s other hand as well.
“Mmm! Mmm!” Zhou Jing let out muffled cries of agony and struggled hard.
Before Nan Muran had reached level five in her psychic abilities, she could only crudely destroy a person’s mind.
But now, having broken through level five, she could sense far more subtle nuances in the human brain.
She could clearly feel Zhou Jing’s panicked thoughts:
“Who are you? What do you want?”
Zhou Jing tried to ask but couldn’t make a sound, only able to groan helplessly.
Nan Muran didn’t bother replying.
She crouched down and calmly plunged the dagger into Zhou Jing’s thigh.
Blood flowed onto the ground.
“Whatever you want, I can give it to you,” Zhou Jing tried to convey desperately through her struggles.
She had no idea if Chen Shuhan even knew she was missing yet. Judging from the style of the furnishings, she figured she was still in the Lan City hotel.
If Chen Shuhan started looking, with so many ability users at his command and his absolute authority in Lan City, he would definitely find her.
Nan Muran could sense her shifting thoughts but still said nothing.
She simply continued—
Finding a new spot on Zhou Jing’s body, she stabbed down again. And again.
Just as they had once coldly injected her with drugs and drained her blood for experiments.
