Chapter 01.1
“Yes, Miss, she is still sleeping and shows no signs of waking up.”
“Mr. Jin hasn’t been home for a long time, he probably doesn’t know about her falling down the stairs.”
“Tonight’s dinner party? Okay… I understand.”
After whispering on the phone, the nanny Chen Yu put the phone in her trouser pocket and turned to look at the woman on the bed.
Her red curly hair was messy, and her face was heavily made up. She had been lying on the bed for two days and nights, and the oil secretion on her face had caused her makeup to smudge. Her false eyelashes, which looked like fly’s legs, fell on her eyelids, and mascara dyed her eye bags black, making her look like a living ghost.
If it weren’t for the gentle rise and fall of her chest, people would believe she was dead.
Thinking of this, Chen Yu curled her lips and rolled her eyes in annoyance, “Why didn’t the fall down the stairs kill you?”
If she died, Chen Yu would be relieved, and wouldn’t have to report every move in this house like a spy every day.
The room door was slammed shut. As Chen Yu left, she didn’t notice the woman on the bed twitching her eyelids. Her uneven eyelashes trembled slightly, and then she slowly opened her eyes.
Having slept for quite a while, Su Qian’s eyes were a bit lost. She stared blankly at the white ceiling for a long time before she woke up from her dream and sat up.
Her head hurts…
She rubbed her temples with difficulty and leaned against the head of the bed to rest.
She had been trapped in this body for two days and nights, and had completely accepted the fact that she had traveled into a book. She had become the female supporting character in a dog-blooded novel with a very tragic ending.
During the two days of “coma”, her body couldn’t move, but her consciousness was very clear.
She could feel the doctor checking her body, and she could hear the woman who had just been on the phone reporting the dynamics of this house to someone in detail every day.
Of course, she also heard her curse just now.
Su Qian looked up at the closed door of the room. After a while, she found that the situation was a bit bad. She didn’t know if it was because the alcohol hadn’t completely worn off, but she couldn’t remember where the plot had gone.
Su Qian lifted the quilt and got out of bed. She was about to open the door and go out when she inadvertently turned her head and saw the “female ghost” appearing in the full-length mirror.
Su Qian: “……”
If it weren’t for the fact that she hadn’t fully recovered, causing her reaction to be half a beat slow, she might have been scared to death on the spot.
Why is it always like this, don’t evil female supporting characters deserve good aesthetics?!
Su Qian gave up the idea of going out with this ghostly appearance, casually picked a bathrobe from the wardrobe and went into the bathroom.
After washing off the heavy makeup on her face and the smell of alcohol, she felt refreshed. Su Qian tied up her curly hair that made her look twenty years older and carefully did her skincare.
Having slept for too long, her face was swollen like a steamed bun.
When she returned to the room, Chen Yu happened to be walking in with a tray. Seeing Su Qian in a bathrobe, she was obviously startled.
She hadn’t expected Su Qian to wake up, so she hadn’t prepared lunch properly. The tray only had a bowl of white porridge and a small dish of pickles, which was quite shabby.
“Since you’re awake, come out and eat.” She said and left without waiting for a response.
Su Qian didn’t say a word and followed her out.
Porridge is porridge, pickles are pickles, she was really hungry.
Chen Yu put the tray on the table and stood aside, looking at her expressionlessly, “Don’t forget there’s a banquet tonight.”
“Hmm.”
Su Qian pulled out a chair and sat down, scooped up some porridge and was about to blow on it, but found that the porridge had no heat. She thought the temperature was just right, but after eating it, she frowned tightly.
The porridge was not only cold, but also very, very sweet. One bite and it felt cloying.
“Do you have anything else to eat?”
“There’s nothing else.”
Su Qian put down her spoon and looked at Chen Yu, “This porridge is inedible.”
Chen Yu stiffened, “I didn’t make anything else, I didn’t know you would wake up.”
“Well, now you know.”
She pursed her lips in annoyance, “This is the extent of my cooking skills. You’ve been eating it for more than a day or two.”
Su Qian found it amusing and raised an eyebrow, “You’re getting paid but can’t do your job properly, and you still have the nerve to argue?”
“The one who pays me is Mr. Jin.” Not you!
“I see.” Su Qian’s slender index finger touched the edge of the bowl, and the corner of her mouth hooked up slightly, “If you have the energy to talk back, you must have more energy to work.”
Clang——
The exquisite porcelain bowl slipped from her hand and smashed onto the mirror-like marble floor.
Next was the dish with the pickles.
Porcelain shards scattered everywhere, and the white porridge and soy sauce splashed all over the place, even on Chen Yu’s trouser leg.
Seemingly unaccustomed to this scene, Chen Yu was somewhat dumbfounded. She stared blankly as Su Qian got up, her mouth open but not knowing what to say.
“Whether you clean up or not depends on your mood, after all, Mr. Jin will pay you, right?”
Su Qian’s voice was light and fluttery, and her eyes were contemptuous as if she were trampling on an insignificant ant. She wasn’t as irritable and agitated as usual, but her reaction now was even more chilling.
It made Chen Yu shiver from the bottom of her heart.
As her mind gradually cleared, her thoughts also became much clearer. Su Qian remembered many plots from the book.
The omniscient point of view let her know that Chen Yu dared to be so arrogant because she was not an ordinary nanny, she was Zhou Bingyan’s person.
And Zhou Bingyan was the childhood sweetheart of Jin Lie, Su Qian’s contract husband. Of course, Su Qian’s tragic end was also inextricably linked to her.
The relationship might seem a bit complicated at first glance, but simply put, Zhou Bingyan, as Jin Lie’s admirer for over a decade, has planted a spy by his side. From time to time, she would provoke Su Qian through Chen Yu, causing her to lose her temper now and then. This way, Jin Lie would grow more and more disgusted with Su Qian, and their divorce was only a matter of time.
Zhou Bingyan went to great lengths to sabotage their marriage, obviously not knowing that the marriage between Su Qian and Jin Lie had a time limit.
They signed a contract in secret from everyone else. According to the current plot, they could divorce in a year at most.
Before she came here, Su Qian had been in the entertainment circle for nearly ten years and had seen all kinds of people. Chen Yu, who was bad on the surface, was not difficult to deal with. If she wanted to set her up, she would need more practice.
She sat in front of the dressing table and calmly used a curling iron to style her hair. The original owner’s hair was almost like an African’s small curls and had to be eliminated. No matter how muddled she was in the book, she was still an 18th-line actress. How could she go out with a lump of red instant noodles on her head?
It took her a full two hours to get it right. Although the hair color was barely acceptable, the hairstyle had at least become better looking. The fluffy and natural big curls added a few points of charm and allure to her.
When Chen Yu came in with the newly delivered dress, her eyes were filled with surprise.
With such a makeover, Su Qian looked much prettier.
This hairstyle was the one she had persuaded Su Qian to perm. She was clearly brainwashed into liking it, so why did she suddenly change her mind?
But speaking of which, she had been acting a bit strange today. She was usually very obedient when she was coaxed, but just now, she suddenly lost her temper.
Could it be that her brain was damaged from the fall?
After meeting Su Qian’s gaze in the mirror, Chen Yu immediately turned her eyes away, “This is the dress for the banquet tonight.”
Su Qian was leisurely applying her base makeup, her voice quite light, “Hasn’t anyone taught you to knock before entering?”
Chen Yu’s expression stiffened, and she lost her previous insolence, “I’ll keep that in mind.”
“Get out.”
Su Qian glanced lightly at her retreating figure, her gaze returning to the mirror.
