Chapter 06.1
That night, Jin Lie had a strange dream. In the dream, Su Qian, dressed in a cheongsam and shaking a round fan, walked towards him with a graceful demeanor. She softly rapped to him:
“The sound of jumping off a building is ‘pah’,
The good-looking bag is Gucci,
Those who look down on me are trash,
Jin Lie, don’t be in a hurry,
I’ll give you a big rooster~”
The round fan in her hand instantly turned into a fat rooster. When she handed it to him, she didn’t forget to wink, “You are what you eat, skr~”
As she spoke, before he could react, she lifted her hand to remove the human skin mask on her face. A fluffy fox face was revealed.
Jin Lie was startled awake.
He squinted his eyes and turned his head, seeing the clear sunlight outside the window through the exposed gap.
What a strange dream, how could he have such a dream out of the blue. And the saying “you are what you eat”, then if he eats chicken…
Jin Lie refused to think about it any further, and after washing up, he went directly to the first floor. When he arrived at the dining room, he saw a strange middle-aged woman carrying a plate out of the kitchen.
“Sir, you’re up.” After neatly arranging the dishes, Mrs. Wang introduced herself, “I’m the new nanny.”
Mrs. Wang was in her early fifties, with a kind and gentle appearance, she seemed very easy to get along with.
“Hmm.” Jin Lie sat down and started eating.
He took a sip of coffee and leisurely opened the newspaper to read the latest news.
After finishing his meal, Mrs. Wang came over to clean up the dishes. There wasn’t much food left, and even though she already had an idea, she still nervously asked, “Are you satisfied with the taste?”
Jin Lie nodded, “It’s fine.”
Mrs. Wang was relieved, “That’s good. The lady instructed that I must cook according to your taste. I was worried that you wouldn’t be used to it since it’s my first day.”
Jin Lie looked up.
How would Su Qian know his preferences?
“So you’re saying all this was told to you by the lady of the house?”
Mrs. Wang nodded, “Yes, she specifically called this morning to remind me not to be late, and she even posted a form on the refrigerator in case I forget some precautions.”
“She left?”
“I didn’t see her when I came over this morning.”
Jin Lie was silent for a moment, and his gaze returned to the newspaper, “I see.”
Twenty minutes later, the assistant came to take him to the company. Jin Lie put the coffee cup into the sink, and as he turned around, he saw two conspicuous A4 papers on the refrigerator door.
The one with a smiling face was labeled “Likes”, and the one with a crying face was labeled “Dislikes”. Both hand-drawn forms noted his taste and various habits in life. Some key points were even marked with a red heart. All the details were clear at a glance.
Sitting in the car, Jin Lie thought of that dream. Could this Su Qian really be fake? Otherwise, this change is a bit too startling.
“Mr. Jin, you seem to be in a good mood today.” Zhong Ning was delighted at the prospect of a good day ahead.
Jin Lie came back to his senses, looking over with an expressionless face. The sound of joy shattered, scattering all over the floor.
Zhong Ning’s shoulders shrank, and he fell silent.
The car was silent for a while, and Jin Lie casually asked, “What drama is Su Qian filming now?”
Zhong Ning was taken aback, but quickly responded, “Wait a moment, I’ll check right away.”
Jin Lie turned to look outside, “If you don’t know, never mind.”
She can act in anything, as long as she doesn’t sing. Others get paid to sing, but her singing is deadly.
Zhong Ning, who had already found the result, had no choice but to swallow all his words. He put away his iPad and sneakily glanced at the rearview mirror.
It’s strange, this person used to ignore Su Qian. Why is he suddenly interested today?
—
On the other side, Su Qian was sitting in a small chair in the lounge, feeling drowsy. She had stayed up until the early hours of the morning making a guide for the nanny, and arrived at the set in the morning according to the schedule notified by the coordinator, but the actual filming time was nearly three hours late.
Finally, it was her turn to film, but the good weather suddenly turned cloudy, and it started to pour.
Coastal cities are already low in temperature, and it’s even cooler after the rain. Su Qian walked out of the lounge and was shivering from the cold wind.
“Stop dawdling! The director wants you to hurry over, this weather is perfect for filming your scene of falling into the water.”
The coordinator’s tone was quite harsh, almost as if she was speaking to Su Qian through her nostrils.
Su Qian had already done her makeup and went over to listen to the director explain the scene. This scene was about the female lead attempting suicide out of despair, and Su Qian, upon seeing this, bravely jumps in to save her.
The scene was short, and the female lead didn’t need to show her face. A stunt double was chosen for the diving scene.
After explaining the scene, the director bluntly said, “The weather is bad, it would be best if we could get it in one take.”
After he said this, everyone around showed meaningful expressions on their faces. Everyone knew that Su Qian was the NG queen of the crew, sometimes a simple scene would need to be shot seven or eight times before it was okay.
“If she doesn’t NG, I’m afraid it will rain red today.”
The one speaking was the assistant of the female lead, Chu Piaopiao. Her eyebrows were flying in a sarcastic manner, and her eyes were almost rolling up into her head.
“Alright, say less.” Chu Piaopiao pretended to be serious, “It’s not like Su Qian can just decide not to NG, but I believe she will definitely consider everyone in this kind of weather.”
The second female lead laughed directly when she heard this, “Sister Piaopiao, you really know how to talk. I remember last time for a scene where she had to eat an apple, our teacher Su Qian had to reshoot it more than ten times, causing the props teacher to have to run out to buy apples.”
Listening to these three women chattering, Su Qian really felt that even though the director hadn’t shouted “action”, the drama had already begun.
“Are you done talking?” Su Qian had a look on her face that said “I’m just quietly watching you perform”, “The rain will stop in a while.”
The second female lead snorted and walked away with a disdainful roll of her eyes. Chu Piaopiao, on the other hand, chuckled lightly, “It seems like you’re quite eager to make a fool of yourself.”
Su Qian didn’t care, she turned to the director and said, “They’re done talking.”
The director was slightly taken aback, glanced at them, and without wasting any more time, he said, “Action!”
The shooting began.
